Weird.
For some silly reason, I never used both VMware and VirtualBox at the same time for Windows XP and Windows Vista. That's why I never saw them as a viable option until then. But when you use them together; VMware for DirectX 9 games and VirtualBox for older one; the compatibility is surprisingly good. I was even able to play nearly all of my games; like The Sims 2 and World of Warcraft 5-CD retail with the Elysium Project (1.12.1) on VMware without any issues. Some of these games have a bad habit of messing with the host display, which is a big problem for ShaderGlass (it’s only compatible with VirtualBox, not VMware's KVM utility or default window). For other issues, i created Virtualization Pack section for you guys;https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Windows_NT_5.x_emulators#Virtualization_PackSimple scripts from that section handles nearly all cases for this Windows XP and Vista virtualization purpose. In that pack, I also provide lots of NoCD, NoDVD, and update patches. These are crucial because both VirtualBox and VMware have limited parser capabilities for BIN/CUE CD images and lack support for copy-protected DVD images like MDF/MDS? For better convenience, I've made LaunchBox scripts that directly launch games and automate things like fullscreen and shader overlays. The one short stick in my scripts is that VirtualBox's GUI has a built-in feature for changing discs while the VM is running, but VMware's KVM utility has no option for this so i need to install software on VirtualBox before launching the VMware.I'm also using ProtoWeb for a fun, retro web browsing experience.I haven't tried the portable apps from PortableApps.com yet (https://portableapps.com/node/70284), but they might be a good idea to use. For now, I don't want to mess with CLI tools like VBoxManage, even though I know it would be a more efficient way to go.If you've experienced this and want to help improve this section and the scripts, that would be really cool.
>>536082851I have also supplied a number of wrappers in that pack that are compatible with 32-bit Windows XP.
>>536082851Not much I didn't already have/know, but thanks. May use this pack if I ever lose my VM setups and feel lazy. You should upload a softgpu 9x machine too, or I should
>>536083698>>536082851Consider using Supermium in WinXP/Vista guests. It'll browse modern websites and youtube just fine, and works with those legacy systems. I get ProtoWeb for the retro feel, but just letting you know there is another way for modern sites.
>>536083739I've mentioned the SoftGPU project in several sections of the Emugen Wiki, including the one on Windows NT 5.x emulators;https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Windows_NT_5.x_emulators#HypervisorsI've never bothered to set up a Windows 9x VM. The IBM-PC emulators work great, and frankly, I'm too lazy to go through the extra hassle. I believe the SoftGPU project is very promising for the future though. It could be especially useful for API passthrough approach (like QEMU 3dfx), which would be a huge benefit for Windows XP and Vista "emulation".
>>536084709And for PowerPC Mac OS X, maybe?
>>5360847093dfx is hardly what XP/Vista need. Voodoo cards were laughably outdated by 2001. Passthrough is a giant pain in the ass that no one should go through just for games. Any other method is preferred.
>>536085012I might do the needful for that, and my Win95/DOS Towns and PC98 setups. Just have to bundle them in a way that I'm sure is portable... some day. I feel like even getting these things to work, let alone sharing it, is a wobbly house of hards.
>>536085291>>536085012oh, nvm you were still talking about passthrough. Yuck. Let's just not talk about that anymore... let's try to recommend stuff people will actually want to use, lol. On the topic of MacOS X PPC emulation; it's kind of a no-go in general. I used it in QEMU a couple years ago and it was pretty rotten. Sheepshaver/PearPC 68k/PPC OS8/9 emulation seems okay-enough, though.
>>536085291Getting old pc systems 9x to run is pretty easy these days, you've got "good enough" emulators like Tsugaru, 86Box, DOSBox-Pure, np2kai, basiliskII, sheepshaver and PUAE that make it almost plug-and-play.The real headache starts with systems from the 2000s and later, such as macOS X and Windows NT 5.x/6.x. Trying to virtualize them with a Type-2 hypervisor is a completely different thing. While QEMU's TCG emulation is an option, its compatibility is pretty bad, and it has no 3D acceleration support.I am aware that my current method (using the scripts that I provided) for simple start/stop services and enable/disable drivers is not an advanced approach. I am also wondering about those PortableApps packages that I shared in a previous comment and how they approach this. There are other discontinued projects?, such as vbox.me (I used this one back in the day) and PocketVBox. To me, they look like primitive launcher solutions though, but I don't know for sure.
>>536087063I also tried using QEMU KVM with GPU passthrough back in the day using ubuntu-server with terminal, but 'too much' work and of course it is real hardware dependent, so i don't think that approach has a future for this job
>>536082851Oh, by the way, what I mean by 'at the same time' is using the same .vmdk disk image for both VirtualBox and VMware, which is Windows XP with both guest additions and VMware tools installed.

Right now, all the big players; Cemu, RPCS3, Xenia Canary, ShadPS4, and Vita3K are pretty much in the same boat, with most of them only reaching somewhere around 50% to 65% compatibility.

is there a reason I'm getting slowdown in fucking original gameboy emulation? using the sameboy RA core, pc specs are upperI'm not talking about slowdown intrinsic to the gameboy, this is emulator specific and limited to certain rooms or scripted events in some games, they just start running at ~80% speed and can't even fast forward because it's apparently maxing out an entire cpu core

It's probably only about 60-65% done, which is why I'd put it in the same category as other seventh-gen emulators. >>536120302I don't know. Hire some troons. Fix it. It's stagnant trash otherwise.
>>536121513It comes from PCem, which IS troonware, and while it is faster, that's because it's less accurate and uses an arcane dynarec only the troon understood, and even then it's only by like 20-30% at most. It's just not feasible, bud. Stick to VMs or PCGamingWiki, or cope with DOSBox and its buggy Windows support.
Considering how single-threaded PCem's CPU emulation is, I wonder if vulkan compute would actually deliver better results.
>>536121883I know all that. I'm just tired of it being a Pentium II simulator. It's been a decade. It needs to get better. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the micro-improvements but it's still fucking old.
>>536119292I'm aware of how impossible the low-level emulation of Radeon or GeForce is, but it would be wonderful if a high-level emulation project for the GeForce 6600 GT emerged for both Windows XP and Mac OS X PPC.Just look at what's been done;RPCS3, which imitates? the RSX GPU (a modified GeForce 7800 GTX).Xenia, which emulates the Xenos GPU (an AMD Z430 based on the R400 architecture) with its DirectX 9.0c superset.Xemu, with its emulation of the NV2A GPU.The recent efforts of the ShadPS4 project in emulating the AMD Liverpool GPU.Hypervisor's obsolete virtual GPU adapters for legacy operating systems (e.g., VboxVGA, VMware SVGA II) and API wrappers (e.g., d3d8to9, D3D9On12, or even WineD3D/DXVK)I know there are lots of hardware for PCs unlike those "static" console hardware but this kind of project (e.g., 6600GT emulation on high-level?) would teach us a ton about emulating GPUs from that era...
>>536123490Cool attitude, devs. So all there is to look forward to is preening of the app, good to know. Yeah, they probably should do it high-level. Isn't the 3dfx stuff high level anyway? So they're already playing with that stuff a bit.
>>536122243I don't see what the problem with that is, when the only real reason you'd even want to set up PCem or forks is either to run certain DOS games with more obscure system configurations not covered by DOSBox, or to run 90's Windows games that are hard to get working natively even with wrappers and whatnot, and in neither case do you need a Pentium III or Athlon. Not that I wouldn't like to see those CPUs emulated, mind you, but they're hardly what's missing from the equation. More important IMO would be emulating more of the early GPUs like the Matrox cards, as well as sound cards supporting A3D or EAX.
>>536124152There's a good chunk of 9x-ware from the late 90s that doesn't like Win7+ and newer CPUs/GPUs, and is happier running on P3/4 + GF1.
>>536124152>>536124341and I dunno, it's not silly to expect the project to get better, is it? I guess I know not to expect anything from them, and simply wait for a better project to come along, or as you said, just use existing solutions like wrappers/fixes/VMs.
There's also moments where PCem/86box is weirdly taxed. Certain IO heavy Windows navigation tasks or some games will hammer the virtual CPU more than others. Some games, even ones you wouldn't think aren't that heavy, cause stutter when the 350mhz-400mhz CPU is fine 90% of the time otherwise. It just needs to get better. This is still a problem and I have a Zen4. It's less excusable every year.
>>536123490Isn't Windows NT5 source code leaked years ago?https://github.com/tongzx/nt5src
>>536124651It's not silly, but think for a moment what you're asking for. You want a PC emulator capable of emulating P3/4-era hardware at playable speeds on current hardware, right? That's most certainly not going to happen with the approach taken by PCem or forks, because they're aiming to be accurate emulators of many, many PC components. The only way I could conceive of such a thing working is if someone built an emulator from the ground up targeting only a very narrow set of components (say, a 733 MHz Coppermine Pentium III with a GeForce 3, a Sound Blaster Live, 128 MB of RAM, and assorted peripherals and add-ons) and emulating them only to the degree that they can come together to get Windows 98 installed and games working. So basically, you get Xemu: good enough to get stuff working and running, but with somewhat spotty compatibility, except here it'll likely be worse because games weren't all made with one such configuration in mind, so maybe we add more cards to cover those cases, and... yeah, sounds like a hell of a job.
>>536126865>>536123490Yeah, I think that would be the most realistic approach in the near future, focusing on specific hardware like DirectX 9.0c GPU and SSE3 CPU. It's kind of like how Xemu works with QEMU (I guess they're using TCG emulation?)
What's the best way to record emulated games? My recordings look fine when I'm recording a regular PC game but for some reason emulation recordings always have a bit of video stutter once in a while. I'm assuming it's because NES games run at 60.0988 FPS for example
>>536128750Yeah, that's the caveat with game recordings. They only look good on a VRR display and captured at a variable framerate too.
>>536128858I tried recording both with and without VRR in Retroarch but both look like shitHow do people do it? There's plenty of retro game footage that's not choppy online
>>536128750If the emulator doesn't have it (many do, including Retroarch, check that first) use ShareX, then you can use Shotcut to edit it after the fact, and I use this Fileconverter.io thing to compress it down + resize it in a pinch via rightclick/context menu. ScreenToGif is good for making gifs from still images, the gifski encoder is really efficient in it. Hope this answers your questions anon.
>>536128750It may be best to lock the game to 60fps and deal with a very slight speed inaccuracy for recording's sake. You may just need to check your encoding settings in your capture program too.
and just an fyi 4chan will show h264 mp4s as well as webms, and in my experience the mp4s allow for higher quality and longer footage within 4mb.
>>536130078h264 is better than VP8, but 4chan also supports VP9 webms which is much better than h264.
>>536134075Huh, maybe it was just my luck encoding that day. I'll have to try both again with the same content.
>>536130078bullshit
>>536137498Yeah, it may have been. The other guy seems to think VP9's better too, so, perhaps my encoder was set funny vs h264 that day, or I was still using 8.

Xemu's definitely getting better. Was able to run that version of Vice City with basically no issues... except for one that seems to be in a few games: some sounds play back muffled or with the EQ or something off.
>>536184916You can emulate it through Pokemon Stadium's built in GB emulator that worked through the transfer pak. A really wacky way to go about it. He's memin' you. It is possible to emulate it this way, though...
>>536185459On real hardware, it did have the advantage of having a fast-forward option (or was that only in Pokemon Stadium 2? I forget), plus being able to then quickly switch over to Pokemon Stadium and use your Pokeymens in the battle modes without skipping a beat was peak comfy. But yeah, if you don't intend to play through Pokemon Stadium, it's useless, and even then emulating the GB tower is kinda janky last I checked.

>>536249309>>536243057This is just a bit of a 'thing' in widescreen Wii games. They don't really adhere to 16:9 like you expect them too, often being a little wide or thin like this. You're probably just gonna have to deal with some black bars and/or manually adjust the ratio. Retroarch has a lot more cropping/ratio options.
Are you using hacks on top of the game to make it widescreen or solely game's widescreen mode? If it's the latter it's probably just baked in wrong; tough luck. Be sure you're only use one or the other, not both wide hacks and the game/consoles widescreen.
>>536226292I got it to downsample into 240p using RA's Dolphin core and one of Guest's shaders with properly spaced scanlines once (I forgot exactly how I did it, but I posted pics here). Mario 64 even gave players a neat visual explanation why with Lakitu: If you press the left camera button, the camera will reveal what's to Mario's right but that's because Lakitu's body will naturally move to the left while filming Mario. Not sure why we moved away from that but maybe just because "normal" sounds like the more logical default setting. Definitely can't recommend getting used to "normal" if you don't want many older games to feel grating.
>>536348382Funnily enough, Nintendo themselves changed it with this cheap port collection so Lakitu's movement no longer even made sense and there were no camera settings to speak of. Luckily, enough people complained so they at least patched in camera options sometime after release and people could play the 3D Mario games like how they remember playing them.

>>536356498I would guess you're using your shader (guest?) to downsample instead of the core itself, which is probably making your life harder. I've done it this way with KOF99 Evo as the DC core doesn't have downsampling, but this isn't necessary here. In Parallel you can set the multiplier and downsampling to match and get the desired results.
>this dumb lego game runs at 60fps locked with the "fullspeed" option set in the coreCan't do that on Ares. (yet)
>>536356498>scanline shaders at 4x res without a downsample passThat's a problem, none of them will look right with scanlines that fine, and is borderline pointless anyway. You're effectively having scanlines as thin as a high res VGA monitor, which were nearly invisible.

>>536358568and if your shader's the downsample pass (should be 4x to match the 4x uprez) it should come out as 240p or 480i depending on system/game) you should get the proper scanlines and resolution
>>536358879Okay, then you want to target 480i, and you'll want a 4K monitor at the least to get scanlines, grille and geometry that don't look like liquid shit. You'd upsample 4-8x, then downsample 2-4x respectively to get the 480i/p result.
>>536359021>>536358879One problem with going 480, however, is that the HUD/2D elements will start to look like shit because of the disconnect with the 3D

>>536362462It's an antialiasing effect, seems to be more compatible/less glitchy with some games than MSAA in my experience. When you have it downsampled back to native, it will also work with scanline shaders properly too.
>>536362462Another benefit of downsampling vs 1x, MSAA or other postprocess blurs is it'll resolve more distant elements with less blur because there's more data to draw from. Then once it's back to 240p with the higher distant details, you can apply a scanline CRT shader to it with desired results. I'll make a PS1 one later as it's more dramatic. N64 has some blur+AA baked into its image even at 1x raw.

Comparing N64 and PS1 Lego Racers I finally noticed that my N64 rom runs at double speed for some reason. I always wondered why the game is so hard. I completed it this way. Using RetroarchI tried MK64 and it runs normal. I also tried Lego Racers 64 on Ares and it runs normal there. Anyone any idea if there is a Retroarch setting that could cause specifically Lego Racers (and maybe some other games I'm not aware of) to run at double speed?

>>536368054Make sure "full speed" isn't enabled and Count Per Op is at 0. I notice the N64 game is running at 60fps and your PS1 game's running at 30.
Kind of a dumb question but I've been out of it for a while. Are 3ds roms like modern games where you have to download a patch to apply to them or are they either already updated by the uploader or just don't really need updates for some reason?

>>536368553>Make sure "full speed" isn't enabled and Count Per Op is at 0. IAlready how it was. Also checked the time trial clock in Wave Race and F-Zero and both run normal. Lego Racers is the only game my Retroarch insists on creating a .pak file for in my game folder maybe it has something to do with that? Using Mupen
>>536371987Set VI Refresh Rate down to Auto or 1500 as well.
>>536373449Just tried that with no success
>>536373753Next step would be to try it in RMG, since that shares a similar core. If it's the same there, then it's an issue with Mupen64Plus's timings, which can and has been known to result in some games running faster, and ares definitely emulates this better.

>>536376681>You DID make sure to restart the content after changing settings, right? No. Made the mistake to trust Retroarch telling me if I have to or not (with some settings it tells you). Turning V1 Refresh to auto is what fixed it, though I still think it's a tiny bit off when I compare the ingame clock to my Windows clock (Auto possibly a tiny bit faster and 1500 a tiny bit slower), but a nonissue compared to beforeThanks a lot. Love this game for some reason and prefer the N64 aesthetic (and loading times) over the PS1 one which I guess I would've fallen back on>I also noticed you're using the cached interpreter, but I doubt that could be the culprit. Is pure interpreter generally better? I honestly have no clue with some of these Retroarch settings even after watching a bunch of videos
>>536354116The only reason it's better than mupen64plus-nx is because of a small fix in timing accuracy, which fixes various issues in DK64 (rope swing in opening start menu, music not playing at correct times in opening cutscene, probably more)Knife's Edge still doesn't run at correct speed
Why does this get so much hate, it's better than the Futurama game at least. Feels like written by someone who would write an episode
>>536374979Well I'm stumped I have the same settings as my PC version of PPSSPP but it won't work on my phone. I mean I guess it's cool that it works on my computer but I can literally just emulate the real Rock Band games on PC not to mention shit like Clone Hero and YARG, ya know... existing. I just wanted to play the funny Crazy Taxi song during my breaks at work fuck sakes. I mean I can still listen to All I Want with the custom soundtrack features in Gran Turismo and Crazy Taxi Fare Wars but my entitled autism says. "no I wanna also play the song too". Back to the road I guess.
>>536379096lel, glad you got it sorted though. As for the interpreter, AFAIK you pretty much almost want to use the dynamic recompiler. Supposedly the interpreter cores are more accurate, but I'm not aware of a case where they actually make a difference in Mupen. They're more of a "try this out as a fallback in case shit's broken and/or there's been a regression" kind of thing. Where you DO want to use interpreter is in Project64 because zilmar has been rewriting the whole fucker from top to bottom and has broken the dynarec on many games, but I don't recommend Project64 at all, so it's moot.

>>536365592>it'll resolve more distant elements with less blur because there's more data to draw fromThisFor some reason people are retarded and they think downsampling just makes the image blurrier. Yes, you lose a bit of contrast because because the smaller pixels inside the larger pixels you downsample to get averaged, but you also get more detail and less flickering for tiny/thin objects like the crane here
>>536396337To be fair, as a downsampling appreciator, I don't think it looks that hot by itself, but combined with CRT shading it's something special. Especially with those 2D background/polygonal model games like PE and RE.
Ah, the halcyon days of being called a shiteater because I used downsampling + CRT shading instead of GOOD N CORRECT slop textures. I still don't know if that was Ivan or Cigster.
>>536396337Bottom looks almost PS2-esque if you squint
>>536396337Can I have some upscaling to compare?
>>536401235Uprendering, of course, will look much better. It's just the expected HD look. Downsampling is good for CRT shading with proper scanlines and keeping all elements uniform. HD rendering 5th gen games creates a clash between HUD elements/2D backgrounds/sprites and polygonal objects. Basically just look at any HD render of these games and you have your comparison. I can upload a gif later anyway.
So if you upscale a game x4 what should you downsample it? 1/2, 1/4, 1/8?
>>536401235or do you literally mean upscaling, as in a post-process scaler of the raw native res image? Upscaling is so goddamn misused I have to ask.
>>536401869If you want to render it like a 15khz consumer TV did, with a line between every row of pixels; the divider should match the multiplier. This will also make all 2D and 3D uniform in resolution, which creates a cohesive image.
>>536401904Uprendering
>upscaling still misused to this dayIt will never not hurt, and people will never stop doing it.
>>536401869>>536402316Yeah, generally speaking, they should match. Of course you can experiment if you want it a bit crispier or thinner scanlines. 2D/3D will start to clash at that point, though. That may be okay with you.
For 640x480 or 6th gen stuff, you may find that MSAA's a bit more practical, if available. It will not resolve distant elements any better, though, but downsampling isn't as necessary as it is at 240p
>>536402249>>536402594So x4 = 1/4? Makes sense

The cloud castle backdrop will display in a lighter shade instead of flickering, which was the trick they pulled off to get extra colors thanks to the GB's slow pixel response. You can set pixel response in the shaders too, but I find it much more invasive and distracting than the core's interframe blending.

>>536514082There's really only two 'good' options for games made like this. Downsample or go the cursed fan-upscale texture replacement route. Some of them aren't tooooo bad anyway.
>>536514804Admit it, 86Box is and will only be for MS-DOS and Windows 9x, the pre-SSE era. It's just for 3DNow! and MMX CPUs, and 2D, 3dfx, and DirectX 6.0 GPUs. That's it, not without changing their low-level approach...
>>536503482While that's indeed 'good' in the Funky Kong sense, it's kind of nuts that post-processed shading algorithms can do that.
>>536515872Yes, just as it always was before these guys gussied it up. Not admitting it for DOS, though. 0 benefit over DOSbox-X or Pure for games, and worse in several ways. >>536515360>cursed fan-upscale texture replacement routeLooks great in HD without that disgusting shit. If you really hate retro fidelity though, another alternative is the 3D demake
It's also *barely* good enough for P2/9x, and sometimes not good enough. You need a state-of-the-art CPU to consistently run at 300-400mhz, and even then some games/apps will mysteriously tank it. It needs optimization, you simp.
>>536516314Yeah, I'm using DOSBox-Pure for DOS and Windows 9x, even though it currently has no MMX emulation. I don't think we'll see an SSE3/DirectX 9.0c emulation in the near future, regardless of the approach. The only option is virtualization, but that's a ticking time bomb at this point.
>>536516663It doesn't look great in HD in the indoor scenes, that was what we were talking about. Those prerendered panning videos are like sub-240p, the 3D model clash in HD against them is hideous.

>>536510578RA keeps rendering the game, shader effects included, even when paused in a menu. Then it does some convoluted transparency effect which probably involves copying around and resizing buffers. It's doing this at your full monitor refresh rate rather than the 60hz or whatever the game is normally being rendered at, even if you have menu opacity set to 1.Basically, the RA menu really should have a true opaque mode that completely halts all video processing for the active game when using it.

I am using Eden.Obviously I googled it the fuck up, but the guides and discussions don't list all the dependences or how to install/use. What's the best scanline shader for a CRT monitor? I bought one (still waiting for my adapter to come) but I'm a retard who didn't do enough research and only found out afterwards that the monitors aren't really ideal for pre-PS2 era games and don't have prominent scanlines. >>536794816https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Displays#CRT_monitorsA lot of good information here. The most important bit IMO is the superwide resolution stuff, as that will guarantee that games are always displayed at the proper aspect ratio. The stuff about getting it to output or fake 240p is good, but you may find 480p still looks plenty good, and that doesn't come with a brightness penalty, nor does it require fucking with shaders.
>>536794816I also have a crt monitor, nothing you can do will make it actually look close to a crt tv. When you get your tv you will see that. Just play some old pc games on it and enjoy it that way.

Not as appealing as "real" scanlines but it still gives the image a nice texture, especially the 480p example. The CRT resolution stuff confuses me desu. >>536803224Gonna pull out the ps3 then. Thanks anon. Was gonna play shit like Tokyo jungle or siren blood curse.
>>536805841CRTs don't work in terms of pixel resolution like LCDs do. Rather, their limits are specified in terms of their scan rate in KHz, which is a function of the number of lines they are able to draw within a single frame times the number of frames they are able to draw in a second (the refresh rate). So for instance, in all likelihood your monitor's maximum is probably 70 KHz, which means 1024x768 at a refresh rate of 85 Hz, but if you bring the refresh rate down to 60 Hz, it can most likely output at 1280x1024 no problem.Notice I keep mentioning lines, which are essentially vertical resolution. That's because CRTs don't give a rat's ass about horizontal resolution. To a CRT, 320x400 and 640x400 are the same thing, which is why people have taken advantage of this property to make "superwide" resolutions that can accomodate any number of lower resolutions and display them all in 4:3 (after correction on the emulator side, of course) with no noticeable scaling artifacts and no blurring.
>and thus your emulated video games will never perfectly sync with your modern monitor

>>537156742It's not the ps2s fault that its controller was more advanced than whatever shit you're using now.
>>537159380I'm aware of how dualshock 2 functions nevertheless>x to accelerate>square to break>r1 to nitrowill never be as comfortable as triggers for gas/break and a for nitrogod bless MICROSOFT and BILL GATES personally for INVENTING XBOX.
>>537158786How is a ps3 controller gimped? It can do everything the ps2 controller can.
>>537160368getting a ps3 controller to play with scuffed default controls layout is gimping yourself
>>537162148Its perfectly functional and feels fine if you're using the right controller. Sounds like you're just malding because you don't have one.Why don't you go play the xbox version buddy?
>>536082321Best ways to play SNES games on Vita?Native apps? RA? Or Adrenaline PSP emulators?
>>537162363>ummm you have le wrong controlleryou actual imbecile analog face buttons are USELESS in (real) racing games because you're obviously at top speed at all times pushing that button as hard as you can and using the same finger to gas/break IS uncomfortable
>>537163590get ChimeraSNESpretty much better than most AdrenPSP emulators, comes with more optionscouldn't get Castlevania 4 to run properly on SNES9xTYL, runs like a dream on Chimera
>>537164250>at top speed all the timesThe concept of curves seem to eludes you. Or you must play the most arcady shit ever.
Any knowlegdeable anons in regards to the vita3k here? Is there a way to make rePatch files work? I want to apply a translation patch on a game but the emu is kinda bitchy about it.
>>537165535good racing games expect you to drift road curves, not slow down like a faggot
>>537165620no real way, you just have to outright replace the files with the repatch oneshope your dump is unencrypted
>>537164250>as hard as you canJust don't then. Push the button half as hard. It's simple dude.
>>537166143>failed to decrypt module file app0 eboot.binI guess not..
>>537160176>bless SEGA for INVENTING DREAMCAST
>>537169102>speaking of the cursed consoleGreat, here comes the "DUDE THE COLORS" and "it's all on other systems" anti-DC schizo. I dunno why a system can't just be a neat little thing that failed.
No shader
>>537174008Bruh look at how the black pixels become birdsLook at how the stream of pixels with banding artifacts becomes a sunset reflecting off the water
Oh my that pre-rendered background baked lighting is better than gay tracing
>>537174657>>537174824My CRT TV didn't look like this.
>>537073196>This game is complete bull by the way.welcome to gradius>you'll need some practice
>>537174657Needs some contrast/color/white point tweaking per usual but you have the right idea. Not a fan of composite/RF style crawl. My idea of an idea 'composite' shader is something that looks more like svideo with some dither/mesh blurring.
>>537176079also not a fan of the stupid vignette Royale comes with stock.
>>537176258just disable it?
>>537174657Yeah, get it, it help with bird/sun backgroung, too bad it made the rest of the image blurry and darker. It's always the same thing, to have 10% of the image right, you have to destroy 90% of the rest.
>>537174657>>537174824looks like ASSjust buy a fucking crt you dweeb retard
>>537174657>>537174824Lookin' pretty GOOD!My crt was a bit sharper than this though. You should adjust the blur a bit
>>537177067Yes. That's what I'm saying.
Why even have the artifacts at all? Modern NTSC shaders can get you the blending benefits of composite without all the extraneous junk like dot crawl and color bleed.>but I like the blurYou can also have that if you wish, again, without the other crap that adds nothing but noise and degradation.
>>537174008>>537174657Share your shader anon
>>537174947Mine does but better.
>>536911578>https://github.com/RPCS3/rpcs3/pull/17455Gonna grab an artifact just in case, because that sounds serious. A whole chain of multiple PRs each of them harming performance. Yikes.https://github.com/RPCS3/rpcs3/actions/runs/17307277905?pr=17455#artifacts
>>537175178Very few mainline Gradius entries are actually fun. I said what I said. Parodius is far more playable overall. Famicom Salamander and Gradius 2 are decent, as well as Gradius Gaiden. I like V but the asteroid belt stage always filtered me.
>>537182195Thanks, heeblad. I thought his whole deal was making it work on a Pi or some dumb shit.
>>537094549I'd do that Shy Guy.
>>537174657>>537174824Too blurry and eye rapeyWould look better using downsampling instead, especially considering it's a game using what are essentially downsampled images for the backgrounds
>>537190645Just downsampling wouldn't do much if anything for the backgrounds though.
>>537190829NoThe point of downsampling is to make the 3D models fit with the background more, as if they're part of the world in the background instead of just superimposed over an image. Try it in any game with 2d/pre-rendered backgrounds and you'll see
>>537191534Did you not read what anon said why he likes the shader?>Look at how the stream of pixels with banding artifacts becomes a sunset reflecting off the water
>>537191653And it looks even better with downsampling without turning the image into eyerape
>>537192169You can't downsample a background texture. Show me an example.
>>537192343Are you baiting? I literally said it affects the 3D models and make them blend with the backgrounds more. I never said it did anything to the backgrounds
>>537193306Then why did you even bother saying it looked bad when you don't even value the blending of the background like that anon does with his shader? Clearly you have less taste.
>>537193572You can combine both but tone down the shader blur
>>537193991True. I thought about saying that but didn't bother.
>>537182195>https://github.com/RPCS3/rpcs3/pull/17427If Ciggy's nemesis is Stenzek, then, Kd-11 one are the nvidia drivers.
I like emu
>>537196493Me too, emu is good.
>>537199497This includes PGXP w/ downsampling, just an fyi
>>537199497omg is that pomni!?
If you're not using PGXP + downsampling for 2D backdrop polygonal games, you're basically doing it wrong.
>>537199497Should compare the shader with downsampling vs without downsampling to see if there's much of a difference.
>>537145213get fucked mexican microcuck lmao
>>537207208It's past the bump limit, you can go home now.
so this is how emulation dies...
