Seeing clashable guards and counters makes me think.Guards do no damage but have a safety net in case you lose the clash by reducing the damage taken via shield & reducing their power while raising the stagger threshold on a win. Counters on the other do more damage than your average S1 while being available anytime you want and if they turn out to be like WildHunt Heath's then it means your ID generates 4 sins instead of only 3 which is always useful. However, a lot of IDs were not designed with this in mind so I am not sure if you could just give it to everyone without changing certain things. Say Zwei Greg gains a clashable guard. His guard, The Best Defense, is a 15 base +5 skill which means you would have a free EGO that you can use whenever you want and on a loss, it would lower the enemy's power by 15 at worst. The Middle IDs need to get hit for their effects so clashing with their counters means they wouldn't get them which sucks for Don who has her coin power locked behind it.
