I was getting a little burnt out on my main projects so I'm taking a short break to work more on the SMB1 framework used for 85.EXE. I rewrote the character controller to make it a little cleaner and without the excessive use of inheritance that it had before. I also wrote it somewhat with co-op in mind because I want the framework to support NSMB style co-op.I thought it'd be cool to add some small features from later Mario games, like the ability to throw fireballs upward from Super Mario World. May or may not add support for carrying and throwing Koopa shells.

I think the notion that simplistic gameplay like the "green hill and crystal lake sections" of EYX make a game good is retarded. You can see this talking point on /exeg/ too where people have said that "Sonic.EXE the Dark Souls" "mogs most exe games" because it has simple Sonic gameplay. But this sort of gameplay is worse than 90% of normal Sonic fangames. So what is the point? These kinds of games are actually worse than MrPixel games, because at least MrPixel games make use of the novelty of the exe game premise with somewhat interesting setpieces. People remember EYX for the scares and scripted sequences, not the basic platforming. I like to think that OSF merges Sonic gameplay with the premise of an exe game, because you are interacting with the "horror" element of the game the entire time, and not just in scripted sequences. X is implemented mechanically, and emergently, not just scripted in.
