Dead.
Is it time for /indie/ to die for good?
Monarch mod for Sunless Skies is pretty fun. Lots of new mechanics and gear but it doesn't feel overpowered, meshes well with the base game and the art is great. It's been a long time since I've played so I don't know which story bits are new outside of a few tied to new mechanics, which seem fine.I'm just now leaving the Reach so I haven't even seen most of it, apparently there's a lot of new stuff in Albion.

I'm replaying citizen of earth for the first time in exactly 9 years(it's a coincidence), man that game sucks. I liked it a lot more 9 years ago. Right now it crashes constantly, the combat is extremely slow, it's full of game breaking bugs (freeze, softlock, sequence break, visual bugs, pretty much everything you can think of, even wrong voicelines) and the humor is mildly amusing at best. The game is way too easy, there is way too much combat, everything is way too slow. I quitted the game the first time because someone kept spoiling me everything but honestly, I think he did me a favour at this point.

Would definitely have liked some longer-lasting out of combat buffs for movespeed too. Also easy recommendation for Drova, haven't seen people talking about it. Top down indie game, entirely soaked in Gothic 1/2 DNA. No quest markers, given directions or general distinct areas to find stuff hidden away. Easy to wander to high level areas or find stuff real early. Took me 10 hours to get non-basic armor but seeing the ones I missed or didn't get early I could have gotten some in half the time or less. Anons, I'm currently playing Midnight Suns, and it's surprisingly fun, honestly. Like many modern games it takes a bit to get going, and the running around the hub-world is a bit annoying, but alltogether it's a surprisingly decent / fun game. I think because recently there was so much tripple A slop, and specifically hero slop like Avengers and whatnot, this game kinda flew under the radar. But it really is a pretty solid video game for 20 bucks on sale right now.

Some part of me wants to do a Vintage story run where I never go past past stone tools and just chill out hunting and gathering in the woods. But something tells me that would actually get quite boring quite quickly. Are there any good innawoods survival games? I've payed Darkwood already, obviously. Been wondering if Singleplayer DayZ or Tarkov might hit the vibe I'm going for but I think the latter doesn't quite scratch the itch for lack of a persistent open world.Modded Stalker was a very good fit for a while, but I dislike how the various zones make the map seem way smaller than it actually is.Anyone got any good ideas?

Has any of you thought about how multiplayer games would change when humanity will become a sparefaring civilization, set up habitats on satellites, planets and construct stations and lagrange points? All major multiplayer titles would have to support P2P or selfhosting because official servers could only be set up in larger setllements like colonies, so station plebs would still be able to play with eachother.Or how that would impact the popularity of realtime multiplayer games, and how devs would find gamedesign solutions for +5 minute ping times without resorting to play-by-mail architecture?
>>501962096Never had that thought about video games, but about the internet in general. All realtime application like voice calls and livestreaming would segregate into communities around each planet since I doubt anyone would be interested to watch a mars streamer with 3-20mins transition delay.I would dig a return to a slower internet because of that, but I doubt that would actually happen
>>501962096>All major multiplayer titles would have to support P2P or selfhostingThis would be a improvement, going back to better times.I never paid for any of the recent cancer that doesn't let users host their games. Most of it is just DRM anyways and easily bypassed. Excluding MMOs of course. However sadly the resurgence of giving users back control over their software is not gonna happen. Big companies would simply set up servers in any market that's worth it.And there is no working around interstellar light delays. There will be no real-time gameplay with that kind of delay. At best games could have centrally-hosted leaderboards and long-term features players all over the worlds can slowly influence. Shit that can be synced hourly or even slower. But the bigger question is how will internet develop to cope with the light delays. Web 1.0 is fine, but you can't even shitpost on 4chan from Mars.
>>501963237>no working around interstellar light delaysOr even interplanetary.Real-time gameplay between Earth and Moon would be barely possible, given some game design concessions to mask the delay as much as possible.Think of early tabtarget+long cast bar style MMOs but taken to the extreme, or similar designs that can smoothly delay the result of actions for up to a few seconds.
>>501962096Unless we create some super bullshit FTL communication MP games will be confined to each planet, even a space station would introduce so much latency that trying to play a game would be retarded. This is why I laugh at retards like Muskrat who think interplanetary anything will be a thing, if we ever colonize any other planet it will need to be 200% self sustaining from day 0 otherwise it will simply die because any help will be months away with communication itself being half an away at best. This will either lead to the predominance of single player or just P2P coming up again.Either way indies would continue to flourish and have actual differences between coloniesOr it would all become Factorio-like
>>501962096>>501963237>>501963472>>501963514This reminds me of how much I hate the death of servers in favor for lobbies in general. It's been a long time since I played any Multiplayer games, but the last few all had lobbies that reshuffled after each mach. I made some genuine long lasting friendships where I even traveled to another country to meet an online buddy just by spending a few hours on a ctf_2fort server. I would have never bonded with that guy if after one match we'd be thrown into different lobbies again
>>501963514>even a space station would introduce so much latencyNah. The internet latency on ISS is comparable to playing UO on a dialup in the 90s (except you have a shit ton more bandwidth) and it's nowhere near as good as it could be.
>>501906841grats anon you can follow discord guides, im proud of you
>4PM>thinking of going to the store to buy new shoes>realize it will be dark by the time I come backfuck it, I'll go tomorrow, /indie/ time
>>501963514FTL is literally impossible by the current rules we operate with. Weightless particles (light) go at the universal speed limit (c for causality). This causes a lot of really weird things like light going at the same speed no matter the perspective and time dilating.
>>5019634722.5 second pure lightspeed delay is managable. You won't play a competitive FPS, but an RTS without heavy micro? Pretty feasable. And obviously all that assuming that all players are literally sitting on top of the transceivers, and you don't have to route traffic on both bodies. I bet on around 3-4 second ping from earth to moon for an average consumer in near plausible future, which is also enough to keep internet going with more rudimentary open protocols which do not require constant communication between client and server like in the good ol days.

Unless you're in a hurry there's no reason to not at least learn it so if you want to you can level it later. A handful of crafting recipes can be enough to see you to the end of the game, so you don't need every skill -or even every possible craft- to finish the game. I do, but it's because I wanted to write down every recipe for every skill and every wisdom tree flavor text. There are chickens and vegetables in the last garden. Somehow I missed this for two entire playthroughs. You can serve many beverages using the utensil wardrobe next to the kitchen stove or the small one in the lodge. >>501972813Salons are exactly what they're called: when visitors come by, if you help them they'll leave a card you can use to record their contact for later- you have Olympe's for exemple. You can also invite a villager by using the writing case as the topic when you knock on their door (but no more than one per salon). Visitors each have preferences so it can be a good idea to take note of who will eat what. But no need to worry if you didn't know what to do the first time someone came, they'll eventually return when an incident that matches their interest is open.

>>501962096In the old days, when real time multiplayer was impossible, plenty of other systems existed. Sending a message through space takes several minutes. Optimization (like limiting the character able to be sent to just capital letters) can reduce the amount of data needed to be sent but everything would still be limited by how fast we can send data. For example a lunar base could potentially play a turned based game (with timer disabled) and chat at a reasonable speed but would suffer from a pretty big ping on everything else. We won't see interplanetary esport tournaments (we rarely even see planetary esports tournaments) pretty much ever. But someone playing chess... Well, this has already been done from the international space station. The same could be applied to games like civilizations (which already has an asynchronious mode). Generally determinist games, by that I mean games that doesn't rely on the host for decision making, could potentially be played albeit not comfortably. They would also need to be adapted to not require as much heartbeats and to have more robust systems in case of desync. Surprisingly, I strongly believe that single player games, videos, movies, etc would not be a major problem in space beyond the usual logistic of having working computers, working literally everything in space, a simple reason for that is that you only need to send the data once to a data center. Which is already how those things work, steam and youtube both have servers containing their games and video data all over the planet... It would simply take more time to get updated, likely a lot more but it would be possible. So you might watch a movie a week late (and get spoiled on earth message boards), forums like reddit and 4chan could function in space. I would also expect some sort of service to access earth's internet from space to pop up and go at a snail pace (think using a vpn with a 300 bits modem).
>>501962096So yes, you could play any game with the tag: "Asynchronous Multiplayer", communicate at a decent rate from a planet to it's moons, communicate at an email rate from a planet to another planet (5 to 20 minutes), stay up to date with other planets and potentially have access to standard medias if big companies are ready to invest a stupid amount of money to setup a way to transfer data. There have already been AMA done in space through NASA.The most important part of asynchronous multiplayer would be to maximize the amount of information you can send per action and minimize the size of the information. For example if turns last 10 seconds and the game last several hundreds of turns, this would be unplayable on different planets but something like civilization where you can just communicate the position change of units, the change in towns situations, etc. It would be a lot more viable as the turns are longer and you can optimize to only send relevant information (ignore any thing that isn't explicitely changed, agree on all the rng rules before the game start, etc).

I wonder how those wizards got such low cycle times
>>502028726Maintenance of installations & the actual physical qualities of materials. Pressurized environments would require perfect sealage against, well, the lack of pressure. So microfractures (molecular-level failures) will inevitably evolve into microscopic fractures (aka the beginning of structural failure), meaning your superstructures will inevitably turn into swiss cheese as the sun, meteoric impacts, human usage and local interactions with the internal atmosphere degrades the entire station. The more complex shit is the more fragile it gets, specially if it has moving parts, specially if a person touches, specially if it's in contact with oxygen, changes temperature due to electrical or chemical reasons, etc, etc, etc. And just about everything that gets used requires eventual replacements, usually in the 5-10 years frame.Getting all this out of orbit is ridiculously inefficient in terms of cargo weight vs. propelant requiredThere's already been hard fi movies showing how laughably easy it is to total an entire installation on the slightest human error, and these implies "oops I didn't follow proper procedure" without even taking into account that materials fail even when following proper maintenance and usage procedures. There's no such thing as infinite shelf life, even for the biggest chunk of metal you can think of.You operate on magical thinking where you think we can just teleport the literal tons of basic periodic table elements required to sustain an operation of such scale, on top of the heavy elements (metals) and machinery. I hear footsteps, rummaging in my house, my cats meowing, my mother coughing once in a while, knocking at my door, I smell gas or even something burning for a split second, etc. I live alone and I don't currently have cats.Jesus christ. I'm so jumpy, just one of these would be enough to annoy me. I can have trouble sleeping because a neighbour two floors above is walking around. I can't imagine hearing someone cough or knocks on my door, that'd drive me crazy and I'd end up assuming I'm always hallucinating.
>>502033469take you are meds
>>502033672I'd rather keep the exact diagnosis to myself. It's normally pretty manageable when I take my meds, less than an oddity a week in general and only very minor things. Right now I only get one or two every few hours, it was a lot worse a few weeks ago.>>502033692Knowing that something is a hallucination doesn't stop it from being stressful. Your senses still tell you that what you see or hear is real. They also tend to match what you expect, like for example if you saw a decent size spider crawling on your desk or on your wall, you wouldn't think it's a hallucination right away. And even if you tell yourself that it's not a real spider, you would still see a spider. In my case, stress makes them worse so knowing that they're fake doesn't help.>>502035258I literally can't. >>502033446issues with the material are solved by using natural formations and drilling underground habitats where you only have to support seals which direcly interact with the outside, and not the whole superstructureissues with propulsion are solved by ntp. just need to find a way to store all the protium. otherwise it's going to be much cheaper and efficient than burning shittons of lox. and if you're talking terra-mars here, the moon will have to be colonized first to avoid the atmospheric burns. you know the rocket equation, and you know that doing a terra-moon;moon-mars trips on two separate vehicles would be more efficient than a direct transit.human error is solved by proper training and advancements in biological research. with your logic, iss couldnt've been supported because some retard forgetting to close the airlock would vent the entire station. this didn't happen because only actully worthy are allowed there, and i don't think we'll hit a demographic crisis by trying to select individuals with functioning nerves between their ears.obviously all factories will need to be self-sustainable and closed cycle with as much autonomy possible, but that doesn't make production impossible, especially on the moon.
>>502033446>That tard hitting his head against a wall just caused a sealing breach that killed the entire lunar station
>>502038420>Knowing that something is a hallucination doesn't stop it from being stressfulI mean, how do you know what's a hallucination? Is it like a dream, where you can sometimes get a grip and realize that it's not real?
When are we getting a sequel to a hat in time or at least another game by the same team?
>>502038784You don't most of the time. You can know factually that something is false, for example I know that I don't have a cat, that my mother is not here and that haunts don't appear in lord bafford's mansion. It's pretty much the same thing as getting a jumpscare, your body reacts and a second later your mind says "wait, false alarm". When I smell something burning, I still jump out of my seat to check but since it only last a few seconds, I know that it's an hallucination if I can't smell it outside or inside my room after getting up. If it was a real fire, the smell wouldn't just disappear instantly as if nothing had happened. It's literally your perception that is wrong. It's not like in movies, understanding that something is a hallucination won't make it just fade away. It might make it blink out of existance as soon as you turn your head and it goes out of your mind but you can't pinpoint an exact moment where it stopped, or at least I can't. There is no clear "the hallucination stops" moment. There are also those you have absolutely no way to tell, one time I moved something on my desk and made my usb stick fall, I moved my entire desk to try to get it back and I couldn't find it. I ended up giving up. Thinking it had slided somewhere else. A month later, I found it on my shelf. I'm almost sure I just hallucinated it falling behind my desk.Actually, the best way to know if something is a hallucination or not is just... Ask someone else if they saw or heard what you saw or heard. The problem is that you don't always know that something is simply false and you just end up looking like a mad man moving furnitures around trying to find the keys you just drop, the keys that are attached to your lanyard keychain, the lanyard that you are currently wearing right now.

>>502093537And in terms of specific features and goals, BN aspires to be a more casual/simplified/easier version of DDA.Usually this just means not implementing features DDA does.BN is also faster if you're playing on a toaster, because it refuses to implement some major features because they have a small performance cost.

>>502160131lol your arguments are so hilariously conflicting. tedium good when bn does it, thing bad if dda does it.that aside, it doesn't sound like bn has the old mutation system since it was impossible to control mutating under it that precisely. or did you just get really fucking lucky with rng?artifact resonance though makes artifacts more interesting and adds rather fun endgame gameplay challenges because at high levels it WILL be more dangerous than anything else in either game.didnt know it could give you random mutations though, i thought only activated artifacts and yuggs did that. has bn removed them too? lol

>>502162654Let me rephrase what you just said: Do you consider making 10% of your game time bad to get good gear a bad thing?I'd argue that needing several hours of intense boredom and bad gameplay for the game to get good is in fact bad design. Most games in that genre doesn't take nearly as long as cdda to get going.

whoops, missed the birthday this year because i was working. posted alongside is the progenitor /indie/ thread in the archive where i found out and have been posting that our birthday is November 12th, 2015 making this the 9th anniversary of /indie/. I stopped posting because this site kept breaking when i tried to apply my plethora of filtered slurs. i have to verify my email or wait 15 minutes to post now.. LMAO. captcha wasnt bad enough then.
just remembered that i really enjoyed Deadeye Deepfake Simulacrum and really want to recommend this game. I played it years ago and it's still in early access but it was still fully playable back then already. if you are into immersive sims def. check it out, it has lots of different builds and options to interact with the world and usually i am not into this stuff but i really like the art style of this game.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4G7rHJ8g3ng

I want to play the Stalker trilogy, but Clear Sky is just too bugged for me.Maybe I'll knock down the difficulty and just play it for the story and for my autistic brain to allow me to play CoP and S2
>>502208759>tfw still no Emission mod for Project Zomboid
>>502208759there is a fan version of stalker which, if i remember correctly, combines several of the games together into one. i forgot what it's called but as far as i can remember it also has some QoL of features that some version of stalker do lack. you should be easily able to find it via google
>>502211254i actually found it. check out "stalker anomaly"."The stand-alone mod S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly 1.5.3 aims to be the most stable and customizable experience for fans of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. It's powered by the Monolith 64-bit engine, a custom fork of the X-Ray engine.Players can choose from a variety of ways to play the mod. Play story mode with 4 chapters of interesting quests, sandbox mode if you prefer to make up your own story, or the combat intense warfare mode where factions fight for influence and control over different areas of the zone.Anomaly is also highly customizable, play it the way you like and have the most fun. There are hundreds of settings that can be tweaked in the options menus and for more advanced changes, there are over 4000 addons for Anomaly that were created by other players to change the experience in more advanced ways."
>>502211426oh and this: "Anomaly is written ala a sequel to the original games, so it wants you have a certain level of understanding already"
>>502211426>>502211605Oh yeah, I'm aware of that. Even tried playing it for a brief time before deciding I'd want to play the originals first. My main two problems with it is that it requires a lot of tweaking to get it the way I want it and I'm not sure I want to learn a whole new modding ecosystem after having spent my whole life learning Bethesda's.And the second is that the type of open world sandbox that game aims for is held back by stalkers level design. Because it's all individual zones instead of a big open map the whole place just feels way smaller than it actually is.I'm sure I will play it sooner or later, but for now I'd like to get through the trilogy

I really like the trend of twin peaks inspired games from a few years ago. That was a fun trend. Better than mascot horror or the late 2000s early 2012s grey and brown grimy games.I never watched twin peaks, I don't even know what it's about. But it inspired some interesting games at least.

>>502288341Oh wow. I've been so conditioned by indie devs that a great game takes many years to follow up (FTL, spelunky, Hollow Knight ) that I wasn't even considering this as a possibility
I feel like Balatro is too consistent. You see pretty much the same stuff every run and can make the winning deck out of it more or less every time. It's missing a bit of the variety that made me sink 600 hours into StS.
I finished dishonored again, there is not much to say about it. I decided to go for a low chaos run but not a ghost no kill run and to use powers I don't usually use. No bend time. It's interesting to see some high chaos events in overall low chaos. It's still one of Arkane's best imo.

In other news...Valve continues to fuck with and revision Half-Life 2. The HL2 episodes are now moved away from your games library into the tools section as they have been merged into the base game, which is currently being given out for free.Undoubtedly this will have caused even more nagging idiosyncrasies with what the game looked and played like in 2004.One guy on the Steam forum notes that the walls in Kleiner's lab hav ebeen completely replaced with a generic blue brick texture.Valve, for the fucks sake, stop dipping your slick fingers in what used to be perfection.

Help me understand the lore of Blasphemous a bit.I was confused because The Penitent One is shown repeatedly praying and his brotherhood as well as his rosary have the symbol of the Twisted One, so I assumed he was a separated sect that follows The Miracle. But Wounds of Eventide happened and we killed The Higher Wills.Blasphemous 2 started and Anunciada descends from heaven explicitly telling him to kill the Child of the Miracle. So does that means The Penitent One and the Brotherhood of Silent Sorrow were never faithful to the Miracle/Higher Wills but some separate religion altogether? There is a bit of hiccup with The Twisted One’s rosary, but that guy was the first victim and the Miracle was worshipped afterwards, which means when he prayed he actually followed a religion that preceded the faith of The Miracle, and likely the same The Penitent One follows. Is that it?

Give me a few recommendations. Is there any indie survival game that allows you to create a comfy base in a dangerous horror world? >>502578764>some good story gamesPathologic 2, it touches on some of the philosophical themes of Darkwood, if you enjoyed those. It will make you suffer though, so be prepared for that.Other than that I second your question. Vintage Story felt a bit more spooky than Minecraft to me, but not nearly enough. And even though Darkwood is one of my favorite games of all time, I would be absolutely down for a version of that, that's a bit more sandboxy and lets you play on forever, if that makes sense>>502580316>outside of porn.what the?I do understand what anon means though. >>502583967How long to beat has Deltarune Chapters 1&2 at 7.5 hours while Undertale is only 7 hours.
>>502582062NTa either but it's pretty good, if you didn't like the first game but felt compelled by it, you should definitely try this one.Where the first was extremely janky, and somehow looked both ugly and boring, in this one they overhauled the gameplay basics and adhere to some modern game design sensibilities (graphics are much nicer), but it still has the same themes, atmosphere and inherent difficulty inherited from the first game. I just tested the standard distribution of blackjack in holocure. It's extremely rigged against you. I don't mean that the house has a slight edge or that the game gives slightly better cards to the house, I mean that the game will give you a 9, 10, Jack, Queen or King at hard 13 over 86% of the time (sample size 4286), there is no difference between the card shown in game and the chance, the chance was still 86% in the cases where 3 cards worth 10 were in play. On the other hand, if you have below 10, your chance is only about 20%. The dealer equalized a 17 or above 73% of the time. I do mean, equalized, not beat. If you had a 20, the dealer would get a 20 3/4 times. Out of the 4286 sample I had, the dealer got 631 blackjacks while the player only had 139.This is probabilistically impossible and if a casino had such odds, it would likely get an inspection for potential fraud. To give an idea, the chance of getting a natural blackjack is a bit less than 1/21 in real black. In holocure, the chance for the dealer was 1/6.79, 3 times as common as expected and the odds for the player were 48% worse than expected. The game seems to be based on single deck blackjack (I haven't noticed any repeat card during games but I wasn't really paying attention), if that's the case, the odds of getting a card worth 10 when 4 cards worth 10 are in play would be 25%. It happened at a rate of 79% with a noticeable lack of repeats (the sample is smaller for that as it only happened 22 times, which is an oddity unto itself). The roulette is also notable for having a negative value based on numbers alone (except for x2 which has a neutral value), I haven't played it much and didn't record my results so I can't tell if it's rigged in your favour of against you.Slots are rigged in your favour.High-low is badly implemented.tldr: Don't play blackjack in holocure, the game very actively cheats, just do arena, race, quiz and slots. They're all significantly better.
>>502592869>sample size 4286You need a better hobby.Or at least better games to test. Also if it's an unity game you could just have looked up the source code in a couple of minutes
>>502582062I could write a two page post about it, but a few things I like it are how it's a survival game, where the rules constantly change (the world changes around you, so a safe strat for one day might not work on the next) so it never gets into the boring loop where in the mid to lategame the survival mechanics are more of a chore than a challenge. Also I love the feeling of agency it gives you. Almost every major character can die to the plague, it's up to RNG but expend resources to increase their odds of survival. This can make it quite frustrating if they die, but also makes it infinitely more satisfying to save someone, because it really feels like you saved them through your actions. Also this way you actually make choices that matter. And not in the "pick good or bad option in dialogue"-way, but by deciding which quest is worth spending time on, which character is worth a detour and if you want to help someone by giving them an item that you yourself desperately need.I'm t tired to put my thoughts into words, but the bottom line is that if the game is for you and you give it some time, you will absolutely love it.

I don't know if this counts as indie but are there any old Epic Mafia players here? Have you found anything like that since the servers closed? I tried Town of Salem but it felt like a Facebook game in comparison. >>502633586Anon, your math. This is an absolutely terrible deal. For a 10k bet, you would sacrifice 5k for a 1/4 chance to get 15k, for a full bribe you would sacrifice 15k for a 3/4 chance to get 5k, you pay in advance so that full bribe would effectively cost you at minimum 5k no matter if the bribe is successful. Do you not see how that's terrible? Even the 1/4 chance is bad mathematically. Let's say you have a 7+8(hard 15) and the dealer has 9+8(hard 17), this is one of the worst position for you. If you try to play, you would actually lose 12.5% of your expected value on this round for a chance at keeping your streak, but as I have pointed out the dealer has a 1/6.79 chance to ruin your streak anyway by getting a natural blackjack. Bribing is bad in a fair game, in an unfair game, it's less bad because the entire game is absolutely terrible. So you go from losing a lot of money to losing a bit less money, but you're not winning either way unless you get lucky.
>>502637096It's a very buggy rune factory clone. It's okay. The dialogues are pretty bad. The character arts are pretty bad. The farming is fun. The design is questionable. The game is a buggy mess. The devs can't stop themselves from pumping $150 worth of overpriced cosmetic dlc.

what did you think of citizen sleeper?i think it was ok, i thought it was gonna be like blade runner but with you being the chased one. as it turns out you can very easily take care of that part. and as far as roleplayiing in general goes, there isnt much. all of the "quests" or storylines are fairly linear and you can experience most or all of them with a single character. there isnt much point in having classes, it barely changes anything. the writing itself was ok, the game barely puts you in any exciting situations and the ones you get into resolve themselves. there is one quest where a character gives you a ton of money to buy a shipmind with it and she says if you dont do it she will find and kill you. well i just disappeard and used the money on myself and there was never any threat from her site. i did come back many cycles later when i was a fungi farmer and making shittons of cash to buy her the shipmind. that was generally a weird kind of ending. you just end up being a fungi farmer. also you barely interact with anyone on the station other than some main characters you are suppossed to meet. so you are telling me you are doing all these day jobs for cycles on end and you dont make any friends anywhere other than some very specific few important people?tl;dr it was ok, not enough options and variety or exciting situations for a choose your own adventure kind of game. the overall plot becomes irrelevant very soon and you just end up as a regular worker.

Dunno man, the 3rd Act of Inscryption feels kinda whatever.Honestly would have preferred it if they put more time into it and released it as a sequel with the mage as the main character instead
>>502676412i enjoyed it very much. inscryption is pretty much 10/10 for me. i donjt think a second game would make much sense. the game and what it does with its secrets works really well in itself. making a sequel could very much take away from that as by that point the secret is already revealed.
>>502677079good point. I mean I don't know it ends and for most games I'm in the same boat where I prefer spiritual successors over sequels if anything.I don't know, it's just that the first two acts are absolutely solid gameplay wise and somehow the third just doesn't quite hit it for me.And I guess I would be on board with some ludo-narrative argument about how the guy is a worse story teller who doesn't actually enjoy what he's doing and so on, but that doesn't change that right now I'm in a mood where I just want to finish the game to play the mod a friend told me about that lets you play an endless mode.

>>502724465i guess, i probably went in with the wrong expectations. dont get me wrong, the game is kinda nice and i do like the atmosphere but for a game that is suppossed to be CYOA there isnt really much to choose from. you can basically do all of the tasks and meet everyone or most people on the station given enough time. by the end of the game i was proficient in almost all skills which kind of makes it pointless having to choose a specific class in the beginning.i generally think the game is just too linear. you can easily meet people who will take care of your problems and if you do keep meeting up with them then your problems will be solved rather easily. even the detectives who are suppossed to hunt you dont pose any danger at all and you barely have any room in how you handle them. the game does most of it. the main thing you are handling is going to work and going to sleep, which after a while can easily be taken care of.>>502702475>>502699871alright thanks, i will give a try some time. i dont know i never did like having to catch the flies for example.
>>502764378>noitaurgh
>>502764378how to not constantly die in noita? i tried playing it a few times and you die very easily from anything, the beginning dungeons seem rather bland also.
>>502793479Noita is a single player moba, the only winning wizard is the uninstall one.
>>502793479>how to not constantly die in noita?Don't play it.</argument>
>>502793479i'm going to level with you, I use savestates (via a program I found, to preserve "no mods" for unsolved secrets) and I don't even care. I hope it still exists after the cessation quest patch. I WILL be using it.those have been my ONLY good runs where I get the stuff to achieve infiniwhisps, the hp overflow bug thats basically normal gameplay these days (have heart guy weaken you in ambrosia then get a (50) heart(s)) and fun things.and polymorphine will STILL one shot you.oh and mod your player file so your spell inventory is 3 rows and the whole screen wide instead of bullshit, and tinker everywhere should be on by default if they ever like make a console version or something. shuffle can go fuck itself too.

>>502801228Chill out anon. You really shouldn't take things here so seriously.
>>502796903Are you the retard who's proud to be bad at the game and accuses everyone of following guides to the letter?
>>502800817I backed up my save when I did 33 orbs and the sun quest, not because of dying (and I died a couple times, always started over), but because of crashes yeah, and it did crash a couple of times so I was glad I did.
It's a bit surprising to not be the most delusional poster in this thread considering that I literally hear things. All I do when I feel bad is write it down on my mood journal and try to rest for a while.
>Noita + Binding of Isaac>Tells you what spells and items and even curse bad status effects do without needing to pull up a wiki (both games guilty of needing a wiki or mods to make it less obtuse) >Bathed in a thick layer of chink stew to keep it humble>Thus far, difficulty makes the run longer and actually adds new content instead of just being artificial padding via damage multipliers and sponge bossesGame of the fucking century lads. >>502839692
Wow, what a game.Still riding on the emotions of the ending. It was absolutely a great time, it's not a 10/10 for me like the other anon said, but boy was it fun and the ending definitely made up for a few of the parts that didn't quite hit the mark for me.I got the ending where The game is deleted, Luke sees what I presume to be the OLD_DATA and gets shot I wouldn't be surprised if between all the secrets the game has there isn't some secret ending locked away somewhere, but I'll look into it sometime later.picrel made me a little sadForgot to spoiler the image again like a silly idiot
>>502811454I never found the variety in Gunfire Reborn to be amazing or the multiplayer to be anything more than just a group of single players playing simultaneously, by that I mean there's little actual co-op, unless that has changed since.
>>502847243>>502811454Oh yeah, this is actually an invitation to be proven wrong as it kinda made me want to grab all the DLC and play it again some day.
>>502847243You get double the loot if you play multiplayer, what end up happening in the highest difficulty is that players end up giving all the scrolls for an immortal build to a single player so that when they die, the immortal player can still win for them. It's really stupid to see that happening everytime even with random players.
>>502848152I only ever played it with friends and no one was ever willing to drop their shit to superbuff someone else at the cost of their own fun.
>>502849285It's mostly because the thing you use for immortal builds are generally just bad things in general for normal builds.
when's the last time a game did something really original
>>502847243>multiplayer to be anything more than just a group of single players playing simultaneouslyIsn't that the truth for the majority of coop games? I've seen this type of complaint every now and then and it always confuses me. I understand the concept of wanting actual cooperation alright, what I can't grasp is expecting it from coop games, when the opposite has been the rule for as long as videogames existed.
>>502859246You're overthinking itLook at Deep Rock, the classes complement each other well enough for the tasks of mining and fighting and it works.Last time I played Gunfire Reborn, there weren't any support focused characters.

>>502767961Well... I tried fucking around with mods to add custom mutated zombies and make the original ones look creepier.I guess... something came out of it? Though I didn't yet fuck around with spawn rates I just wanted to see what kind of monsters the mods add.
>>502900697And here's the generic zombie retexture that doesn't have any abilities, I guess it is basically a basic bitch meme texture that would appear in a shitty modern creepypasta, but that's fine. As long as the zombies don't feel like basic bitch zombies I'm fine with it.I need to play around with spawn rates because the zombies with abilities appear too fucking often to the point where it actually feels somewhat bullshit. For anyone interested, the mod that adds zombies with abilities is Zombies of Dimension. I might also disable its retextures that don't bring any abilities to make all of the basic bitch zombies look like the creepypasta static bullshit monsters. But I'm not sure yet.
Golden Idol 2 has been kicking my butt.Been stuck on one of the last scenes for days now and really don't wanna hit that hint button. That is all.
>>502903648It finally fucking clicked! Holy shit.
>>502668089Enjoyed it well enough, even if all the missions were super linear and the writing and character quality was all over the place. Just had some good vibes, and I'm a sucker for any setting where the core is extracting what hope you can from doomed worlds. That and it took like 5 hours to get every single ending with some judicious save duplication, so didn't overstay its welcome. >>502672467It is, but it's not utterly pants on head retarded so who gives a shit. >>502787534I agree with this. It definitely lies about how freeform and adaptable the thing is. I'm hoping the sequel improves on that, otherwise they've sacrificed the strength of being in singular location to stick you in a shuttle for no real reason.
>>502877924Now launch Cogmind and feel the difference between rag-tag mix of shitty unity UI and inconsistent art direction and beatiful emulated interface and a tileset that seamlessly integrates ascii features and vice versa, with beatiful tiled animations. You can even switch between the two instantly mid-run with a press of a single button if you wish, but the tileset itself is so well designed that it does it's job just as good as pure ascii in terms of readability.Good games have thought and care put into them, and cock is not a good game

What's the best and least annoying semi-modern AssCreed in your opinion? I kinda feel like pirating one and fucking around in an open world ubisoft game for a while.I enjoyed the Desmond trilogy as a teen and Unity was surprisingly fun after it has been bug fixed and given out for free.
>>502952480I'm really fond of Black Flag, but it isn't really "semi modern". Unless you oppose it to Origins.
>>502952682Oh right I totally forgot to mention I also played Black Flag. That was fun, but I never finished it because the sandbox was the best part, while the main story missions were a drag.I actually installed that this month, but somehow it didn't quite hook me as much as it did on release.Honestly I think "semi modern" in my mind is everything past (and probably including) Unity, since that's where I stopped paying attention to the series so everything past that is a "new" game in my mind.I played Syndicate for a split second but that just felt like a worse Unity. The crowds are way smaller, the interior spaces a lot more limited and boring and even though I like jumping from boat to boat on the Thames, I was heavily disappointed by how there were seemingly no moving trains in the city, aside from your sick home base. I have no idea why they decided to make the tracks so empty, after going through the trouble of implementing jumping on and off trains from buildings and so on
>>502953335>unity>syndicate...yeah. Sorry, I'm outta my league here.
>>502955415Not a big loss on your part to be honest.Unity was quite enjoyable for me, but only thanks to taking a long ass break from the series and getting the game for free.I can't quite explain why, but it felt like a bit of a modern reboot of AC2/Brotherhood to me, maybe just because the main character is kinda similar to Ezio
>>502955630I kinda liked Brotherhood, but to be level, I never finished any of these games. The story until Desmond was interesting, and I got curious into what was going on in Black Flag, but the sandbox always outweighted the plot, so I used to play until I got sick. With Origins, I couldn't even enjoy the sandbox because of the RPG mechanisms, made me feel like I was playing Gothic.
>>502952480my interest in the series died along with desmond. istanbul was a bittersweet sendoff to ezio. i always go back to brotherhood every few years. is there anything more to life?
>>502956867>istanbulsorry i meant KONSTANTINOUPOLIS
>>502952480I never played another AC after 1 and 2Even 1 alone for all its amazing tech and animation and such was such a flawed game, but 2 cemented the idea for me that it would never be more interesting than that and sadly I was right.
>>502955847>The story until Desmond was interestingIt's funny, I seem to be the only person in the world who enjoyed the Desmond parts. I guess I just really wanted GTA with parkour and this was the closest I could get. I'm convinced I would hate those parts now.>>502956867You might find Unity interesting, if you manage to get it cheap or for free and have luck with bugs not appearing. It feels simplified over Brotherhood in many regards, but the parkour animations and the map with it's big crowds and intricate interiors is just too god damn fun to move around in>>502962887I think I preferred Brotherhood over 2 in terms of just getting lost in the open world and picking fights with guards, because there were no level transitions. Then again 2 could have much more varied level design thanks to that

>>502965457I mean, I have the impression that Desmond's story was actually an entire arc. After that, it feels disjointed, probably to facilitate the whole "only pick a game if it interests you" thing.

Fuck the government.Apparently every game sold in Germany now has to display an age restriction.I don't know all the ins and outs yet, but I can imagine this will fuck some older games since they probably won't bother to update the store pages to comply with the new rules

I just finished survivor and gourmand campaigns in rain world.Very cool game but I don't feel like playing it 6 more times for muh lore.I'll just watch a youtube video and call it quits until DLC.
>>503043323campaigns are different, gourmand is the closest one to vanilla in terms of map and exploration.at least cheat unlock saint and try him out, it's a radically different experience.
finally getting the hang of rainworld. if i think about the game less in terms of actually trying to get to the next stage and more about what i can learn while i am alive, it works a lot better. like discovering new areas and safe spaces and food locations, so i can actually make use of them instead of dying due to rain or enemies. that the enemies are moving around on their own is also pretty alluring. they do their own thing, get into fights and stuff. also realizing that not everything is out there to kill me, so if i just let them be they wont bother me.
>boss rush>Narse just victimizes me
Finished Minds Beneath Us. It was good. Real good.
>>502965457>You might find Unity interestingthat's the victorian one with the twins innit? i never did properly play it. how notorious are these bugs? any version i should look out for when i pirate it?
Random question but it's better than asking /v/; in Tears of the Kingdom anybody know a good place to farm for Prime and Gourmet meats for money? In Breath of the Wild my go-to was the big empty plain to the northeast of the Hebra mountains and kill all the wolves and whatever other creatures were there, but now the place is desolate other than a couple of Moblins and a flying three headed frost nigger.
oh wow, rain was starting at i was stuck trying to get over one last hurdle right in front of the next shelter in a new area, in one last desperate attempt i threw a spear against a wall, used that to climb over it and managed to savely jump past one pole plant and enter the shelter before the rain killed me. i really thought iwasnt gonna make it
>>503058356It's the Paris one.My first playthrough was relatively bug free, especially in contrast to the thousands of shitposts about all its bugs at launch.
