i am, doing the hair took me 3 days, the first full model took me around 2 days, redoing the model took me another day, finishing those simple textures took around 4 hours.

Dumbass meme questions aside, I think you're ignoring the real problem in that you're relying on an engines. You should consider the alternative of using a rendering library or framework instead, such as Ogre3D(Torchlight 2), The Forge(Many AAA games), and bgfx(Airmech, Minecraft).
If none of those are too your liking, then go learn OpenGL.

W4 games, being a service that is run by Godot maintainers to port Godot games, is a clear conflict of interest in creating better porting for Godot games. I'd call that shady.
In addition, Godot maintainers do not create and sell their own games, so it's nigh inevitable that the engine will degrade in quality because it caters to the majority of users, who don't sell games.

I'm not trying to be a contrarian here and Godot is usable for now, but I think that it's best people start preparing to move off engines entirely while times are good.

I'll have to look more thoroughly then. The impression I got is that most of the maintainers weren't finishing games, because issues like occlusion culling being broken for years would be fixed if this were the case.

Maybe. I think Godot's core value is in it's modular server pattern, gdscript, and UI framework. Rendering has always been weaker(lacking deferred rendering, always being many step behind other technologies) and I'm not aware of how good their networking suite is.
So, the natural evolution of Godot, is in my opinion toward being less of a full engine engine and more of a framework. You can see this direction with GDextensions and drop-in physics engine replacements.
I think then the threat is more from a whole studio forking Godot and it becoming something akin to what Monogame is now.

Well first of all you shouldn't use premade assets as-is, you can personalize them so they blend in with your project. Most assetflip accusations occur when lazy devs just toss shit in straight from the store which results in a certain amateurish look.
Commissioning artists can be good if you can tardwrangle, not get ripped off, and you actually hire good artists. It's not a simple matter and is also a skill of its own.
Also you're gonna get crabbed by one or two dedicated shitposters no matter what you do so keep that in mind.

This is why the advice is to make Pong or Flappy Birds, and then a few game jam games. These are all things that you do in a very short amount of time, and then you grow out of once you git gud. No one is telling you that you should spend 5 years making a pixel platformer. If you're going to make a commercial game, it needs to be reasonably scoped, and by making and RELEASING smaller games first, you get a much better understanding of what kind of game is releasable in a reasonable timeframe.

I had a nice long talk with my mentor at work today about taking charge of my career and steering it in the direction I want it to go. I realized a lot of what he was telling me can be applied to life in general, including game dev. If I want to ever make the game I want to play there's no better time than the present to get started. The end product will only be as good as I allow it to be through my own actions. I have to just do it and never give up.
