I feel like this entire argument about how the player character would act without metaknowledge, while interesting, is also somewhat arguing for the sake of arguing. Most companions are reasonable enough that you can form an uneasy alliance with them without resorting to violence or murder. I've never really thought, "I'm only keeping this companion alive against my Tav's better judgment because I know they're a video game character with an associated quest and 10 hours of voice acting." You don't really need mental gymnastics to justify sparing even the "evil" companions - with the exception of Astarion.

You can and should judge someone for achieved statuses, but there are various imperfections to judging people for ascribed statuses. So I personally would not kill Lazy on the grounds that she is a githyanki, but it's not unreasonable for someone who is genuinely scared at the sight of a githyani to do sol. Githyani have done a lot to earn that reputation. It's not unfounded or superstition.Thankfully, the game gives us an easy and elegant solution in the form of simply scaring Nymessa away. But in the absence of that easy solution, it's difficult to say what a realistic person would do in this situation. Given statistical averages, it's more likely that a random gith is a bad guy compared to a random tiefling, so the safer bet is to side with the teflings against the githyanki, if we're just going strictly by statistical likelihoods.

This game fixed me. I used to make good heroes, but now I picked official characters and started with Astarion and Shadowheart. I knew them a little from EA. So as Astarion I chose dumb or evil options in dialogues to keep him in-character and I liked it. Now I enjoy being evil in games.

The only of the Dead Three's motivations that makes any sense to me is Bhaal, just because Sarevok, when he was dead, dreamt/went to a place where he was on a red planet wandering after even the stars were going out, kind of to me implying that's if like Bhaal murdered literally everything possible, including ending up killing the gods too, since the statues talk about slaying the God of deathBut Bane and Myrkul don't really want that so idk why they'd sign on for this plan (but also I never really understood why "Tyranny" is a part of the death pantheon anyway, so what do I know?)
