Here's to an obscure piece of Kirby trivia:In Air Ride's sound test, whenever you choose a song without a set loop like the Intro theme or any fanfare, once it's over it will fade in the Menu theme as opposed of remaining silent.The funny thing about this is that such fade in is not the game switching from one song to the Menu theme with a fade in for a smooth effect. Stumbled across some art block with the manga project, figured I might as well doodle Elfilis to fight it off as I usually do, and then decided to try inking him with the brush pen. I think it helped out. It's very rushed but it looks better than I was expecting it to I'll admit, figured I might as well share it here.

You can get a lot of pretty distinctive effects with it that'd be harder to portray with pencil, and the bendy tip I used to hate is actually something of a plus, messing around with flow to give variance to outlines is very nice.

It feels a bit hard to tell whether that was just something they wanted to do for the remake, or if they want to keep that as a series staple going forward. Kirby games already have pretty solid readability by design, but the outlines makes the characters even more noticeable. I almost wonder if they wanted to test it in 2D before using it for the next 3D, seeing as the whole readability thing was something they mentioned worrying about a good amount in interviews, what with the whole "damage based on camera's perception rather than exact hitboxes" idea and all. I think HAL's game design is pretty great, so I'm wondering if the outlines are part of some bigger considerations they're taking for the future...
