The introduction of the coin system in the first place was already controversial because it created incentive to reach NP6 when the maximum usefulness was NP5 before. It's that this change exists within the context of an already controversial system and the only thing it adds is an even higher investment cap. At the end of the day people want to feel rewarded. This doesn't feel rewarding for that portion of the audience, and it's kind of just neutral for the non-whales, making it bad implementation.
