Japanese itself is ridiculously vague which is used for plot twists in shounen manga and misunderstandings in romcoms.The meaning has to be assumed based on previous knowledge and context, which is how plot twists regarding genders work as well as revelations like “that secret technique only requires a sacrifice, not necessarily the user”.A character previously introduced will have their gender known to us and therefore the author doesn’t need to specify all the time thay trait. But the MTL usually can’t “remember” something from another paragraph so it will either default to male pronouns or assume based on the current “knowledge” (for example: if the paragraph says a character is moaning cutely it may assume it’s a female character and translate as such in spite of a shota image shown to us).

Interestingly enough, bosses from the Demo were nerfed in full game. Queen Roach, Erubetie, Black Tanuki, Himiko etc. HP was slashed in half for them.
