>>488442002Haven't watched the animated version, but if it's anything like most of them "quick, we need an anime but the manga isn't even close to done yet and shows a lot of things we can't put on TV" attempts, then the plot is probably jumbled up, sloppified, big moments (both fights and commbrain service) replaced with something more tame with lens flare and solar explosions in your face to boot and it's definitely missing the author's style and attention to detail.I kind of forgot to check in a long while, since translation team was going through some drama/slowing down a lot, but there's a few tomes translated by /a/nons and I'd say you only need a first 1-2 to "get" if it's for you or not. In the later ones there's definitely moments where you can feel the coom pressing against the artist's brain as he tries to come up with more and more plots to show off the main cast in new fanservice/fetish situations while still pretending there's a story being told as the harem just keeps on growing.

Touma also isn’t an idiot in the LNs and this is show in his inner monologues (skipped in the anime due to time constraints), as well as explaining that he has a limited form of precognition, which is why he can fight against espers and magicians so effectively in addition to having Imagine Breaker.
