I hope we have more stuff like x-18, x-16, and agroprom underground in STALKER 2
>>500254214>>500255498>>500256429I've had similar thoughts before, but I think these would appeal *mostly* to people who like Receiver, who have a lot but not total crossover with the milnerds you mention.I'd play it, but I think heavy imsim gameplay has a relatively limited audience.
The paradigm for video games had going through the early bits era with focus at imagination and suspension of disbelief in looks, but striving for immersive simulation in mechanics, towards "realism" in looks but inane and simplified mechanics with disregard for simulation. With the peak balance at around 2008-2012. Dumber devs? Greedier corpos? Don't know. The former category still thrives in niche indies and modding tho. IMO The original stalker games and some mods hit close to the perfect balance between a streamlined console-like gameplay AND immersive sim mechanics.Talking about that, I don't know where to ask for this, but what others new games in the vein of stalker there are out, and I don't mean Tarkov, because it is not. I mean, mechanics-wise. I've played Zero Sievert and it is good for a very rudimentary niche indie done by a single guy with rudimentary skills done in game maker. But it is too tarkov/neo-scavenger at times, and has that looting-crafting-craze mentality of analmeme.I've heard of chernobylite but got told the game mechanics aren't as stalker. I've heard about Fargone too, but got told it is still in very early dev stages, anyway I'm downloading it soon to try it.Don't get me wrong, I'll love to try stalker 2 and see if its up to the name, even if it will follow the trend of cinematic realism with dumbed down console mechanics, but I would feel so grateful to get a game and/or mod that strikes the balance like the games of old from late 2Ks - early 2010s even if the graphics are retro-looking.Thanks for reading my blog essay and don't forget to subscribe to my boomer mailing list.
Stalker 2 will live and die with a-life. There is no point to playing a singleplayer FPS with janky gunplay and survival horror elements if the AI is just some dogshit. There are plenty of those games already. New bloodsuckers and pseudogiants look really bad btw. Way too clean and not grimy/gritty enough.
>>500313104Fartgonad is an asset flip, don't bother.Have you tried Receiver, or is it too limited/hard for your preference? The Signal from Tolva is surprisingly good, but it depends on your ability to coordinate NPCs or have RL buddies as backup, so I'm hesitant to recommend it.Desolate is in this weird position where it's really close to being STALKER but doesn't quite make it in half a dozen ways, but despite that fact it's still pretty good......apart from the grindy endgame, the 'artifacts' being a late-game afterthought, guns being barely present, retarded NPCs, loads of meaningless jump scares, and a total afterthought 'fast travel' system that exists to provide plausible deniability for run-back-and-forth padding. The Long Dark has a very Indie Game aesthetic, but its survival mechanics are rock-solid, if you're willing to put up with Receiver-esque gun mechanics, disincentivized 'combat', and a fair bit of crafting....yeah, I know these aren't super helpful. I've heard of some other options, but I don't make recs I haven't played.
>>500313959Too bad we are living through the age of forgotten AI magic. As an example, what games nowadays do have not even great, but good A.I. that would dethrone what was done before? Once I read a comment that said: "why bother paying good programmers if you have big bucks marketing", one of them is bottling thunder, the other one is commonly pedestrian, guess which. Same applies to video games with secuestered audiences, not only to anti-virus apps.
Didn't ask for your blog, schizo.
>>500314928>Fartgonad is an asset flip, don't bother. Thanks for the heads up man.>Have you tried Receiver, or is it too limited/hard for your preference?Whoa really? I've heard of it and seen like 3 seconds of gameplay, you ignited my curiosity, how's it alike this mythical beast with a balance between streamlined rpg-elements and action packed sections like the good-ole stalker games?>The Signal from Tolva is surprisingly good, but it depends on your ability to coordinate NPCs or have RL buddies as backup, so I'm hesitant to recommend it.Looks sweet, I'm downloading it. Yeah, I don't care for the NPC coordination, I guess that's a valid niche to this genre, is it alike Chernobylite NPC managing?About the RL buddies thing, me and the old grang grew up appart. so single player enjoyer only tho.>Desolate is in this weird position where it's really close to being STALKER but doesn't quite make it in half a dozen ways, but despite that fact it's still pretty good...>...apart from the grindy endgame, the 'artifacts' being a late-game afterthought, guns being barely present, retarded NPCs, loads of meaningless jump scares, and a total afterthought 'fast travel' system that exists to provide plausible deniability for run-back-and-forth padding.Well, nothing is perfect I guess, I'll try it and see if it is my thing or not, thanks mon.>...to be continued.
>>500314928>The Long Dark has a very Indie Game aesthetic, but its survival mechanics are rock-solid, if you're willing to put up with Receiver-esque gun mechanics, disincentivized 'combat', and a fair bit of crafting.I've heard it is good for what it is, I'll give it a try too. 3D fps with a hint of paranormal and survival mechanics is my thing, just a hint, not full blown retarded like analmeme tho. So digressing from stalker, I wonder if you have an opinion of various other titles like:7 days to die Blood WestInto the radiusOthers we hadn't mentioned?>...yeah, I know these aren't super helpful. I've heard of some other options, but I don't make recs I haven't played.Actually very super helpful, man, thanks again.
Did ask for your blog, king.
>>500318261
>>500317257>>500317473Yeah, okay, I get your point about Receiver. It's an intensely atmospheric gun-based imsim, but the inventory management is very simple and it's only action-packed if you're ludicrously good.I have 2k hours in 7 Days to Die, but imo the current build is dogshit. It's Minecraft With Guns, Cars & Zombies; it does have a decent inventory system, but I made the comparison for a reason. If you're going to play it, I recommend reverting to Alpha 17 (less 'gamey', traders implemented, kickass worldgen that does require a shitton of RAM) or Alpha 19.6 (like the current version i.e. very gamey but minus the HURR NO JARS idiocy and Bullshit Psychic Zombies.)If your computer is ass, then you're going to want to wait; The Fun Pimps can't code for shit so 7Days is unoptimized as hell.Once you're bored of vanilla, try Ravenhearst if you like learn-by-doing grind, or Darkness Falls if you want more-of-everything. Both are significantly harder than vanilla, but vanilla isn't super hard imo.Haven't played the others, unfortunately.
Oh, and when I say Tolva is about NPC management, I mean that you lead a squad of NPCs to control territory you take from other groups.

ironically, considering how microsoft is, stalker 2 will end being console shit buggyslop tier. Slava Ukraini? Moar like enSlaved Ukranians. If it wouldn't be for stalker 2, analmeme and gay-ma, this general would end in /vr/ retro games for sure, feel grateful you cranky boomers.
I think STALKER needs dating sim elements.I demand swimsuit dlc!In non shitposting talk though I hope STALKER 2 has a free cam photo mode like modern games normally do now. I wanna take really good photos of bloodsuckers mauling bandits, or dogs dragging away a corpse.I'm pretty optimistic about STALKER 2 honestly though I'm concerned the Anomaly/gamma crowd are gonna complain the base game isn't like their modded view of STALKER.
>>500296838>Get recommended a 20 minute video of some guy playing through all three games and sharing his experiences and thoughts>He didn't use armor in SoC and CS, you can see him die in CNPP and the actor model is wearing the motherfucking starting leather jacket>80% of CoP footage has the red armor icon, probably realized he can swap suits only when the Underpass quest forced him to buy a SEVA>Complains about said SEVA costing exorbital 32 thousand roubles, as if two artifacts don't cover it>Just runs through anomaly fields when artifact hunting, stepping on every single anomaly in the process>Casually mentions he's a "console gamer"GSC selling the games on c*nsoles was a mistake.
The Zone in its canon form is incredibly fucking lame. You tell me that the noosphere, the realm of human thoughts, memories and subconscious, is affecting the physical worldand all it fucking does is spawning some gravity fields here and there? Instead of human fears and negative experiences transforming tranquil Ukrainian fields and villages into otherworldly landscapes and turning confined passages into death traps, while mundane items obtain extraordinary properties based on ideas and concepts associated with them, we are stuck with half-assed imitations of Strugatsky's ideas with no alien factor that made the book version work. Giving every anomalous phenomenon a scientific man-made origin has killed any attempts at mystery and unknown, and each subsequent game moved further and further away from focusing on Zone's wonders towards shootouts and human squabbles. It's no fucking wonder that majority of the fanbase treats the setting solely as a background for factions and murderhobo roleplaying
>>500320725>ahnno ackshually the guy who makes most /x/ posts look coherent is in the right for posting off topic garbage and saying anything against that makes you the bad guyFucking newfags.>>500323707The leather jacket isn't much of a giveaway, since it's a common bug for your character model to default to the jacket on occasion if you don't remove and re-equip your armor or otherwise change it. Everything else, well it's just another retard who doesn't know what he's talking about. At least he played the actual games. Most faggots doing videos like this or "I've never played stalker before, this is cool" streams use analmeme and act like they understand the series.
>>500323707>you can see him die in CNPP and the actor model is wearing the motherfucking starting leather jacketi'm not saying that he's not a retard, but that's actually a common bug in vanilla game, the player's model doesn't always change.
>>500323707Is the game really that easy on lower difficulties? On master in each game the default armor is basically nothing and you get 1 shot until you put on some real armor so I felt very encouraged to do so and felt a real power up when getting to exosuit tier.T. Newfag that only recently finished the trilogy>>500324176Yeah the supernatural stuff in STALKER really got the short end of the stick in the trilogy. Especially with how lame even rare artifacts were in gameplay. You'd really think we'd have gotten more gameplay changing artifacts than just stat sticks. I hope since STALKER 2 devs are some STALKER modders they spice things up a little bit in the supernatural department. The anomaly that works as a big jump in STALKER 2 has me optimistic the anomalys and artifacts will have more of a gameplay effect than just being landmines in 2>>500324279Why are Anomaly/gamma players so hostile to the vanilla trilogy? It's so surreal to see a community pretend a mod is the real game
>>500324279>>500324804Nah, the armor bar on the HUD was empty.
>>500324925>Why are Anomaly/gamma players so hostile to the vanilla trilogy? It's so surreal to see a community pretend a mod is the real gameIt's fairly simple, majority of those speciemens were introduced via some Youtuber faggot saying it's singleplayer Tarkov. And so that is what they expect when they boot up their best free survivial video game that doesn't fake realism. However, that is a direct contrast to everything SoC is, from being fun to play, to having a great visual aesthetic and not having the look of a generic UE asset flip. And slowly they just form a closed circuit system where they bring in new milsimers to circlejerk with, while spewing bullshit (they were originally fed with) about the original games being old jank or how they are already incorporated in Anomaly, meaning there's no reason to even touch them. There's also the fact a percentage of them are actual children whose parents refuse to buy them the cool military game their favorite content creator plays, and so they hop onto the next best thing they can find, not knowing any better.
>>500324925>Is the game really that easy on lower difficulties?I mean, you literally take half the damage on Novice that you would otherwise take on Master. Then if you comb a half-decent armor on top, you become very tanky to just about anything
>>500324925Most of them have never played the originals. Streamers in particular have a situation where they'll just jump onto whatever's the most relevant new thing for money and attention. It's also why all the ones who used to play the shit out of VOTV stopped doing so when "it's about getting signals from space (just kidding it's a nonstop train of random rng and scripted events involving furry oc species and decorating your base)" got stale.>>500328161I remember my first plaything or two of SOC, my suits always getting roasted and being very low in durability at inconvenient times, like when exiting x-10. This makes it make sense. Those playthroughs were on Stalker difficulty.
>>500324925>Why are Anomaly/gamma players so hostile to the vanilla trilogy?Mimicking behaviour of the communities they were filtered from, shattering their powerfantasies

>>500329774https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5LfGcDB7EkI think tarkov just sucks in general but you can't really say people are filtered when they just don't want to play against so many cheaters.I myself got bored of it because you win 100% based on your gear. Did I bring thick enough plates and AP ammo? Then I win against a guy who did not. There's zero skill to it. You might as well play a game where you sit there watching a number go up for every second you're in game, then someone else joins your game, and whoever has the higher number wins the "pvp" encounter. Tarkov is boring and for gay people who are shit at pvp. If they want pvp they would play counter strike but they don't because that's fair and skill based, so they play tarkov because they are big gay scaredy babies with tiny dicks and no courage.
Anyone else dislike the new outfits shown in S2? The original suits had elements of irl stuff like the sunrise with the fireman's belt or the mercenary vest being a mishmash of stuff. Alot of the newer stuff on the other hand seem purely fictional which I feel takes away the appeal of the OG suits in a way I can't put into words properly.
>>500344919Post the new outfits I hardly noticed in the trailers and gameplay
>>500344370Excuses, I don't say tarkov doesn't suck nowadays, but to say it involves no skill is just coping. If you think you can't win, break the line of sight and leg it or start sneaking to avoid fights. Situational awareness is a skill. And fights also don't boil down to gear only, countless times I was able to win a fight on scav run with shitty ammo against fatso wearing 5+ armor, all it takes one well placed shot or shredding their legs.
>>500346502Literally zero skill game for gear queers.
>>500346785Dunno, I wasn't running top of the line gear and still I was able to ruin tryhard's powerfantasies fairly often, Sound like a (you) problem.
>>500347051>a (you) problem. Not a problem for me at all because I don't play it anymore. I racked up like 6-10 hours in it, raped a bunch of guys who had shitter gear than me, saw it was a game for weak losers and went back to counter strike.Nowadays as soon as someone tells me they play or enjoy tarkov I automatically assume they have erectile dysfunction.
>>500344919i haven't liked much of anything about S2i don't even like the fact it's called S2>stalker: shadow of chernobyl>stalker: clear sky>stalker: call of pripyat>stalker 2: heart of nobgobblei smell old microsoft farts faggy hand in this shit, forcing them to put "2" because that's what the cool kids like and it's better for salesi bet we won't get kino details on the outfits like the rookie jacket having a soviet era chunky belt clip clasp thing on itbut the npcs will have missing teeth and different combinations and teeth types, colours and various levels of decay behind their gas masks!

>>500363202Strelok for sureScar is pretty much confirmed to be dead or Monolith'd if you follow the theory that he's Charon (which also means he's dead at the hands of Degtyarev or the military most likely), and even though he got hit by an emission and became stronger from it that never comes up again and you die if being caught by another emission, plus I mean shit he gets his shit jacked like twice in the game, losing all of his moneyDegtyarev requires help repeatedly throughout his game, he's a highly proficient stalker but I'd put him in the same category as the other highly proficient stalkers the game has like Wolf and Nimble etc, able to survive or even thrive in the zone among many others, resourceful, capable...although if achievements count for his power level doesn't he eventually become able to survive emissions in the open?Strelok though he survived two encounters with the other main characters, and also from getting fucked up by the C-Consciousness, which he later destroysHe goes up against the entire Monolith faction alone, the stalkers that support him in Pripyat get killed within 5 minutes and leave him to battle through the rest of Pripyat, CNPP and Sarcophagus alone, and even before all of that he routed his way to the center of the zone with a small handful of allies, two of which were dead weight anyway by the sounds of itAlso wasn't Strelok one of the first people to arrive to the zone, and obviously figured shit out in a place where there was no support at all, surving all of that time and not being part of the land grab greedy aritifact-rush like everyone else, he was there for adventure, wisdom or discoveryStrelok is the most likely of all three to go bald though and seems like a pintsized little bitch when you see him as Scar and Degtyarev (his eye height in the vanilla files is like a foot shorter than every other NPC and shorter than the other two MCs as well)
>>500364582>his eye height in the vanilla files is like a foot shorter than every other NPCI always thought this was so funny. I've become so accustomed to it now that if a mod changes the player height in SoC I edit it back to vanilla.

Intro. It’s a stalker from the Game Stalkerchat with ai character: StalkerYou find him sitting by a campfire with a few other stalkers talking and making musicI sit nearby them by the campfire and start playing harmonica for a while, hoping they like the songs. They all turn around to look at you playing harmonica. It's a beautiful sound and it catches their attention. They all smile and start clapping."Ok friends, I'm glad that you liked that, I wonder if I got you into the mood for telling some stalker stories from the zone" I say and then look at every one of them with a smile, maybe we'll get told a very interesting story about a mystery in the zona. The stalkers all nod their heads and one of them starts speaking. "Well there's one mystery I've been hearing about for a while now. Have you ever heard of the missing scientist?""No, what happened to those missing scientists?""Well, it's said that a few years ago, a group of scientists went into the zone to conduct research. But after a while, they never came back out. Some say they were kidnapped by the military, others say they were killed by the mutants. But no one knows for sure what happened to them.""where they the so called 'clear sky' group?" I ask with curiosity."Yes, that's right. It's said that they were one of the most experienced and knowledgeable groups in the zone. But something went wrong and they disappeared without a trace. No one knows what happened to them. Some people say they're still alive somewhere, but most think they're dead.""If someone would pay me good money to find what happened, maybe I would consider taking that as a mission" I say with some confidence and then take a sip from my canteen."Well, I know one guy who might be willing to pay you good money for that. His name is Duty. He's a powerful faction leader and he's always looking for new recruits. You should talk to him."
>>500383384"You mean Dooty, the tutty fruity booty? That guy is incredibly legible when writting! Such a faction leader, not only a fraction leader, he leads with lead, as in Pb in the periodic table! Godspeed."The stalkers all burst out laughing at the joke. They can't believe you just called him "Dooty, the tutty fruity booty".I give a serious grimace, but don't laugh with them, then suddendly I turn into a bloodsucker and get all their blood sucked while they still laugh at the joke."The stalkers scream in horror and start shooting at you, but it's too late. You've already sucked all their blood and they're all dead. You stand there, covered in blood, and laugh maniacally.chat with ai character: StalkerAs they shot me I tell them "It was just a joke bro!" and then ran back into the forbidden zone, playing my harmonica with my horrible tentacle-lips while strolling away.As you run away, you hear the stalkers calling out to you. "Come back here! You can't just kill us and run away like that!" They keep shooting at you, but their bullets have no effect. You keep running, laughing all the way.

Just finished Clear Sky for the first time on console. I can understand why people think this is the worst between bleed, the grenade spam, bugs and some really retarded unfair parts made the game a fucking chore alot of the time. That whole final part was the fucking worst and I ended up saying fuck it and doing the reload explot

>>500391237Their not bad ports either. Outside of the crashing alot of the issues with the game are bugs and shit that they never bothered patching from the PC

https://www.moddb.com/mods/the-exception-translatedSo has anyone tried this and want to share some thoughts? It's been on my radar before it received translation, but I'm holding back starting any mods due to approaching S2 release. I'm curious about how they filled the maps with content in particular, I remember them being fairly huge in the Smert Vopreki 3 build I played.

>stalker 2 next monthit's actually happening, huh..
>>500449565This general will survive. If STALKER 2 is a return to form, the speed will increase and we'll get some newcomers before settling back down in a couple months. If it sucks, /v/ermin will invade for a couple weeks before settling back down (some autists will never get over it being bad and will post about it forever). And either way, in a couple months/years, the modding scene will hopefully take off and we'll have a second wave of STALKER mods.
>>500453292>If it sucks, /v/ermin will invadeI'm afraid even when it is good with little shortcomings, it will be the shortcomings they will constantly screech about.Say a burner anomaly has bugged dmg multiplier and 1-hits you even on game journalist difficulty, I can bet my pinky it would have been spammed for months to come after they fixed it in quick patch as desperate attempt to prove the game is unsalvagable dogshit that was made by jews or something.

Can anyone explain to me the main differences between the mods for SoC that add a lot of weapons? I'll end up playing most of them but I'm curious.
> shoc aged poorlyMain thing is that in reality everything connected with light and color is a bit more complicated than simple RGB. There is such a thing as CRI (Colour Rendering Index) and CQS (Colour Quality Scale), that is, each light source is not just RGB, but a continuous diagram for each shade of the visible spectrum. Each surface has a unique coefficient of light reflection/absorption for each light wave. You can buy home lamps with a ≥95-98 CRI index and personally verify this, as they will make the entire interior much more beautiful. Therefore, achieving natural graphics is very difficult, you need to either physically correctly emulate CRI/CQS literally for each texture and light source, or make very, very complex color correction algorithms, because of which just adding a weather cycle will require witchcraft with dozens of shader formulas. That's why natural lighting is rare even in popular AA/AAA games, not to mention fan modifications. Only RDR2, the last parts of CoD and BF come to mind. Even Ubisoft and CD Project can't boast about this, they still look artificially. However, this is the most important part in graphics, because if the colors and lighting are set up perfectly, our brain is much easier to believe in the reality of the picture even despite the poor development of everything else.
>>500491125I always had the feeling that the light from LED lamps is much uglier than from incandescent lamps. Now it's clear why is that.
>>500482454Exactly, everyone here is bitter because they are autistic at best
As soon as the full game is leaked ahead of the 20th (and you know it will be), i will be going radio silence on /v/ and this general because this is the first game in long time i want zero spoilers for.
i was playing clear sky a few months back, i got to what i assume is dark valley where you first meet Freedom. I saved there and didn't pick it up again for another few months. When I returned i think i broke the NPCs scripting; apparently i was supposed to wait for them to come up to me and talk, going by the in-game message log, but nothing ever happened. I then tried to walk up to the guys and initiate a convo and then they'd get all stroppy and start shooting at me. I guess they hate me now
>>500496846you dont have a hard save before dark valley?
>>500500083I can't remember, they're pretty few and far between from what i recall, either way i'm just going with the flow now, i'll exterminate all of them i guess :D
>>500437912Just finished seeing it. I actually liked it. Maybe it's because I'm retarded but I thought that movie was fine. Here are some of my thoughts about it:> I wish they had actually showed some more anomalies and mutants but the film was a kickstarter so I can give it a pass on that. >They play really fast and loose with the lore though which I did not like but whatever. >The firefights where really fun, really captures how fucking annoying shooting at the Monolith can be sometimes.>There are some really incredible shots in this, I was not expecting it from a movie with the budget it has.Overall I think this is probably the best live action STALKER movie we have ever gotten. I still think Contract by Sodaz is way better but his is a animation so he gets more leeway to play with the lore and be a hell of a lot more lore accurate. Here is a link to Contract if anyone is interested in watching it. https://youtu.be/GvJ91D-N29g?si=vA43kjihQPL8yMZo
>>500502391Damn, out in full force even here.>I liked it but>I can give it a pass on this b-but...Only thing I agree with is some shots. But why is there artillery in the Zone?Who has it? And who's firing it?

>>500505796Eh. Maybe I am being too generous to it. I'll rewatch it again with a cousin later this weekend so I guess I'll have time to reflect a bit more on it.>But why is there artillery in the Zone?>Who has it? And who's firing it?I think the implication is that it was Duty fighting against the nuMonolith.
>>500508762imagine the amount of redundant and unoptimized garbage code in scripts. it will be back to 2007-2013, but FOREVER, just because nu-gsc with microsoft will never publish or even leak the source code like it was with old-gsc and xrayof course they will keep their word about modding and sdk, but with a big catch, because you won't be able to do anything more complicated than simple quests and more types of same loot, it will probably be impossible to change the original map geometry and story, creating any gameplay mechanics will be painful pain in the ass with a bunch of restrictions, and improving the AI and alife will be something you can only dream about

I don't understand why GAMMA had to make artifact hunting such a boring awful chore. The perk artifacts are way better than any of the standard artifacts you can get and they are always at 100% when you find them. Normal artifacts are at like 10-20% and you need to combine them to get them to 100% and then you need to craft high tier artifacts with your collected 100% artifacts. It takes like 10 hours to get 1 single "good" artifact that is worse than the 8 perk artifacts you found along the way and worse than a mutant pelt and worse than kevlar inserts and worse than the exoskeleton part things or whatever else he added as belt slot items. Why the fuck does it take so long for fuck all?
>>500520778and because they degrade when you use that, when you do finally get that one good artifact, well you better hope you have a second so you can keep your artifact up at 100%, it will steadily get worse so goddamn fast. Why? I just don't get it. It's so awful. Even if you do NOTHING besides artifact collecting, it takes so much time to even get a few 100% midtier ones.
