Ultimately they got shot down by the council of state around 2022 who ruled there simply wasn't enough evidence to support loot boxes being classified as gambling or games of chances.I completely understand they wanted to not get fucked over around 2019 when that lawsuit happened, but it's now been 3 years since it got shut down completely and companies like Nexon still hold their stance to fuck over the Netherlands for some reason, which doesn't make any sense when you look at the myriad of other games that are allowed here just fine. Most gachas are available in the Netherlands just fine, hell even Amazon initially said they weren't going to launch Lost Ark in the Netherlands but after some of their own internal research ended up launching here anyway without any restrictions.Belgium does however have actual laws about loot boxes being banned however so I can't defend those guys.
