And quite frankly, the gameplay with Trusts is not good. There's not a lot of strategy other than grind to a high enough level and get good enough gear to beat the next boss, and that's so easy to do that it's like getting to 100 in XIV and then doing ARR through SB unsynced by yourself. So all that's left is the tedium of running around and grinding the quest objectives that allow you to progress, many of which are absolute slogs (fuck that one CoP escort mission). That being said, there's also a lot of really cool stuff that I wish had found a way to modern MMO design. No flying makes zones so much more memorable and feel bigger. Even though a lot of the missions and quests can be a pain, some have genuinely charming aspects to them that make it feel like an adventure completing them (although with the wikis some of that magic is gone). Jobs have very strong identities and the subjob system is still super cool. And then of course there's stuff Final Fantasy has always done that I'm really impressed a game from like, 2003, had going for it such as the incredible music, solid story and lore, and an actual effort to bring staples of the series to an 2000s era MMO like the summons, bosses, enemies, etc. It's a cool piece of history that I'm glad people can still experience, but at least for me, it would never become my "main game" in this day and age.
