Shadow's backstory was better when he had never actually interacted with Maria due to being finished after her death, and memories being tampered.It's way more tragic that he cares for someone who doesn't even know his existence yet still follows them because who is he if not his memories? And he completely turns heel once his memory is "corrected" still dedicated to granting that one wish.Imagine if SXSG Maria didn't know who Shadow was beyond that he was being created, and he had to face not what his past was, but his past actually completely false.It would be a much more interesting beat for his character having to come to gripes with the fact that everything he did was based purely off of falsehood.It would also be the only thing that can shatter his confidence, needing to build past it.Shadow really has a lot of story telling potential.

Already loving SxSG, I'm starting with Terio's side of the game but I wanna know, does sonic get a new open hub like shadow?Outside of that the levels(Just started, on the heroes level cause I was looking around) are pretty good, I'm getting lots of paths, they are making fun use of shadow's homing attack being a teleport meaning you can go through walls, making good use of spear even if it can't kill and the level length feels nice. It feels like how the last updates to frontiers made movement feel but even tighter and more smooth for turning, jumping and doing a 180 in a jump, still a tiny bit of momentum loss to it but it doesn't feel as rough as like when Frontiers started. The engine feels good though. It feels good even if it's just an addition, even collectables are feeling more fun and rewarding to get if a bit more tedious since they are scattered in boxes in the over world and don't really list what each unlocks, while fun, I would rather know what music I use my token on or at least get some indication.I am slightly annoyed that Terios uses skating animations but I somewhat expected it, his quills are a bit extra droopy making him look soggy standings till
