Like the prequels, Tekken 8 is geared towards casual gamers and anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, DoA and MK games have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T8 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their super move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, slow motion over and over again also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.

How's the singleplayer side of Tekken 8?Tekken 7 was good for this at first, but I don't like how they unlocked everything for you a couple seasons in. I don't think you can even delete your save file because you still automatically get everything in the shop unlocked anyway. I like playing matches against the CPU and increasing the difficulty slowly as I get better, to earn gold every match and the occasional gacha item or win reward and use the gold to buy gallery stuff like cutscenes, character art, and costumes. I wish it had a more in-depth story mode for all the characters. Yeah, I'm definitely a no good shitter who doesn't play competitively at all, but that's how I enjoy Tekken and other fighting games. I never play against other people. I usually try online unranked for a couple matches and then quit and go back permanently to offline arcade or CPU VS mode.
