This was pre S3 though and the character has changed a lot since then.Ultimately GG, even Strive, is not the same as SF. Characters have greater extremes in their playstyles and so you get less from learning general neutral or whatever the way playing Chunners in SF forces you to learn footsies. The transferable skills across characters are still there but lean more towards system mechanic things. Additionally many characters in Strive / GG lean HEAVILY into their gimmicks which rewards character specialization a lot more.

The latter there's workarounds for on proper leverless too afaik.
