People have stopped engaging with BDO precisely because the open world which made it so damn good has been whittled away and restricted due to endless crying from casuals & tourists to cut the grind down and give them something else to do.The grind reigns supreme because it is the pinnacle of evergreen content. You'll be done with dungeons in weeks. You're never done grinding out this or that. The fact people would come and start shit over the mundane was what made BDO exactly not that - the boring became fun because it could always turn into something much more at a moment's notice. PvP's decline in the OW is blatantly killing the best content the game had to offer veteran players. It didn't need anything else desu.
