You can hold tab and clear out towns from day 1 with a kitchen knife, even with stats set to 0 if you use a bush to kite enemies into. You loot 3 houses and find an intact real Katana to replace your knife for the rest of the game until hyper-late game.

Even with good preparation and skills, fighting more than 2 zombies at a time is lethal. Clearing is meticulous, time consuming and tiring. Resources and time spent killing+pulping zombies is resources and time not spent surviving. Weapons are harder to come by, and maintenance of them is crucial.

I must be really bad Path of Achra. I can't get past cycle 21. I did try copying other people's builds to do some earlier cycles but it's like I'm not even playing the game anymore so I stopped doing that. Now I tried like a dozen things, no armor build, summon build, stand still build, etc. and I can't get any build to actually stand up to the guy at the end who puts a million stacks of freeze and entangle on me so my speed is zilch. I wonder if Unreal World's community is as autistic and insufferable as the others? Probably not. The creator's main focus doesn't even seem to be the game. Unfortunately this also causes snailspace development of the game.

DCSS is overrun by troons who are obsessed with removing all fun and personality from the game.

CataDDA is lead by and overrun by another kind of autist who is obsessed with "making the game more realistic" without giving a damn about the game actually being fun.

Every single major roguelike community in the longterm seems to get overrun by autism in a bad way. This is also true I think of most projects with a high number of autismos in them. The passion + autism leads to a creation of something really cool, but eventually the passion is lost and only the autism remains, and the autism spirals out of control and totally ruins the project.

It is not so much the troonification of roguelikes that is the problem, rather it is this problem with autism.

It's not all bad, like the new Tlocs are great, but the devs try too hard to make their fancy new shit stand out and a lot of it is just tacky garbage that doesn't make sense. The glowing scarab transformation has a permanent ball of light that follows it around, but this doesn't have any effect on your stealth as a tiny insect so you and your glowing ball of light can sneak up and stab people constantly due to the inherent stealth advantages of wearing no armor and being size tiny. Also you have to play a dumb minigame swapping positions with your light ball to heal it in battle, and you need to do two punches in a row to charge it up for AoE explosions on a minion that you can't micro without wasting turns. It's such a clusterfuck and they just toss this shit into the game because the devs are obsessed with unnecessary complexity.

Yes. It just has 10000 AC, the issue is damaging it. The needle ignores AC and does 1 damage to uniques. That's all there is to it. I've killed the babble with a rune sword before, it's just tedious.

Well, I looked up the code for this, and it say

Given the guaranteed 5% chance to hit, why do people bother with the poison needle? The needle's "100% chance to hit, 5% chance to kill if you do" works out the same as a normal weapon's "5% chance to hit, 100% chance to kill if you do"

Yep, I just ran across that in the code. Metal Babble has 99% damage reduction from all sources. The resulting damage is rounded down, except if it would be zero, there's a 1/3 chance to do 1 damage instead. Obviously it would suck to have only 1/60 chance to do 1 damage instead of 1/20 chance, but I think I already have enough rings of combat that my normal damage per blow is at least 100

So far I've been trying to clear every dungeon, so I figure I should at least try to kill this thing, if it's at all possible. I'll go poke at it a bit in the arena dungeon and see how annoying it actually is to fight. It's very much worth it. Go through the tutorial to get the keybinds down, you'll get used to it in no time. UrW is so comfy bro you'll love it. If you don't want to get into too much complexity atm, just learn how to build a raft and trap fish for food.

The one thing about UrW that's sad is that you're limited to a single character and can't marry or have kids. So eventually you get this giant lodge going but no one can live there with you. I remember in my old game I made a giant house with a sauna, fences, mb a garden I can't remember. I had food storage for years. I had a ton of fish traps, and had learned how to use trap fences too.

I explored most of the world besides the njerpez because I didn't want to lose all my progress.

But in time, you just start to feel lonely. Like what's all this for? It's fun but you accumulate so many resources and you can't share them with anyone else or have any effect on anyone's life.

Apparently marriage USED to exist in the game but not anymore. I wonder when they'll add it back, if ever. I want to raise a nordic warrior son and go hunting with him and eventually carry on my house after I get Njerped
