Frankly the vast majority of my losses now are due to supports not knowing when is optimal to initiate fights (since it isn’t typically their job) due to ADC power spikes. I’ve had Lulu’s try to pick a fight at level 2 against a MF/Leona lane and then get shocked a Jinx with only a Doran’s doesn’t do damage.But as others said the problem really comes down to items. ADC’s simply have shit items with very little range of viability. In the past you had items to benefit crit, attack speed, lethality, damage against armor, high health and utility items to help stop burst, increase movement speed further, etc. While these items still technically exist, they’ve been drastically nerfed losing their unique passives while retaining high gold costs. So not only are your builds extremely generic/universal, you’re stuck putting more effort in just to afford them.I’ve read a lot about how this significant power reduction is due to pro play abusing ADC and I believe that is true to an extent. It’s unfortunate that 300~ players in the world dictate an entire role for millions, but that is where Riot wants to put their focus. If even a moderately strong ADC role in ranked for regular people causes pro matches to end faster, Riot would no doubt want that longer, advertiser-friendly game to play out. It simply is what it is currently.

>>508004854Assuming you're not baiting, it's because of damage distribution and the length/safety of the lane. Mid is very hard to gank so it's better for more vulnerable champs. Also most adc, top, and jungle champs are ad so you generally want an AP champ mid where they fit well anyway. Top is a long lane which means it's easier to gank and chase down which means it's best to have champs who are tougher to kill in ganks and have some form of sustained damage incase they get chased down the lane, ad champs and tanks are generally better for that.That's the simple version. It goes deeper once you start factoring in draft and onetricks.
