One thing is that it's kind of worth the struggle the first several times because at some point the struggle begins to drastically reduce - my first Skip Off runs for reading each took fucking weeks but nowadays it's down to a couple days (if I'm speedreading then I can easily do a new one in a single day). I think something like KanjiTomo will help on PC a good deal, but one kanji lookup method that's agnostic of device is the SKIP method. Pros: basically no special tools/devices needed once you learn how to classify an unknown kanji's SKIP number, you can go straight to jisho.org and query #kanji #skip: X-Y-Z and then from there find the unknown kanji and then find words containing it until you find the word you need. Cons: pretty time consuming - kanji with smaller stroke counts can overlap with a ton of others on certain SKIP numbers, and ones with high stroke counts are time consuming to figure out the SKIP number of. Best solution IMO for when you're locking in for a Skip Off reading playthrough is having a smartphone/tablet with a stylus and utilizing GBoard handwriting input. You can scribble monstrosities that still often get recognized correctly to really speed up kanji lookups, and can also do them all in jisho.org. I still don't know of anything beter than this last method tbqdesu
