Their backstories are entirely separate and also have to be able to fit in a single canto, in which they're not even the star of the show, so more like 50% of a canto.Dante is not a character and will never be a character, he's the faceless helpless gacha self insert.Limbus company is even more nebulous than the vagueposters. None of the sinners give a shit about the boughs. And there is no supporting cast. At best they disappear up limbus forever, most of the time they die in less than two canto parts. In lobcorp you wanted to know how things came to be, it was your first contact with the City and a Wing, and all the sephirah, angela, and (You) were part of the same story. And because it was a pain in the ass to get agents through without meltdown bonuses & get gifts, you even got attached to literally random generics you dressed up. In Ruina roland & angela's duality serve as the core, but even more than that, the library and invitation & how it drew the guests unified the story as you got to see resignations, hope, madness, resolution, prescripts and sweepers and how they reacted to the situation. In limbus when dante is in danger faust flats out just tell you to kys lmao, who cares. All the sinners have to be available for gameplay so they'll always be available, there's zero risk, and nobody cares about any overarching plot because there isn't any. Vagueposters? Herman? Dante?
