The levels have retarded changes like bonfires in different locations (the iconic burg bonfire is placed where the lightning resin is, one of the absolute worst places to put it) and the bosses have some retarded changes too like Tauros Demon jumps you from behind now, but the archer is just on the bridge so you just climb up the ladder and ignore it entirely. Gargoyles are scaled at Iron Golem level and the game wants you to fight them way later but I just fought them there and it took a while. The gargoyle halberd is a guaranteed drop which was good. Also Sif is replaced with like four of those fucking giant cats for some reason.

The spell playstyle in general is new and awkward to me since I've always gone weapon builds in souls games.Even still I'm almost relying on my spells too much since my melee feels like ass and enemies seem very tanky in general. Even the most basic zombie enemies take 3 swings/spells, with fatties taking 10+ (and I have been pumping almost all points to int). Leads to a lot of slow careful progression through areas playing like a pussy. I might also have just coincidentally picked spell schools that are bad (at least early on) or are not conducive to my playstyle. The first had unusably bad starting spells/weapon and I couldn't even beat the first boss. I restarted the game with a different school that feels much better and the first 2 bosses were a joke, but progressing the areas is irritating and stressful.I'll try and push a little further though. I think if I get to deacons/abyss watchers and its still like this its probably just not for me.

I was just watching a video about Lords of the Fallen, specifically what has been changed since launch, and honestly, one of the changes is... I don't know how to feel about it.They've made it so, whenever you find a new weapon, its weapon level will be the same as the highest leveled weapon you currently have.It's so strange as it greatly diminishes the value of smithing material, but also means less grinding and the ability to test more builds freely. On the other hand, it also means it kind of discourages picking up weapons early on as doing so means you'll have to manually level them up as opposed to waiting until your current weapon is higher.It's just really got me thinking about the whole concept of weapon leveling to begin with and if alternatives should be sought over what Fromsoft has established.I think maybe I have an idea of something that could work better. What if instead of leveling individual weapons at a smith, you instead level proficiency in weapon classes? Like, instead of leveling up each long sword you find, you instead level up long sword proficiency, effectively leveling all long swords at once. That way you still have to commit some to a build, but you also have access to some variety as you progress and find new weapons.Maybe the Smith is replaced with a weapon master who will only offer lessons in exchange for a certain type of item.

Figured it's a Souls game so I might as well discuss it here. Lies of P stat design is kind of flawed compared to DS but it might be more fun, even if it's probably not what the devs intended.THERE'S NO MINIMUM STAT REQUIREMENT FOR ANYTHING IN LIES OF P, so if you find a new weapon, armor, or arm (pretty much your spells, they have its own mana bar that conveniently rises with the stat I'll mention next), you can instantly equip and use it.So... What the hell? Unless you're CHADmaxxing for unga bunga numbers in Souls games, the smart play is to only level your stat to meet requirements of your build. Everything else goes into survivality.Lies of P is even more extreme in this regard however, investing in Vitality isn't even the best way to increase your defense ; since armor matters, you want to upgrade your Equip Load with the Capacity stat to instantly use all the best upgrades AND weapons, which tend to be heavy. All best armors, boss amulets and boss weapons are heavy, so literally all of your offense, defense, and magic (the different arms with spells) is tied to Capacity, EVEN GODDAMN STAMINA, it regens faster in lightweight, so instead of investing in the Stamina stat for a longer bar, you can keep your equip load big so the bar is small but never runs out.It's wild how you can exclusively level Capacity and not fall behind because being able to equip all the cool heavy shit far surpasses the gains from individual stat points.
