Switch 2 emulators. WHAT are we doing about it?!?!?

Wait for a smart, fat, gender dysphoric person to do make one and wait a few years for it to be usable. Same as it always was.

Say 'Thank You' for them import tariffs and play shit we ain’t touched yet for Switch 1 on Yuzu or Ryujinx. What else we got?

Yes. Gyro/SixAxis is great.

>>520550062
then like you said, it's a Saturday, you have time. Get crackin'. I believe in you. Also, you make profiles that can be swapped between via touchpad. You can have Xinput for RA, DS4 for everything else, any combination of things you want per profile with its own LED color. You can even set DS4W to activate profiles when it detects apps running. I still don't know why it's not working in RA in Dinput/DS4 mode though. Maybe you have an API disabled in RA? Maybe you need to update the controller profiles, or RA itself? It's okay, it's me, your computer boyfriend here to help.

Perhaps at least one of these hints can help you. RA is responsive with DS4 being detected via DS4W DS4 emulation this way for me.

Using a DS4 rawdog is just as easy, as I said, it's all the key/touch/gyro/deadzone customization that makes the app worth using. Never said it was complicated, it's just weeks of re-inventing the wheel for yourself that I'd rather not deal with, and there are fringe functionality gaps.

>>
>>520562252
Are you looking for something with an digital click or detent between an 80% and 100% press like the GC or just anything with analog L/R?
>>
Yknow, I bet if you're autistic enough you could set DS5 haptics to do the GC trigger thing.
>>
>>520562846
Mostly looking for an easy, wireless replacement for GC controllers that maintain most / all of the analog trigger functionality for GC games.
>>
The one faint silver lining of Switch 2 is standardized analog triggers in Nintendoland again. So I suppose one could buy an S2 Pro and have a decent experience.
>>
>>520563463
I just use DS4/5 with DS4Win over Bluetooth. Setup sucks if you have a calcified pineal gland, but it works great and for just about every purpose if you think you're even somewhat decent with computers. Of course there's just an Xbox Series controller that'll probably work well enough, but they lack gyro and that kinda sucks.
>>
>>520563465
Wrong general. Look through the homebrew general’s OP post. Hacking the original Switch is pretty easy if you read the instructions there. The only issue I’ve experienced has stemmed from unreliable SD cards (I think).
>>
Avoid WiiU and Switch Pro controllers. No analog. Decent otherwise, but pretty big drawback there.
>>
I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to put some sort of proprietary WiiU Gamepad style wireless tech to keep all S2 controllers on their console. It would be stupid as people buy console controllers for PC all the time, but Nintendo would do it for the love of the game. I imagine it'll be BT per usual though. Just would be funny in a way.
>>
Also wonder if S2 will cockblock all 3rd party controllers out of their machine unlike S1. I know I'm wildly speculating but considering things lately I just believe they exist to hate like A.M.
>>

>>520565938
>that one guy soifacing over the GC reveal
I wonder what prevents one from making the tiniest leaps in research to get this set up on their PC. That's all PC operation is; research. You're not even really doing anything. There's hardly anything to fuck up like an actual trade. It's the laziest technical discipline there is. How is the ability to pay for something that's been emulated well for at least 15 years considered a privilege to these people?
>>
>>520566347
don't care, didn't ask, eat shit.
>>
>>520565938
I’m interested in that controller, for sure. If it has the full functionality of the original controller, it’s likely the best solution for my needs.
>>520566347
People are not very bright. Kids at least get an excuse for not knowing better. It’s wild to me that GameCube games were held hostage for as long as they have been, and you just know it was done purposely to leverage that artificial scarcity (to push subscriptions, remakes, etc.). Saddest part is that I would gladly pay a small fee for digital copies, assuming they ran well and didn’t require an online connection / subscription to play. But that was deemed less profitable than exploiting the ignorant masses (it probably is).

My brother in law is an IT specialist and knows plenty about computers, but per my sister, he refuses to pirate anything because he's afraid of fucking up his $3000+ gaymen rig by downloading shit from shady sites or whatever. He wouldn't even let her download Dolphin on his PC so she could have a romp through Animal Crossing like in the good old days, so she had to resort to her shitty Ivy Bridge Core i3 laptop.

He also unironically collects Funko Pops.

Why the fuck doesn't turning deinterlacing off in PCSX2 actually turn off the deinterlacer instead of just forcing it to only display half the lines progressively? If it actuially just spit out the same output as a PS2 you could use better deinterlacers than the shit they bundle and make it look half decent. I fucking hate this emulator so much it's unreal.

The Dolphin RA core hasn't been seriously worked on in years now. There's a chance they'll eventually go back to it, as they recently did so with PCSX2 with more or less good results, but it could be another year or two before they do.

CRT-guest-advanced-ntsc for PS1, just because it makes such heavy use of dithering. The games look a lot better with a CRT+composite filter, much like Genesis. N64 already has a de-dither filter, texture filtering, and 4xMSAA by default on real hardware so it fares a lot better when upscaling.

It blends together the same amount of dithering as is blended together on real hardware through composite video. Getting rid of all of it is impossible unless you smear the entire screen with some "lookin good" texture filter or some shit, and this recreates how they actually look on a CRT. I would know because I used my own CRT as the target to tweak the shader to. Check pic related, there's much more dithering visible.

L/D on the dpad and U/R on B/A or picrel. This was actually my first DDR game way back, before pads and arcade machines were common in the USA. Got me curious enough to play the real versions and a ton of other bemani games later.
>>
>>
>>520730023
This will obviously reveal my age, but I'm far too used to those home pads/mats that acted like a controller. It's pretty cool there was a dedicated overlay for the GBC version of DDR.
>>
>>520730216
I'm sure I'm just as old or older. I emulated this game back in the early days of GBC emulation and was a teen then. In the shitkickin parts of the country pads and DDR weren't really a thing til the mid 2000s, and the only thing before it was shit like the power pad.

Filtered textures just looks trashy in PS1 emus; you see blocking and seams and it looks way worse than nearest-neighbor. That's why I didn't use it here. If an emu could pull this off I'd consider, but as is, no.

PCSX2 devs didn't add FSR, that was Parallel-GS. In fact, they have refused to add it precisely because it looked like shit, instead they just have CAS as an optional setting. P-GS is a fork, its not part of PCSX2.

It goes like that sometimes, you have to fiddle with brightness, contrast, and color parameters to get CRT shaders to retain brightness properly. It's a hassle. That said your settings before fit MGS.

of course there's a ton of artistic subjectivity on how a CRT's supposed to blow out colors and crush blacks so... it's really kinda whatever there. Most shaders have default settings that fuck with the color.

Only played 1DE and XDE and it's been pretty good, 1DE was really good especially with mod and higher res on Ryujinx, it's a bit stuttery though, it's strangely better when clearing the shader cache regularly.

XDE on Citron has vertex explosion issues sadly but otherwise runs even better, perhaps stick to ryujinx for that one if stuttering doesn't bothers you. Not like Citron is all that much smoother because one way to prevent vertex explosions a bit is to disable shader caching.

DOSbox doesn't really have a system clock speed in the conventional sense, like 33mhz or 66mhz or whatever. It has its own arbitrary 'cycles'. DOSbox-X and DOSbox Pure (recommend you use one of these, Pure if you're sharts-pilled) have presets for cycles that approximate certain targets like 286, 386, 486, Pentium etc. You can manually set cycles too, though.

I'm asking for retro achievements for the mega man x trilogy, does the retro arch port of snes9x pass the Yoshi's island test?

See on bsnes there's no issues but on Mesen for the stage select and stage select only there's laggy and chippy audio though the game itself runs fine its weird.

And if y'all know some solutions id like some help for these issues as well, tokimeki memorials fan translation doesn't run it's just a black screen and the English rom of assaults suits valken stops and resets to the title screen every time I mean the part where the ship crashes into the enemy base and the mech sort of gets launched out of the ship.

Retro Achievements was the main motivation for me damn near mastering metal slug x not really using any "credits" up until the end of mission 4 and the entirety of mission 5 god only knows just how frustrating it is to go deathless in mission 3.

I also think video game preservation and accessibility is very important and the current state of it is disgusting. Corpo scum deciding what you should and shouldn't have access to based on how much money they can make, unpaid shoe polishers that think emulation is "stealing" from their favorite conglomerate, scam artists selling old games for a 1000% markup. Emulation cuts through all of this scum and so the idea of half assing it is personally offensive to me because I think it's an invaluable tool.

>What games can you truly consider unplayable for PS1?
None of them support the PS1 based arcade boards for one thing. If we're talking about duckstation every lightgun game in unplayable because the aiming is fucked, Otona No Asobi doesn't boot, Hyper Tennis Final Match runs at about 3 FPS. I don't think any of the unlicensed Datel games work. Next Tetris (Europe) still crashes. Tai Fu (Europe) crashes on level 5. Chris Kamara's Street Soccer is "playable" but randomly crashes on the loading screen before a match. Shockwave Assault (USA) has broken audio, cutscenes and level 2 doesn't load. That's off the top of my head and I'm sure somewhere in that endless ocean of games there's more I haven't found.

>>520927276
I remember testing it when you were talking about the lightgun shit way back and it seemed to work for me. Dunno what that's about. DPI shit maybe? Okay but do they work in Beetle? I know Tennis works right when you set it to NTSC timing or use Beetle. Seems like Duckstation has a bit of a PAL problem overall. I was wondering what you can't get running properly in any of the emus we have. I don't know why you don't consider Duckstation a lost cause outside of trolling/seething against Stenzek.
>>
>>520927465
People shouldn't have to shop around for half a dozen emulators just to find one that works. There's no reason any of those games can't be fixed besides laziness and or autistic retardation.
>>
Also I don't know if this is a bug but Prism Land Story (Europe) instantly pauses itself when you start battle mode and keeps re-pausing constantly. I don't know if it's meant for two player and it's expecting a second controller.
>>
>>520927754
There's two. It will likely run in one or the other, or it's probably not worth playing. Would be nice if one or the other fixed their issues though.
>>
>>520928062
> it's probably not worth playing.
That isn't for emudildos to decide. They aren't the arbiters of quality. The point of an emulator is to make games playable, Everything should work and the user can decide what they want to play. Otherwise it's just another dogshit switch online service where the top 1% of games get saved and everything else is left to rot.
>>
>>520928384
I know it isn't. I'm just saying between those two PS1 emulation is in great shape. It would be better if they were receptive and active on fixing shit though, as you said. Having two 95% there emus that share the last 5% has been always been a thing in emulation, til perhaps BSNES which had an issue posted just recently. That's just the relying on freetards to reverse engineer shit life.
>>
>>520867520
I thought he was talking about the making of the emulator itself.
>>
>>520928939
It's not even 5%. There's maybe 10 games left in duck that are completely broken, and 15 or so more with graphical and audio bugs. It would take very little time and effort to get it over the line of 100% compatibility. Mednafen Beetle is a crapshoot. I've found tons of bugs just from casual use and it updates once every 3 years.

yiff in hell. What does it have going for it? It's only pretty because it's hyper linear with an iron grip on the camera, so they can optimize to a mirror sheen. They made Sonic Adventure levels just functional enough that Sonic stays on the rails most of the time. Then it's a terrible beatemup for the other half or more of the game. It's just another SA game which was always middling. Meanwhile (for better or worse) Nuts & Bolts was way ahead of its time with its vehicle customization, has an engine that renders large open worlds with lots of actors well, and has decent air, water, and road physics.

He's conflating Stenzek with another dude called Matthew LaFrance who supposedly does all of those things. There's no evidence they're the same person. It's a schizo theory some of us humored only because this Matthew guy kinda looks like the dude from Comix Zone (or the dude from the anime Eat-Man) in a few pictures, and the idea of Stenzek looking like that was too funny not to meme, but there's no actual evidence.

If you want the blur of composite (whether it's to soften the image or to blend dithering), it's possible to have it minus the artifacts. I don't know why people seem hellbent on keeping every ugly aspect of composite output that just shits up the picture.

This shader does that, removes as many undesirable artifacts (rainbow/aberration, colors being fucked with yugely, too much bleeding or color robbed by nearby pixels, crawl, weird mesh patterns) and keeps a mask, scanlines, composite blur, mild bloom. Dolphin *should* be okay and without stutters at 16:9 using PrimeHack. I guess one has to weigh textures and poly count over the original lighting and reflections. I don't want to bag on Remaster too much. It's decent but it's just law that something's fucked up. It's like anyone on a remastering job wants to leave a little something exclusive to the original, as a form of respect almost. I'm sure it's just laziness or lack of attention to details, though.

Friendly reminder that no matter what the resolution of the game you're resulating is, it should always be displayed in a 4:3 aspect ratio, because it was always intended to fill the physical area of a CRT screen, which was always 4:3 (or 3:4 if it's a tate arcade game). The pixel aspect ratio of the game's internal resolution is irrelevant.

It's fascinating that this game was made on at least three different engines at this point.
>>
>>521116101
Nah. Some devs just sucked at their jobs and it looks like astigmatism with the stretched out squares and circles. Usually you're right, but sometimes it just looks like shit. They had a hard job because despite every goddamn screen being 4:3, the standard display modes on each machine were rarely so. Sometimes Genesis games were converted to SNES like shit, and vice versa, and you have to correct it for them. Sorry aspie, it's relative to the game.
>>
>>521116101
Some retarded devs didn't consider that the real hardware wouldn't output a 4:3 resolution, so shit could end up stretched compared to key art, that's where the whole autism begins. At this point I just don't give a fuck and simply use a CRT shader.
>>
>>521121243
The issue with that logic is that you're moving from an absolute objective metric (the physical measurements of the display) to a subjective metric (your own judgment as to whether or not the devs made the game correctly). Even if you are correct and are fixing the devs' mistakes, it still objectively does not look like it did on real hardware. Your target is either accuracy to the game as originally displayed, or accuracy to the art assets, and the latter is a mixed bag full of contradictions (many games have assets that look correct at 4:3 next to others that look incorrect at that same ratio).

How frequent are the crashes? If it crashes every 10min I could test it real quick on my end, even if I'm nowhere close to 3, I'm still trying to finish 1 and X. But it would sucks if I get to 3 and then also find out it's crashing and is unplayable so I think I'll try it right now and find out.
Someone here was playing it on Ryu just fine a while ago so that's weird anyway. If your drivers are new it's possible that nvidia is fucking up, try downgrading the drivers slightly, to a version that predate the new RTX cards.
>>
>>521204276
He talked about the game crashing because of async shader compilation, which doesn't exist in Ryujinx (As many have bitched about this), so maybe it's actually just a Yuzu problem...
>>
>>521208596
It crashes everywhere, even on ryujinx. Async turned on or off. Read the post properly.
>>521204276
The cutscenes it crashes are usually the ones where the group meets for the first time and fights moebius. Some kind of effects seem to crash the emulator. The other cutscene that almost always crashes the emulator is in chapter 2 right before the fight with moebius when you slice that Soul Clock in half. The cutscene is quite long and two transformations happen (prone to crashing for some reason) as well as a lot of particle effects (prone to crashing). This is again, with or without async shader comp. And the funny thing is that i get huge shader stutters each time in every cutscene. It stutters, freezes up to chapter 3 and they never stop. Xenoblade X, DE, 2 all work flawlessly and without crashes. Its just 3 that has these issues.
>>
>>521210071(me)
>And the funny thing is that i get huge shader stutters each time in every cutscene
With async turned off, mind you. That was a trade-off in the past so the game wouldnt crash atleast, but that is not possible anymore either. I checked all over the web for a fix and for some reason i am the only one to have these issues because even in the gbatemp forum nobody really reports any crashes.
>>
>>521210470
Did you try downgrade your drivers ?
>>
>>521210071
Except there is no async to turn on or off in Ryujinx, only a shader cache, so maybe it's your talking about.
>>
>>521211267
I wouldnt know up to when. Downgrading drivers would be my last resort and even then i wouldnt really want to do it. Also, its been years since i played XB3 on yuzu and without crashes, so i wouldnt know how far i would have to roll them back. Getting an old yuzu build would also be suboptimal because those builds all never had the particle fix for XB3 in them and did not properly show red, blue, yellow soul particles.
>>521211458
I never said there is async options on ryujinx. you said my problem was async and that is not true. it crashes everywhere. async turned on or off. on ryujinx or not.
>>
>>521212330
I don't have the time or disk space to load XB3 to see what's going on on my side. So, try to downgrade your drive to 561.09 (Before Nvidia fuck up) and then, if it's still doesn't work, then, it will be between emulation bug and your hardware dying.

In all seriousness, almost everytime I forced myself to "git gud" and beat the game, I only ended up feeling spent up and melancholic, as if I wasted my time. These days, I'd rather let my enjoyment dictate if I'm going to invest effort on the game. If I only have fun on easy mode, so be it. If I feel like tackling a harder game or difficulty setting, then that'll be the order of the day. There's already too many reasons to feel miserable, I don't want video games to be another one.

Okay, sperg time. See: https://github.com/flyinghead/flycast/commit/786ccf41398c5f4c533e5c1bf496050adf05fbd5

I've brought this issue to flyinghead personally around a year ago. In a matter of *seconds*, he told me there's no way the problem is within flycast, and it was probably on RetroArch (even though no other core did that) or my AMD card. Others even formalized the issue in his Github (a couple of times, I think), and he was as dismissive as ever. Then, finally, another programmer created another issue highlighting the technical details causing the problem. Not having where to run, flyinghead at last fixed what was "supposedly" not a flycast problem.

Wtf happens with devs like that? I can fully comprehend a "won't fix" stance, as some problems do require a lot of time and effort, but a "won't look" is completely lazy and asinine, especially when all you do is shift blame. Look, RetroArch has devs that you need to tread on eggshells all the time, let's take barbudreadmon as an example. It's tough to deal with the guy, but it's undeniable that he fully cares about his project and thinks and ponders about issues presented. Some he fixes, some he doesn't, although all of them are given proper reasoning (whether you agree with it or not). That's fine and I respect him for that. On the other hand, if you're the kind of dev who gives no shit about issues, just disable them in your GitHub. It saves everyone's time.

XB3 crash anon here again. First time the notorious cutscene went by flawlessly with proper mods installed and all. 2k Textures, shadows, LOD all things. The issue, it seems, was too little allocated virtual RAM for windows to use. I just increased it by double and no more crashes, even with async enabled. Went through the kino cutscene with no issues. Taskmanager for some reason never showed the game eating all that much vram so i never suspected anything but this seemes to have fixed the issue. Ill test some more cutscenes but i am very positive that this was the problem.

To be fair, Retroarch is janktastic on any of the hardware accelerated/HLE cores. It's due to it being a hardware instance under a hardware instance. It's weird, and also why all of they're missing runahead and rewind among other things. As much as I love Retroarch it's probably frustrating and tiring as fuck to maintain both your own standalone and a parallel thing that is also beholden to Retroarch's quirks, and I don't blame him to jumping to the conclusion. Why should he look? Why didn't you make an issue under the core's tracker? If you wanted flyinghead to take it seriously, you should have tested it in the standalone, made sure it happened in there, and reported it without mentioning Retroarch at all. Again. No one knows how to talk to people.
>>
>>521278675
This. Don't report core issues on the main tracker, every dev hates that, simply test on standalone first. Whatever happens inside RetroShart is not their fucking problem.
>>
>>520689686

>>
>>521278675
>No one knows how to talk to people
Neither do you, it seems. Did you read that the issue was related to a specific feature of RetroArch? Probably not. Then, how should I test with the standalone, that does not have the feature? flyinghead was so dismissive to me that I didn't even feel like posting an issue on GitHub. It was the right call, since others did and were also answered "won't look". Thankfully, some programmer actually shoved into his face that the error was indeed in his core, not in RetroArch.

Also, is RetroArch a cluster of fuck? Absolutely. That's why I mentioned having nothing against "won't fix", it's too annoying. Now, pretending it's not your fault and shifting blame is just being an asshole.

>>521279114
See above for why I didn't test in standalone.
>main tracker
I'd love to post on the "right place", except it does not exist. Unlike many libretro cores, there's not a dedicated tracker to RetroArch. Don't believe me? Just go to the official documentation (https://docs.libretro.com/library/flycast/) and see where they do suggest reporting issues. I'm not sperging because I like it, it's just something that really annoyed me.
>>
>>521279974
Well, now link both issues, yours and the one that solved it on the issue you opened on retroarch and tell him the retroarch website itself links to his tracker, so he can learn from his mistakes.
>b-but you'll see my username
we already know
>>
>>521279974
Unless he was responsible for maintaining the core it wasn't his problem whatsoever. That it was a feature specific to the core and Retroarch doesn't help your case. I also bet, before there was a fast forward feature, you could uncap the framerate/speed in standalone Flycast back then. Maybe that would have been a way to prove it. You could even nigger-rig a toggle by uncapping the emulator and setting a cap hotkey in RTSS.
>>521279974
https://github.com/libretro/flycast, or it could have been reported under Retroarch in general.

Was it incidentally a problem in the standalone? Maybe, somehow I bet it's a different issue in RA altogether. Ablooing about a fork is never gonna fucking go anywhere, though.

I didn't post an issue. I was on Discord (sorry, but I won't out myself, and I'll lay low for a while), and asked if he wanted to see the log and if I should open an issue. Why did I ask? Because each dev is a pandora box, and some hate when you go and open issues out of nowhere, so, as usual, I was polite and walked on eggshells. Anyway, in a matter of seconds he dismissed everything and blamed it either on RetroArch or the RX570 I used, didn't even need the log. I just thought "okay", but I wasn't the only one complaining there. I also follow his GitHub and more people opened related issues, to which he replied the same way as he did to me.

>>521282959
Again, to make matters clear: I reported to flyinghead, but NOT on GitHub. However, I feel necessary to point that the matter about the "right place" is confusing. The link you posted says
>"Flycast is a multiplatform Sega Dreamcast emulator. NOTE: No longer actively developed, use upstream repo for libretro from now on - https://github.com/flyinghead/flycast"
Just like the official documentation. I'm not a programmer, but I'm not new to emulation either. I know about upstream hating when you report downstream issues. But we're digressing. That should be told to whoever opens issues there.

---

Well, I don't want to drag my sperging anymore. I only came to emugen because:
1. Several libretro figures lurk here, so I'm definitely not screaming into the void.
2. I can speak frankly without being banned on Discord or blocked on GitHub or whatever.
I just want to convey this final message, then I won't bother anyone else here:

flyinghead, you're entitled to do whatever you want with your project. You can ignore reports or refuse to go further into any issue, I see no problem with that. However, if you do respond, be honest and humble, do not dismiss logs and do not make uneducated guesses about what the problem is, especially if you're shifting blame without even looking into the problem.

>vulkan: fix crash when fast-forwarding with libretro core
I'm running Linux on an AMD Mini PC and I have the same issue with Mupen64Plus-Next core with Vulkan, it crashes when fast-forwarding, OpenGL works fine. I don't know how to fix this shit.
>>
Titan AE looks good upscaled though. Soundtrack is good too. I think the reason a lot of nintendo fans grew up to be socially inept malcontents with 30 genders is because of their miserable n64 childhood. Playing Tarzan without the soundtrack.
>>
>>521285650
I'm polite, but not enough to close an issue without a little back-and-forth. Keep fishing if you want, but I won't disclose unneeded info about myself. Are you a mod or something? Or just want to rat me out? For what reason? I'll pay double attention to whatever personal info I reveal here if I need to deal with people like you.
>>521288080
Sorry, but I tested here and also had the same result. Seems like I can't reveal any info here, but all I can say is that it happens on another OS besides Linux. By the way, seems like I need to make amends about flycast, as it's not the only core showing problems with fastforward.
>>
>>521286756
Nvidia control panel->Put Duckstation on the discrete GPU. There's is a bug where Duckstation run on the IGPU even if it's GUI said otherwise. If the problem persiste after that, downgrade les Drivers to 561.09. If it's persist, go on their Discord to get banned.
If you're on AMD, try the same thing.
>>
>>521289985
chill bro, I'm not stalking you, just wanted to see what the dev had to say
>>
>>521291095
I apologize for overreacting, but I don't feel like being exposed. Again, I'm not a pro, but I've been here before, I know what happens here, that's why I sperged about flyinghead. Just to reach libretro devs without compromising my Discord account. It feels awful walking on eggshells and being unsure if you can open an issue, even if you follow the guidelines. FWIW, I already opened many issues on RetroArch's main tracker and it was all smooth sail, same with its core's trackers. The problem is when you need to go upstream, that's why I always ask for "permission" (argh) on Discord before opening any issue outside RetroArch. I add that PCSX2 (upstream) is another hellhole.
>>
>>521292027
>PCSX2 (upstream) is another hellhole.
I just info dump bugs on their Discord and disappear. If they want to investigate or another user wants to replicate and report on their issue tracker: great. PCSX2 devs are unstable and toxic far too often to bother submitting proper reports.
>>
>>521293412
Unfortunately, that seems to be the name of the game. I do something similar, as noted before. The difference is that I open the issue myself, if the dev is not against it. Fortunately, I don't need to do that for RetroArch, so I just post the issue directly. Why isn't every place like that? You, as the dev, create a clear and visible guidelines, then the user follows it. Simple as, no drama afterward.

Hey, he's brave enough to name and face-fag with all that. I'm just gathering the tip of the iceberg from you.
>>
>>521344698
Perhaps it's a dipswitch or internal setting. Many games had an option called "attract sound" or "demo sound", look for that.
>>
>>521298472
Is it because you're using PAR/DAR without any forced 4:3 ratio? Maybe a setting like that would fix it. Reminds of Silent Hill's title screen when you don't set that.

>>521352476
That does clear it up a lot. You can create a vgtranslate account, set up ztranslate to point to it and run a local server, then turn on Retroarch AI translation with a translation hotkey. There's a guide for it I used but I can't be assed. It can be janky and you have to measure your expectations with OCR translation, but I've limped through things with it.
Otherwise there's MORT:
https://github.com/killkimno/MORT
This takes a portion of the screen (or all of it) and translates it in realtime using Google or DeepL so long as you have the Japanese language installed (doesn't have to be active) in Windows. Again, expectations, but they're helpful in a pinch.
>>
>>521315394
tangent. But I wish there was a command line tool like chdman but for making m3u files automatically

I'm just gonna save the Dabido the trouble before chimes in to criticize machine translation: you can also just learn Japanese, lolol.

Weird, indeed. I found this video in which things work fine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-OkTPek2uM
MAME is kind of confusing with all its different rom versions. To be sure, you could test on another emulator (like FBNeo) or MAME version or fork.

yet another anon setting up the Xeno games here:
Does XC2 have some sort of 720p locked presentation surface? I used the commented 2.0.2 default lib_nx.ini from the GBAtemp thread and only changed picrel values and set citron to 2x rendering resolution (and OpenGL because Vulkan has messed up lighting) but the game with nearest window adapting filter still is pixelated as if outputting 720p. The AtMax settings don't do anything, I already tried. Disabling the three boolean values controlling AA only makes it look worse while still retaining the 720p output grid.

>>521262880
Is that just for XC3 or do any of the other games have missing effects on normal?
>>
>>521279825
My point is that you can get handhelds that do more than enough for less than half the price of a deck.
>>
>>521353345
I've done this once too, I probably need to bake my own PCSX2 PGS at some point but... egh... honestly it's the libraries, compilers, and bloat I have to install as opposed to the process. You'd think there'd be better ways to do this on the web now... or are there?
>>
>>521314669
Could you, yknow, find hdm versions? I know the P68K core has dim issues but I was able to find HDMs elsewhere. It's probably the closest you can get to 'comfy' x68k emulation experience. As for MAME, you need the BIOS files where MAME wants them, then you launch into system without anything loaded, then hit scroll lock to enable MAME system keys (disable by default so they don't conflict with the guest machine keyboard) , then hit tab, then go to File Manager and load whatever disk or hdd files you have, then reset the machine from the menu or F3. The nip emulators work fine of course but they are reek of 2003 and have terrible scaling and generally feel like all old Jap emulators do.
>>
>>521296973
If you're gonna go the MAME route you probably wanna use software list ROMs to make life a little easier:
