You're allowed to cancel out of moves faster and you have many more combo routes and monsters are faster so you initially think "oh so I should be playing faster and spamming attacks now right?". But in reality you'll be playing rise like any other old monster hunter and taking turns with the monster. Only their turns last longer now because they have more combos and are faster. This is what people are talking about when they mention move bloat. You have a ton of moves but realistically will only be using 1/3 of them at best unless you trap the monster or it has a special topple that lasts long. You simply don't have the time to use all your moves often in between monster attacks. Move pools should have never gotten much larger than 4th gen because there was no need for it other than as marketing. Anyway obviously you can speed up gameplay instead of playing traditionally by using your wirebug counters/super armor moves or by using traps. Obviously people will say git gud and you certainly can get better but ultimately it's going to be difficult for some weapons to punish in between the several combos all monsters have now without using silk binds. Still, difficult doesn't mean impossible. Somebody post that clip of the guy rolling through mazelno's attacks

In older games the game itself would hold you back from going to far with your attacks but in the newer games you're allowed the privilege of being able to cancel out of moves faster yourself as well as allowed to turn more during combos. It always feels so held back and reserved, when there's clearly a lot of effort involved and potential if they just went fuck it and wanted to dominate the sound design over what seems to be letting the SFX / combat / Monster Screeching do the talking.If anything, other combat-oriented games have proven you can just play absolute bangers and it doesn't distract from the experience (Doom, DMC, Souls etc).
