And after Mari dies, it would make Sunny shutting down and locking herself away more painful for Aubrey since she'd be losing someone she thought of a sister on top of her own family falling apart. And then when they finally see each other again 4 years down the line, she snaps at bunches and treats her horribly as a first re-impression despite missing her and everyone.
