What are you doing there, Sparta?
>>536279410Why do you think the latest unreal engine makes games look like slop? I kinda agree, I got that feeling with frostpunk 2 but I want to hear your point of view.
>>536282348To be honest, I don't care how a game looks. I care that it runs at all. Unreal Engines 4 and 5 are like fat pigs that can never be satisfied. They eat up far too much system resources for their own good.I know some of you don't give a shit, but most people just don't have the hardware to even play those games. Some have to make do with decade-old laptops that were hand-me-downs from their fathers, who got all the good shit for themselves and shared it with nobody.Especially when some still have to make do with malfunctioning 1GB GPUs and 2nd gen Intel CPUs, like me. UE4 runs at seconds per frame in my rig, and usually doesn't run at all. 5... I won't even bother. And I bet you'll just brainlessly shout "hurr durr poorfag" but this shit is becoming widespread. That's one of the reasons younger people stopped playing AAAslop, as their stuff can never run those pieces of shitty and buggy, bloated software.

>>536284596Yeah I agree with this too. I thought that it was more style related because I've seen some comments of people that said that unreal engine 5 has this particular look that you can recognize across different games made with that engine. I stopped caring about graphics too a long time ago. There are so many great classic games that I've played over the years that I didn't have a chance to play as a kid that helped form this opinion. I also prefer indie games most of the time because I've always been a poorfag too, I just can't be bothered to spend that much money on a single hobby.
Sorry bros, I haven't been keeping up. The last time I posted I had finished the gold seal. I told myself that I would stay on top of my log and stuff, but in reality I'm all the way to adamantine cycle now and I am like 50 entries behind. I still take the important technical notes each time, but I have not turned it into a narrative since around the middle of Platinum. I will try to get to it soon, but honestly every time I come to the decision of catching up on the log or playing the game, I choose playing the game.

Again with this manlet clown. Luckily I have security that can turn this arround sheesh.
>>536406914>Yeah this game is by the same developer.Oh...Yeah, sorry, but it's a big miss for me, I tried This Is The Police, and I absolutely hated it and had a miserable time. It's one of these games where you can't win because the system is so insanely corrupted that you play against overwhelming odds and I hated it.It seems this cinema game is a bit similar, given some of the screens you shown. She was only 15.>He also keeps making film about a character named Horatio. At least he doesn't ask for young actress feet pics.
>>536407550I liked This is the Police. You just need to be careful and pay attention. Some of the calls you get give a hint if they can be trusted. For example sometimes you get a call from an elderly person hearing something going on in the appartment next door, these kind of calls can just be false alarms. There are a few story missions that can fuck you up though. I think this game is far less rail roaded because they're not trying to tell a specific story.
Yes, thank you Wiz, what an excellent edition to our story element toolkit.

Oh damn I just realized that the reason Halo War is so easy is because picking Easy slashes the enemy's HP.

Right in the middle of filming. She wanted to make a comeback but alas. I have to restart, I made too many mistakes early on that have cost me too much money. >>536469626Endless Legend 1, it's a city of the Wild Walker faction.>>536469289No not at all. You can hire almost anyone on a per movie basis, you can also buy good scripts. It is a bigger financial risk and since I'm still learning the game I try to steer clear of big financial gambles. In this regard the game is much better than The Movies in which you really are forced to produce mountains of bad movies.

>>536470384Hot.
>>536472668Build whichever one matches your donut steel empire OC.Nothing wrong with being a super xenophobic species obsessed with perfection who genetically engineer themselves and terraform their worlds.
>>536483045There are no perfect people just those without major risks. It's okay to have one or two people on a film with an addiction or some other problem but if you have too many it can quickly spiral out of control. You burn through a million pretty quickly if that happens to one of your more expensive films. Also I wouldn't say the game is cynical, showbusiness has had a darker side especially in the early 20th century.

WRSR heating system is raping my brain... I made it through the last year fine (~12-14C in most of my city during the harshest siberian winter months), but after building a few more districts and failing to finish a new heating plant in time, my city is now falling below 10C across the board and there is nothing I can do about it because the heat exchangers have a ~400m range and I can't "disconnect" all the surplus housing even after it becomes depopulated. I managed to finish the heating plant and a single heat exchanger by December, and it's working in full force, but now I have a 80C water temp heat exchanger sitting next to 60C water temp housing, and it seemingly does nothing to heat things up. After playing over 100 hours of Civ V I now realize just how bad the snowball effect is. If I'm 1/3rd of the way into the game and I feel like I'm behind, it doesn't give me a lot of confidence to continue, especially on a map like archipelagos where it's difficult to lean into other victory types like Diplomacy or Domination. It's pretty much Culture or Science or bust

C-beams destroyer.
Wish 4X/strategy games had better representation of asymmetric war and low level conflict. War in games is too binary where you're either at peace or at total war with another faction but it would be interesting to be able to fight another civ at peace with clashes that may or may not escalate. A common complaint about war games is that peace is too boring so this would make things a little less dull.
>>536901878Civ opened my eyes when I realized that in many cases a Civilization whether peaceful or not will not respect your shared border unless you have units lined up along it

Well, it's over. It's so owari da it's not even funnySo basically I had been behind on keeping my logs since that instance where 3 villagers died and I CHEATED to save them, using my own retarded headcanon to justify quitting out and reloading. Should've really just ended the entire run there desu. That was around the Platinum Cycle, I believe. Anyways, I reached all the way up to Adamantine and several things happened that just killed my run. First off, this ENTIRE run, I had only settled the cursed royal woodlands biome a single time prior to this last village. It's already a rare biome, but it was really unusual that I didn't have any opportunities to get it. This last place was the second time I found it. The big thing is that a Bat starved to death here. And she starved to death while there was food literally in the production building as they were bringing it to the warehouse. Immediately following that, there was a surplus of food because I just had gotten the building online. While this was happening, I was worried about them dying from blight corruption, as there was 30 blightflowers (insane amount) due to a glade event. I survived that by building 7 extra blightpost stations, but I was so focused on combating the blight, that I didn't notice my food was dissappearing. I do think it was a little bit bullshit because it didn't give me a warning beforehand. The game is supposed to tell you when villagers are dying of starvation, and it did. It told me HUMANS ARE STARVING. i said "okay, no problem, there's food on the way. It usually takes another couple minutes before the gu-DDDIIIINNNNNGGGG A BAT (BUILDER) HAS DIED (STARVED TO DEATH)WHAT THE FUCK man. It didn't warn me. She just fucking died after it told me Humans were starving. Anyways. I won the settlement in the end. BUT, here is the second thing that killed my run. I was just out of reach of the Sealed Forest with no more time left. I don't feel like I fucked around too much this cycle
At the start I made a short detour before heading as straight as I could towards the seal. But as I got close to the end, I needed some negative modifers on the overworld so I could get extra settlement distance as a reward for beating them. I had timed it out, calculated it. There were 3 opportunities before the seal and I just needed one of those fucking questionmarks to be a negative mod. Nope. Two positive and one world event. After finishing the settlement where a bat died, I was ready to atleast attempt the final seal anyways, but nope. World event. In the end, both of these things were my fault. I should not have let the Bat die, and I should not have dilly dallied at the start of the cycle. I had 3 original goals with this playthrough.>beat the game without failing a settlement>beat the game with no villagers dying>beat the game without failing a single seal in progressionI failed 2/3 of these goals. Technically, I didn't fail at a seal, as I didn't lose the game ON the seal, but I was considering failing to reach it to begin with as a fail state. So now my game stats say>100% win rateBut in my heart I know it's 99%And that's why I've decided to canonically end this run here, with the Viceroy dissapearing into the curesd royal woodlands without a trace. The log unfinished, devolving over time into schizobabble as I just bulletpointed things and said fuck you to the game alot, only writing down the autistic technical side of things instead of an actual written story. My previous full game run was a little similar. I made it close to the cobalt seal and I accidentally got 20 people killed in one village after destroying a firemoth hearth lol. That run ended canonically with the Viceroy becoming a firemoth himself, staring into the flames of the ruined Hearth. Anyways. I probably will not go back and finish these logs. I will probably play again and close the adamantine seal anyways, just so this run is "closed off" for good. But yeah. That's all folks
>>536869847I know literally nothing about this, but doesn't it mean that the agriworld will still lose water, since it stays on the customer planet?

The trouble with (being born) the coastal grove is this FUCKING feeling lucky deed and achievement. It sucks and it's fucking gay. The game is full of rng to a large extent, but it's almost never pure rng, as you have choices and always have multiple ways to handle thingsBut this deed asks you to send out expeditions on the water to find a single random blueprint out of 28. It is completely rng with virtually a single way to improve your odds, and you can only improve it by into maybe being out of 24 instead. It's so unreasonable to get this fucking rainpunk foundry blueprint. The worst part is that I've fucking gotten it twice. The first time was before they altered the achievement when it was get TWO specific blueprints, being both the homestead and the foundry, in one game. Utterly impossible. And the second was during the queen's hand trail, where deeds, and thus, achievments, don't fucking count. You can't actually engage with the coastal grove biome as intended. You cant strategize and think to yourself, "hhhmm, I need a fertile soil build, I should send out a food building expedition to see if I can get one". No. It's "damn I need to send out another industry building expedition" for the 200th fucking time for it to return fucking nothing but a supplier you already have a repaired one of from a glade. You also can't consistently send out expeditions unless you get luck with blueprints and have a stable source of complex food from a porridge building or the cookhouse. You realistically will only get 4 chances in a regular game on a high difficulty. In the off chance you manage to get more, it will not avail you. One game, I had a great set up and I deliberately spent more time there, refusing to let my villagers resolve get high so I can send out more. I literally sent out as many as I could before the game stopped returning blueprints as rewards (happens at the 15th or something expeditions). Didn't fucking get it.
>>537272629On top of that, I had the cornerstone that gives a random blueprint for every 5 fully upgraded frog houses. So I fully upgraded 20 fucking frog houses to get 4 extra blueprints. I had more blueprints in that settlement than I ever had before. Yet still no fucking rainpunk foundry. Fuck this game and fuck my life.

WellIve finished the adamantine seal, and thus, my current playthrough of against the stormI have achieved a 100% win rate; out of 80 settlements, I didn't lose a single one, however 4 villagers were lost during the "canon" portion of the run and another 9 on a settlement during the last cycle where I rounded out the game. Bringing my total to 13 villagers. Absolutely pathetic display desuBut I will leave it at that. I've gotten very sick of the game over the last week and I don't think I'm going to be picking it up again for a very long time. Tbh I don't know if I ever will again if there isn't another major update or dlc, which it looks like there won't be. I might play one final settlement, a training expedition on marathon mode on the bamboo flats so I can create an ultimate gigafarm. Another thing I have never done is dabble in daily expeditions, which come with their own set of unique modifiers that I have never played with, so I guess that will round out my playtime with this game to have experienced quite literally everything over my 1k plus hours, but I wont be doing that now. Trying to play an actual conquering enslaving empire in Stellaris for once and boy is it an ordeal.to wrangle these new planets. I don't have the energy cred to move around all these pops to fix stability issues and I can't abandon one useless colony because the species has fucking Nascent Stage and the game won't let me move the nascant pops for years. Also a bunch of the pops got moved to my incompatible homeworld via raiding but that's at least my fault.

any "quick" 4x games? where a game doesn't take me 15 to 25 hours to get through?

I play xenophobe for once and nine out of eleven other empires are xenophile. This has to be deliberately coded in.
>>537588421It is.
>>537588421It is.I don't remember if it was datamined or people just start games and lifted fog of war to check, but it was found out that:1) you will always start surrounded by empire that will hate you,2) you will aways have lot of empires spawning next to you, with them being spread out if they're far from you.
>>537588805>you will always start surrounded by empire that will hate you,That's not true, there's often at least one that's neutral. Being xenophobe will probably push you into being hated, but that's part of the playstyle.
>>537588805>1) you will always start surrounded by empire that will hate you, this isn't true and if it ever was, it hasn't been true for years. there is a slight bias towards xenophobe and militarist, and if you're a megacorp it's more likely to have AI megacorps

Hey civ4xg, I have this sudden urge to play something like a civ game but more autistic with stuff like detailed population numbers per city/tile, having to manage specific resources and logistics, communications etc to transport goods, people, trade and the like but within and without the empire, the more autistic shit it simulates the better say climate, soil fertility, army composition and the like, I don't care if it's a spreadsheet simulator graphics wise but I want the feeling of very detailed management of a developing civilization that is less abstracted than my usual civ games. Are there any games like this?

So far I have gotten like 6, mostly the easy ones that don't take too much effort or strategy. My bröthers I have 1325h logged in AtS. Probably a good hundred is the game still launched while I was eating lunch or something, but still. I've done something like 3 complete runs all the way through adamantine seal, not including 2 runs that were done before those updates where I just reached the end of the progression and tech treeJust a few days ago I finally got the "feeling lucky" achievement to round out my perfection of the game. Only after did I learn that there are, as of now, THIRTEEN HIDDEN DEEDS that you can try to do for cosmetic rewards. Fucking hell man. I only knew about one of them because of a devlog. After looking into them, I decided to try a few as I had 2 more days before Silksong came out (now about 10h remain). I actually managed to get about half of them, granted they were the easier half to do, but it felt pretty good, though, very sloppy. My last settlement was an attempt at "feeling very lucky" which asks you to pull both the homestead and the rainpunk foundry in one game from expeditions. This is mostly random chance, BUT there are several things you can do to improve your odds. I did virtually everything within my power to help>fucked around and stockpiled 28 reserve embarkation points to use on all the blueprints>waited until I cleared every rep reward blueprint>always chose orders that granted blueprints>waited for cornerstone rerolls yearly to try and get the smuggler or faster trader arrival, etc.>take frogs and get the zealous architects cornerstone, which grants you 4 random blueprints for 20 fully upgraded houses>bought every blueprint I could find from tradersIn the end, I managed to get the homestead and then a 1/10 chance for the foundry, which failed. There is very little I could have done very very little more to increase my odds further. Infact, this was a GOOD run with great luck up until the end. The one thing I missed out on were smuggler visits, especially the stormforged.Alas, I am 100% not enough
>>537851957achievement hunting is stupid and pointless
>>537851957Still, the deeds I did complete were>reconstruct a archeology site withing 25m (first 2 years) on p20>deplete a leviathan node in the marshlands naturally (almost got it on one run, but fucked myself over by choosing meat specialization, which increased the yield every 25. This means that the amount grew with every single harvest. By the end, the camps had pulled almost 50k (not exaggerating) meat out of the fucking thing. I ran out of patience before it was gone. Ended up depleting it properly on the next settlement, along with depleting the fungus and wheat)>finish a game with 999 salt in the warehouse (very easy. You just need Bats on the bamboo flats>win the stormant column world event without anyone experiencing hunger on p20 (also pretty easy, just embark with amber and bring in the first trader immediately. it's usually a food guy>solve 6 forbidden events in one game>attack sir renwald redmane (this mf killed 12 fucking villagers in the attack. Usually 2 or 3 die lol (you dont get any reward from this btw))So that's 6 out of 13. Not bad for a last minute attempt. Out of the remaining 7, 2 are tied to world events>pet the cat 50 times>kill 10 villagers in the forsaken gods ritual2 are not that difficult (seemingly)>win a game after harvesting 20 bloodflowers>open 2 forbidden glades in year one on the cursed royal woodlands (basically pure chance. Either in the biome with mist piercer as the first CS, or start with forbidden lands world modifer, where it's an instant get (I once almost got this as I had a spawn like that, but I didn't know about the deed then, so I did the game without opening any glades at all)
>>537853939And the last 3 are very intensive and require a ton of set up and skillful execution>aforementioned feeling extremely lucky>finish a game on p20 in 3 years or less (basically requires scarlet orchard and to rush the 3 sites while you hope you gave good glade rng and doable orders within 3 years. Possible, and I've done it before but around p12 or something, obviously much harder on p20)>finish a game on p20 without cutting down a single tree (holy shit this one sounds insane. Didnt even attempt it. This is like the true final boss of deeds. The two strategies I can forsee working are ->play on rocky ravine, use trade to constantly buy your way to food and resources. Hardly any orders will be doable, so you have to rely on resolve basically entirely>play on bamboo flats and use the starting glade to set up a farm to turn into to porridge production. Use that and trading to resolve the way to the end>both set ups would require as many supply lines as you could possibly bring and likely require atleast 2 out of 3 of Humans, Foxes, and Frogs, as porridge is the easiest complex food to make>both seem equally challenging. On rocky ravine you will probably struggle for food a lot. On the bamboo flats, the biggest issue by far will be fuel.>the one thing I'm curious on is if it only counts if YOU cut down a tree. But if you're playing with the Tree Grazer world event, maybe it doesn't count if it cuts them down? If not, you basically have free access to glades and resources, which would mean this deed is still very difficult, but no longer virtually impossible, if it's tied to this world event.... in another life ...>>537852609Anon all gaming is pointless
