Ok as promised, here is the science I just did:I think i found the damage formula, at least for physical damage. Get ready because this is pretty complex:DMG = ATK - DEF Plus or minus some variance.Real PhD math material right here. Took a long time to figure it out. No wonder the JPs are struggling.So I'm pretty certain that Heavy Attack gives you a +50% multiplier to your ATK, then +15% per level after that. That's why it's so effective against slimes. My MC happens to have exactly 100 attack power so this was pretty easy to figure out. Heavy Strike did 50 more damage than a normal attack, Lv2 did 65 more damage, Lv3 did 80 more damage.Now for the thing I ACTUALLY wanted to check! I just pulled Gerulf so let's look at Gerulf's Eruption Strike.Due to variance in both enemy stats and damage, and the fact that I just pulled him and he keeps leveling up every time i restore his SP at the inn, it's hard to get consistent numbers, but here's what i got:Eruption strike multiplier: +55% (between 50 and 60 anyway)Eruption strike w/ 2H Hammer: Between +80 and +100%, it was kind of all over the place. I want to say 90%. Either way this means he is ABSOLUTELY locked into using hammers.And because nobody else is going to do it (and also because I just kinda wanted to anyway), I will now INHERIT IT ONTO MY MC to see what the penalty is:Using a dagger: +55% multiplier.Using a 2H hammer: ...+55% multiplier.So inherited eruption strike doesn't actually deal less base damage, it simply loses the bonus to 2H Hammers. At this point in time, I consider it to be a VERY BAD inherit, doing almost identical damage to Heavy Attack, with no accuracy bonus and double the SP cost. And you also the earth soil junk. Which drops strong earth equipment with greater base stats than iron gear. And with earth elemental attack on weapons (unless the enemy resists earth damage, these weapons will be really strong). And armour that resists earth damage while having strong base stats. And if you find Fey junk. Then consider yourself a lucky adventurer since Fey junk has really strong loot. And if you're moderately lucky, the chests can drop mid-grade ore too for upgrading +10 and above. A party member with high evade trap will likely make Den of Earth easier though. It's a den of traps. But also. The static enemy right before the teleporter at the end, has a guaranteed chest drop when defeated. I wish I had realized that a little bit sooner personally.
