Finally finished Schacklulu's chapter. I want her even more now, her VA acted her heart out. Iria bad end makes no sense. Dantalion accomplishes everything he set out to do, Iria's survival is ensured, The Union is in disarray due to the corruption of the Council being exposed and won't bother Iria for the immediate future, nobody trusts the Papal States because them working with Darklight/corrupt Irian novles was exposed and the Elaman don't threaten Iria and simply want to continue trading. Perfect opportunity for Dantalion to shift to governing now? Nope, I'm going to stage some elaborate plot where I kill my father, disgrace the royal family's name and then this will somehow transition Iria to a democracy???Makes absolutely no sense and is entirely anachronistic for the time period the game is set. We also know from Taair's FJ chapter that after Faris and his men successfully defeated the Papal States the people themselves were happy to "elect" Faris king. Which makes sense, there's never been any kind of democracy in Iria, they were ruled by the Witengamot, the Papal States through a puppet king and now Faris/Dantalion. How would they know anything about how to run a democracy? The logical thing that would happen after Dantalions death is that the remaining nobles would fill the power vacuum and shift to an oligarchy because their the only ones with resources and a shared interest (maintaining their power).
