The early days of HSR has the winning formula and there is no way they didn't know it: Lots of fun, gimmicky battling events and short but "shit happens" story. Absolutely no one played HSR for the big plot, they liked the fun random bs of the 1.X line. Every patch they are straying further from the core audience and it's like they don't understand it so double down with slop trying to improve it at the expense of the actual shit we all played the game for. Nobody gives a damn about the story, make it complete in 2 hours max and focus all the resources into battling and gimmick events. Back in the old days, the damn event storylines were longer than the actual plot content and that's a good thing.
