Tails concludes by saying that he will continue to use his skills and do his best. I prefer the Japanese version because it's not trying to change the character. Tails doubts himself, and what reassures him is remembering who he is and what he's good at. The English version implies there is something fundamentally wrong with Tails that he needs to change, and I do not like that at all

In Battle JP, he says "defeat affects my identity". So Shadow will try to win first by himself if possible, especially since it's everyone for himself/herself with no teams in Crossworlds. However, if he had a choice between letting Sonic win or letting Rouge win, he'd obviously choose the latter. He'd feel quite satisfied seeing the look on Sonic's face.
