You know that original game that has dumbass mechanics that make the game less fun in replays. Demons Souls and DR1 have a lot of them. I finished Off The Record and wanted to play it again to try and get 100% but when I finished DR1 I just felt like I didn't want to touch that game for a long time. Item Burden still sucks but I've been enjoying how Demons Souls lore makes sense unlike the next 3 games. The visuals are also unique, most of the mutations didn't turn people into mindless ghouls but into all sorts of differently shaped creatures. One problem with the trilogy is how homogenized the designs are, there's also a unique Wildlife that's missing from DS1 and DS2. DS3 did well to bring it back

Finally playing Ds2 and yeah its bad, I can clap before my character reacts to input and its worse with more equip - its like playing with high ping and shitty netcode, no fun... and you need to spend points separately into equip load and roll stat on top of stamina to make it feel remotely playable I dont even mind extra punishment for deaths and ganks/traps mob placement - its a good challenge and test of your awareness but the controls are killing any enjoymentWorld and pacing are subpar too, lighting is mostly bad - huge donwngrade even from DS1, but again I could live with that if combat didn't feel so shit due to controls, its not just mechanical it kills any immersion too
