Can someone explain to me the gameplay loop?In WoW, at least vanilla or early classic, you'd gear up to do raids and the raid gear would generally unlock unique or different ways to play certain builds. These items could also be used to farm more efficiently, power allies faster through lower level dungeons, and ultimately PvP people much less geared than you easily.In FF14, I heard that the only reason to get gear is to make the story raid fights slightly easier, and that's it. Lalafell “culture” (I can’t think of a better word for it) is very different on crystal than other servers. On primal there is one other lalafell in my fc, and while of course we are best buds most of the time I hang out with very nice and articulate biggers, who treat me a bit like a mascot. While when I visit a crystal server, there is little packs of us all hanging out together and doing stuff together, much more insular. I think this results in a lot of the thread views on my race.

Which boils down to the animation and sounds that result from me pressing said buttons. So far with this expansion I believe they are doing alright with a fair amount of the jobs providing this to me. The exceptions for this way of thinking for me though are PLD, DRK, SCH, and SGE. Because of the effects their skills do and how they let me see I have saved a friend or trivialized a mechanic with the invulnerability they can provide through shields and cover, instead of the animations and sounds.
