Total War Game of Thrones would be about the War of the Five Kings, using mechanics from Total War Three Kingdoms, like diplomacy, spies, and alliances. Recruitment would be based on Total War Pharaoh, with faction units and local units. The endgame would feature an invasion of White Walkers (draugr). The map would cover Westeros, along with Essos cities featured in the show like Meereen, Astapor, and Yunkai, as well as the Dothraki Sea. I downloaded a bunch of cheats and have been having fun with the game. Adding Nagash in is pretty fun but I kind of hate the anti player bias the AI has for it. Nagash will just travel across the map to attack you for no reason. Any cheats that are /vg/ approved or recommended?

Use this for managing mods, it's way better than the vanilla launcher, it tells you if like you're missing requirements, let's you launch a mod in rpgm directly if you have that installed to make edits, let's you filter and create sets and is just easier to manage imo

Try looking at Rhox's mods, he dies a thing where he retools a mechanic from one faction into another, like giving Vlad mechanics around becoming the Emperor. Could also try Singe's skill compilation, though they can be a little overturned, it basically adds 4-5 skills to every legendary lord which adds some sometimes unique stuff to each LL's army buffing specific units or things like that
To be honest with you most new "adds a LL to this faction!" mods imo tend to be not that well designed, things that add new factions are a bit more okay.
Red's Estalia Overhaul adds some southern realm stuff that buffs local units to make a terico, I way prefer it to the more popular cataph's southern realms.
Could try looking at OvN stuff, they add new factions but I dislike how often they use the tomb kings crafting mechanic.
Lastly, not faction rehauls, but I like mods that add the warriors of chaos upgrade mechanic to every faction (though yeah it makes warriors of chaos less unique)
Also doesn't fit what you're asking, but I eill always shill for Crisis of Mortals for adding some population mechanics that I like personally, though it can have some incompatibility problems

I've been playing Warhammer 3 recently and I have two questions about using heroes as agents instead of in battles.

1) Is the success % shown accurate? Maybe I'm just unlucky but I got a quest to assassinate an enemy hero. According to the UI I have an 83% chance of success, but I failed the assassination attempt 4 turns in a row.
2) Does equipment matter at all for heroes that don't go into battle (other than ancillaries that explicitly say they give a bonus to hero actions), or should I just keep them naked and save my equipment for my battle heroes?

Honestly, if you care about playing optimally, you should almost always attach your heroes to an army and only detach them if you need something scouted. Heroes in Warhammer are so important that it's not worth having them sit on the campaign map, where all they can do is damage walls and block armies, when they could help you win a battle instead, and or give an army of yours big benefits.

1.The percentage gives you an idea but it is irrelevant because it's "seeded". So you are not rolling a dice, the dice has already been rolled. You can cheese it by saving before attempting, reloading if it fails, doing any action that changes the seed, like recruiting another hero, and attempting again. iirc that's how it went.

I disagree, depending on the faction
There's many hero types that are like pretty useless and I dislike and like way prefer doing campaign actions. (Usually melee heroes in non-melee focused factions.)
Like nobles in high elves or exalted heroes in warriors if chaos. I just never have enough armies to justify not just liek using better heroes liek mages or handmaidens

Being Malakai is a cucked existence. Purged the realm of Norscan scum and rats, now I'm stuck fighting a dozen wars against all the different chaos factions, literally shielding the oldworld from all these inferior cultures trying to migrate there and somehow Kislev still can't get it's shit together and is losing to Drycha while the Empire is just, doing nothing. Orthodoxy is just turtling in his settlements for 50 turns in a row. They're all at war with most of the same factions I am, and no one has sent any armies north.

Strong disagree, it's tremendous at clearing chaff, which isn't necessarily a VC's biggest problem, but it's nice to have, and does pretty well against tougher infantry like chorf warriors. Very mobile for sieges too, good for dicking the AI around. I'd always take it if I'm expecting Skaven. You need to micro it however, but honestly VC are light on micro as is, even more so if you play like I do (blob up hard in trees with a necromancer + corpse cart), Vampire and Wight King heroes are all tough enough to not be too micro intense either.

Grab a frontline of Dwarf Warriors, dont pick Miners they fucking suck then grab some artillery, preferably Grudge Throwers earlygame to grab the enemy AIs attention while you get in formation, make them come to you. Make Thorgrim as tanky as possible since the fucker is meant to survive through anything. Quarellers are there to pick off things coming at you while the average Dwarf Warrior will outlive almost anything thrown at them barring AP. Eventually phase out some Warriors for Longbeards and Quarellers for Irondrakes and Thunderers, grabbing better artillery and a THOONDABARGE along the way. Master Engineer is there to buff your earlygame 2 Grudge Throwers and whatever else you decide to add. Gyrocopters are also good to add maybe 2 to 3 but stick to just having a good formation and you laugh off most magic thrown at you anyways.

I've deduced that miners with blasting charges are only great on field battles and just get shot to death in sieges. Your first mistake was doing the siege in the first place but if you really wanna siege with Dwarfs, grab like 3 to 4 grudge throwers and stick to 1 side that has the least amount of towers shooting at you, since you are slow as shit and its a siege you are gonna lose units anyways so while the grudge throwers break the walls down slowly make your way inside. Its gonna be slow and painful but eventually you will win purely because your units are tanky.

Huntsman generals are perfect for scenarios where you don't have much time to build an usual mid or late game jack of all trades/gun and arty stack and you are in a forest area (like a empire's Old World or Lustria). With micro effort, you can win many clutches. Of course it's only applicable to situations where AI grabs you by the balls and you want it to twist them a little. It's an option, really wild shit, makes things more difficult but doable. He is for making a poor Rambo's armies (or wood elves), a little shard of that feeling.

If the unit count gets too high it still doesn't help since I'm getting drip fed units and the rest of the army is on que until some of my other units route. battles have a hard coded max unit cap and it makes the super large battles an absolute shit show to do. "Armor Piercing" is the most overrated trait in the game. Literally every single unit in the game does some armor piercing damage, even the humble gobbo archer. Mouse over the weapon strength bar on the unit info tab. It's almost entirely irrelevant against anything that's not a dwarf or a chaos lord anyway. If anything, being armor piercing is just some "goodness" about the unit that's specialized for a specific enemy, better to not be AP and have other stats higher. Take wight kings vs banshees, WK's are virtually always the better pick despite doing poor AP compared to banshee's 100% (!) AP.

Just vows. They're overall a forgiving/easy (assuming you can cycle charge at all, which avg total war player can't do) and decent faction. Try them with a vow cheat and you'll see how this alone makes a big change to QoL/annoyance. People also seem to struggle with which cavalry to use where/when/why, too. Some units could use a slight tweak here or there, sure, but fix vows first, then sit on it for a patch at least.

Thanks beast"men". Also, I'm going to restart this campaign either now or after a different one to cleanse the palate of sorts. This time I'll sandbag myself even more, I was doing (and will maintain) never ever using demons, this includes RoR, emergency or not. and next time I will also limit myself to one hero per lord (legendary or otherwise). I'll use the spare legendary heroes on the world map just for scouting or some shit instead. I play on VH/VH with a cheat that allows me to make all AI a little stronger on campaign map, maybe I'll tune it up a little more. I think the leak was correct, they were making another shitty Cathay DLC and the overwhelming negative response has them working double time to pump out something else. I think in my personal opinion that Tarmukhan campaign is the best campaign in Warhammer 3 and it's not even close. I played it with the lore mod and that got me really immersed in the campaign. The only time Orcs have had crossbows (at least 4th edition onwards - literally nobody cares about 1st-3rd edition) were Ruglud's Armoured Orcs, a mercenary unit that showed up in Waaagh! Grimgor for Storm of Chaos, and in the 6th Edition Dogs of War army list.
Honestly they'll probably be like the slayer pirates - Ruglud as a RoR and generic crossborcs as a standard unit.

Trying it for the first time now and I'm not a fan of the beginning so far. Same for the only other Nurgle faction I've tried, Epidemius. H/H and even not on max difficulty on turn I'm finishing Kolek just barely on turn 15. Nurgle just feels so weak so far but I might not be playing them right since I'm used to bretonnia, dark elves, kangz, and skaven

Nurgle's recruitment means your start is going to be slow. Tamurkhan alleviates this somewhat by being so strong and getting chieftain units that aren't tied to the summon pool, but even min-maxing with plagues and such it'll take a bit to get a full army that's not just maraudermanii/nurglings.

However once things get rolling you can shit out a stack in one turn, and leveled Nurgle Daemon Princes can solo armies when properly equipped.

Vilitch is good on RoC, I don't like the bastion battles and then conquering wei jin before the 60 other Cathay settlements on IE. As Vilitch you just dab on Daniel, conquer Norsca, then terrorize the Empire, iirc you can then rift hop over to Cathay and the Dark Lands to fight a solid variety of enemies. Tzeentch isn't that fun against Helves or Delves or Lizards imo anyway so you're not missing much, a Kairos campaign will have you fighting lizards and Kangz and Asur ad nauseum if you want that anyway.

N'kari without fighting the Twins is just awful, although I'm not a big fan of his donut start either.

Going off what I used to enjoy from DoW:
1. Tau
2. Imperial Guard
3. Dark Eldar
4. Sisters of Battle

I also liked Orks and Craftworld Eldar, but only aesthetics-wise. In practice, I didn't like their playstyle that much. In 2, it was mostly Imperial Guard with a side of Eldar and Orks, but everyone was alright.
I also like some specific marine chapters, loyalist and traitor, but as a whole, not my thing.

I just don't want the Eldar in game 1 or as an opening faction. I don't think CA can make them right because what I imagine them playing as is the furthest away from the current Total War formula. You can basically ctrl c ctrl v Ikit Claw or Elspeth and get the Tau so the AI will suck shit at it, Space Marines can be WH3 Ogres but more ranged, Orks are Greenskins but more ranged, Chaos Space Marines basically Ogres (evil), but the fucking Eldar if CA goes too hard will be like deadlier, sneakier, faster Wood Elves with teleportation that don't care about any forests so too fucking annoying as an opener and I don't want to deal with this shit at the very start of the 40k Total War

I think it'll be spess muhreens and IG, they'll play differently enough. Mechanicus and Knights come as a later DLC and can supplement those armies. Maybe Sisters or Custodes eventually. Could Tau warrant 2 to 4 DLC's with a sufficient base game army?
