Since I've been having fun doing this lately I decided to look into some of the other Part 1 and 2 girls a bit more, and I think I found two reasons why the specialist focused traits ended up the way they did.The first is that some of the T5 races have little connection back to even their T4 counterparts, lacking skill equivalents they used to have and instead replacing staple categories with entirely new ones. Considering the troubled development of the third route, this probably happened because some of the final races were created around a specific design or girl and made to "fit" them, rather than him making each final race first.The second reason is that it turned out trtr actually DID try to go back to a lot of the older girls and update their traits but either messed up who got what, simply forgot some of them or just added the wrong skill entirely.As an example: Rachnee, Rachura, and Ashidaka's specialist trait is supposed to give them a 30% damage boost and 50% SP reduction on Web-Based Skills, but during testing I discovered they didn't actually get this on the final Web skill (a T4 skill). When I went to check why it turned out trtr had intended to give it to them but left in a typo, which caused their traits to not apply to "Divine Spider's Earth-Covering Web" but instead "Divine Herbal Tea". All because he put in a 5 instead of a 6.A lot of girls who had similar traits appear to have their trait lines copy/pasted as well, which does make logical sense in order to save time.But it also means that if trtr forgot to include it for one girl, he forgot it for ALL of them. Hence why both the Jellyfish and Sea Anemone lack the final stinging tentacle skill.I'm very grateful that Harpies seem to have none of these issues; given the huge scope of the game I really wonder how many times he accidentally messed up a trait like this.

That's "Dimensional Erosion Slime" from the fucking D.I., not even listed in her actor skills or callouts and she doesn't boost the plant skills that are associated with dissolving either. To get her to benefit from this you'd need to monkey-chain her race from Plant->Sea Dweller->Chimera->Land Dweller, just for this one attack.Given the evidence that T5 Jobs/Races weren't initially planned this is likely where a huge part of the screwup stems from as while all of them have T4 skills the errors commonly continue to lie in T5, so when he had to go back and copy/paste them while already struggling to make said races he just started making mistakes with some of them, and since he had no one to double check for him they were never found.

You want to create a system that saves you from giving every single charcter an explicit list of every single skill affected by every single trait, because that is a massive pain in the ass to do. RPGMaker is on the simler side, designed for a few characters that have simple skill lists. While thinking of the Insect Girls (while the Harpies are uncontestably my eternal favorites I've always found the Insect Race to be fun to use in battle) I decided to go digging for their skills out of curiosity.Almost all of the final skills are firmly in the 9600~ area, except for a couple of them: Apocalypse Whip and Funeral March of Death Flies.However, there's another skill in here I'd forgotten about; Erotic Flies of Purgatory. No other insect skills in the game reference flies, even the ones that summon swarms (which have no final equivalent, alongside stingers/scales/honey/web/etc). Furthermore, no Insect Race teaches EFoP. This is because, rather appropriately, it's a skill exclusive to the Beelzebubs: only Barbarella and her Sisters have this (not even their daughter).I also decided to check Baal Zebub's properties again and compared them to Abaddon, and found something noteworthy.BZ originates from 2014, while Abaddon comes from 2016. However, unlike other Calamities BZ's H-Scene was actually completed all the way back in 2019, around the time FoC/Deus Ex/Route-Centric things were being developed, while Abaddon had her scene completed in 2022. And yet in 2024 BZ had another cg for her added (a cut-in). Abaddon also has some physical similarities to Hive Mind, who was made around the time of her H-Scene.It's impossible to be 100% conclusive, but I think Abaddon was originally meant to have been in BZ's spot as the "final" Insect Race/Calamity once that direction was chosen for the story. AW and FMoDF might have been intended to be exclusive skills for them respectively, being made well before the final insect race skills.As for why Abaddon would be replaced to begin with, it's probably because her artist (Xelvy) vanished mid-development of Part 3.Trtr was already repurposing assets, so since BZ had been finished for years, he went with what was completed, and Abaddon was eventually repurposed to just be an enemy encounter in the final dungeon.

I can only imagine this thing became a massive pain in the ass to work with; trying to check individual girls to see if they have problems is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Although, if such was the case those 'Locusts' would've also probably been intended for Xelvy, which he'd never be able to do since he vanished.It's fun to think about what might've happened in earlier versions; at the very least I do genuinely like the final form of the Hive Mind and Baal Zebub, so it still turned out ok for her in the end.It took me long enough to catch a screenshot of her whips at full length that Doppel actually wandered up to us when we finally were able to get the right frame.I guess she was curious what we were doing.

But he needed something that fit the bill of "Lamia World-Ender" while already hard pressed for time and behind with a lot of artists. Reporting InOperation Insect-Aid is a goI've successfully found and updated all six Thread Specialist Girls to have the correct skill IDAt the same time, I've decided to test a couple of other things out as well; since some Specialist Girls lack final skill equivalents I've decided to try and see if I'd also be able to add a skill instead of just changing one. The Stinging Tentacle Girls will require this to work to be able to fix them but since Honey has been such a great help in all this (also I like her a lot anyway) I've decided that she will be our test girl to try this out with first, since she has no final Stinger Skill normally. So instead she'll make the Gestalt Sickle dual-purpose as either a claw or stinger attack.I also added her cut-in to it as well, since it'd be fun for her to have it. I added it to Honey's special Sorcery Skill as well, since I gave Reina her cut-in on Harpy Kick. If it works, Honey will be the first girl who lacked a final trait skill to benefit from gaining one at last.i also came up with a funnier idea than what I did to Koron, but i'll cross that bridge when the patching is finished

I farm Pandoras and Jar Purple Girl at Mimic Island with triple job ability, job max focus ability and triple exp from singing skill, that gives me about 15k job exp per Pandora/12k job exp per Jar Girl. They'd probably only struggle with skills that ignore defense but, well, the autoguard would still exist.Having racial deflectors and x3 skill activation is pretty solid too. But some of the other insect skills would reasonably fit them.For example, the "gleaming whip" skills are probably done by using hardened silk to made a whip, so I could add the two Whip skills to the traits of the Thread Girls. This gives them a skill for each category of power (they are missing both a SS and Z+ level skill), which would allow their traits to still hold up by the endgame instead of completely falling off.Essentially I'd be giving the girls with these traits the [Z+] powered skill (and some supplementary ones) they otherwise lack so they don't end up falling behind, as long as they still fit with the trait's intended theme itself. Given how many Girls from Part Three have unconditional +50% to even +100% universal power boosts, it would help them remain relevant, at least for those who'd like to use them. Curled horns and sheep ears, has bunch of clouds that act as clothing. And Baal Zebub's associated with insect/time magic/psychic/unarmed skills so you'd expect her to boost them.Yet Baal Zebub's trait instead focuses on Insect, Clubs and Black Magic. It didn't make sense to me at first.But while this doesn't match the other Calamities, her trait follows the same pattern the three Beelzebub Queens do: each has a trait that focuses on a weapon, Black Magic, and Insect Skills, with each having their own weapons of choice: Swords/Bows/Staves (White Magic). BZ's trait fits with them perfectly, rounding them out with Clubs.Also for fun, Gestalt and Hivemind have dialogue that talks about assimilation; how they got a woman or some insects into the Hivemind. What does Baal Zebub/"Hive Mind" talk about?How she was on a boat, with her followers.And that there's a haunted painting with a sister in it. All the other Bubs talk about ghost stories as well.I know it's already kind of obvious she wasn't originally meant to be the Hive Mind, but I think Baal Zebub was actually made/finished early enough that trtr had even completed her skill dialogues before her rewrite took place, and just never went back to update her call-outs accordingly. She might even have been intended to be fought or encountered around the Ship, judging from this, or perhaps was still fought on a deserted island in a different circumstance.I think this might honestly be part of why trtr had her be the only Calamity not to die: she probably wasn't ever intended to in the first place, and was likely meant to be recruited after a fight/sidequest in her original role. When repurposed, trtr probably didn't have the heart to commit to her death (remember he thought divorce was too cruel and rewrote Chaos to give her a happier ending), so he ended up having her defeated in another way that left her pacified.

I'm still making and going down the lists, but I've made good progress at least.I've also successfully tested and implemented another secondary feature that I wished trtr had done, since it was something trtr HAD done for numerous Girls all the way back in Part 1 but never went back nor forward with doing once a certain version of Part 2 had come out. But I've only done it for one girl so far (Reina, to nobody's surprise I'm sure). If you're working on this kind of plugin however you've probably already made more progress with it than I have though.

And sure enough, this works! Reina now innately gets to know this skill. It doesn't affect to much (she can't even use it early on because it's too high-costed until she starts learning other 1000 power skills anyway) but I thought it would be a nice and fun if simple thing to do. I've since also tested this with Honey as well.So essentially I just gave a couple of girls who have Sorceries the ability to know those Sorceries without needing to be halfway through the game to get them.It's not that big a deal, but I thought it might be a fun thing to do.
oh also i went to check where i remembered seeing #Notes in one of the files and, well, I'm glad the manual team pointed this out as I might not have noticed it otherwisePandora's a ghost using magic for god's sake and yet trtr somehow caused her trait to apply to plant skills of all things??? trtr i love you and i respect how much you were able to achieve all by yourself, but i seriously wish you'd worked with at least one person who at least just helped you double-check what you did.it shouldn't be too hard to fix this though; I'll just pull Pandora up in the actor file and correct this mistake myself. trtr probably just did another typo or something.

So that's easy enough.But as I was checking over Pandora's trait in order to double-check and make sure everything was correct I realized that there's a little quirk with how skills are identified compared to statuses: statuses are all listed very neatly and organized in a state list with specific state ids (1, 2, 3, 4 etc) and icon ids (17, 0, 0, 32 etc).However the skill id list begins with a blank line, and the result is that despite the file having each skill organized into "lines" which contain their numerical id, the "blank" skill category at the top causes every line to be delayed, meaning they don't actually match up to how trtr coded them to be recognized as (to my knowledge) the "blank" category is programmed to be ignored. So a skill categorized as being on line "69" is actually identified as "68", while "59" is actually "58". If you just looked at the line list in the note file, you'd think "69/59" are Sorcery/Plant respectively, but those are actually Ghost/Giant, and the real ids for Sorcery/Plant are "68/58" respectively.That sounds simple enough right? I'm leaving it at just those three characters for now since it's not as important to me as wanting to just make sure everything else is working fine.Also, I decided to add additional lines for Pandora (24-16-150, 24-17-150) to the part of her trait that trtr had added in the update as a compromise for those who prefer how her trait is from the bug.This way, Pandora's trait is correctly updated to match what trtr had intended to give her and what her description says (giving conditionals to white magic as well as black magic and sorcery), but she still keeps the part he erroneously gave her and thus gets to have those bonuses for time magic as well since it's still a nice benefit for her to have. If the train gets +125% agility and Petite has +750% ailment infliction rate to her very specific list of skills I don't think this will hurt to add back.
