You can technically just spam the low pokes and just reaction block everything since the window for those are huge, but that damage is dog shit. You'll be doing hunts in twice or even three times the speed as you should be able to. I would argue Longsword. Longsword has a higher skill ceiling, BUT it also has the lowest skill floor. You can get by extremely well by simply pressing a 1, 2 combo and pressing your two hugely forgiving invincible counters. And by doing just these, you're already getting times better than most weapons MUCH EASIER.

Okay, call me retarded but I think convert element is worth it on gunlance. You're not really starved for armor skills so long as you have agitator and burst so slotting it in is easy. It's basically a free couple hundred damage for working into your wyrmstake full blast.
