They don't even have to be in melee range to soften you up for the pain.Sometimes it sucks ass, but even just seeing that light appear on you triggers a fight or flight reaction in a lot of people, and creates a good moment to capitalize on. You basically can't get into fights with turrets involved without taking damage unless you blitz a motherfucker before they can really attack, or you're in ZB and they just glance the overcharge in that blitz.
