I think I went into it a bit last thread but I think the differences do slightly hint towards what the "normal" state of the species is like.
I imagine Meteon's 3-pointed ears with a more batlike shape are innate compared to Elfilis's having more splits and a rounder shape, but the Starries accentuated that. I think the "true" form of the brothers is probably closer to Elfilis than Meteon given what we see of Meteon's larval form within the evil meteor, mainly the fact he DOES have the whiskers, which he loses in his crystal form. I believe that the original form probably is some sort of middleground between both designs, and each one was influenced by what they absorbed (Elfilis assimilating the mammals of the Forgotten Land, leading to him looking more like one, while Meteon absorbed the Starries, making him look more alien and sleek with crystal highlights. I'm genuinely fascinated by how much is implied about the species off of the differences in the brothers alone, makes me very glad I was always vague about Elfilis being the only one of his kind or not in my writing.

Oh the ink art one from last thread was me, I do definitely plan on drawing him some more. Still very damn happy with how this one turned out too. I will say, I'm incredibly happy his general anatomy is still the same as Elfilis's, it's muscle memory for me at this point so it makes drawing Meteon way easier to learn. Horns a bastard though.

Oh yeah, funny thing about that, Chaos DOES seem to still have other creatures absorbed, he just swapped out Elfilin as a component with Morpho, note the way the animal souls show up during the death animation (picrel has the Buffahorn below him and the Gnawcodile on top), and the fact his figure description specifically says "A unique convergence of elements, from native-beast souls to ethereal butterfly", Chaos still has a lot of animals in him.

Oh yeah, fun fact about that, his name is "Genejoya" in Spanish for the "Genwel" part, so I can pretty confidently confirm that aspect is at least meant to be a combination of Gene + Jewel. As for the "Meteon" part though... It's interesting, in Japanese he's JUST "Mefirisu" as opposed to Elfilis being "Efirisu", but all translations consistently have the "meteor" implication across the board. I can only imagine it's an expansion on Elfilis's name but making it blunt he was sealed in the meteor instead of the capsule, probably to mirror the fact Elfilis's larval/chimera form is "Forgo" in reference to being sealed in the forgotten land? Food for thought.

It being gene + jewel fits but i doesn't imply anything cool, also i think that "fecto forgo" means literally "perfection forgotten/forgone" so the meteon part being direction attached in front of efilis probably implies its more like a newer species/kind because its a full "elfilis" plus powerful in their own right starries whereas fecto elfilis is just a full elfilis plus a bunch of weaker animals that could be removed and not impact much. I think thats why meteonelfilis has an extra crystal core orb that regular elfilis doesn't.

Interesting thing about Chaos Elfilis in the novel, from what I remember translating, it's framed as though Chaos is almost an anger automaton of sorts, with Elfilin saying ""The thoughts of all the living things Fecto Elfilis has devoured have become a mess. It's not even a living thing anymore, just a black mass of thought." Retroactively though, I think this is kind of confusing given how the Spears figure says Elfilis took Ares once Meteon was defeated which feels like it implies more intent. As far as I know the newer novels are supervised by Kumazaki so that slight conflict in depiction makes me wonder if it was something they decided on later. Related to that: Chaos getting access to the power of the Starries by just taking Ares is incredibly interesting to me. Also worth noting, the "Lord of Chaos" title is a bit different in other languages, being "Godlike Species of Chaos" in Japanese (fun fact, both "Godlike Species" and "New Species" are pronounced Konton Shinju, but use a different kanji for the "Shin" part, which is where the difference comes from), while in Spanish it's "Being of Chaos", and Korean has similar wordplay to Japanese, going from "New Species" to "Starry Species" with similar pronounciation but different writing.
In terms of the Meteon suffix though, I see what you mean, fair point. I do think all the different versions point towards it being specifically related to meteors though, so there's probably some implications going on there through that. I do still think it's related to where each of them was imprisoned, personally, since I feel like the name "Forgo" also has to be specifically referring to the Forgotten Land seeing as all the translations specifically tie to the word "Forgotten" specifically rather than "Forgone", i.e. in Spanish it's Olvi, in French it's Oublio, in German it's Ver'Ges. I do genuinely think it's fascinating how much insight all the different translations offer.

It's all a bit complicated and it really makes me wish we'd get an official translation for the novels, if only for the sake of clarity. Also agree on the spears, really hope maybe next game we'll get them as a callback evolution in some way.
And fair enough on the forgotten aspect, given how the series is I wouldn't be surprised if it's supposed to reference both interpretations honestly.

Hey, to be fair the FL OST is still pretty big even without the SCW tracks, and I'd definitely say having it in its cleanest quality is worth it, plus the picture frame is a really nice bonus, you can even make your own stuff for it like the 100% SCW picture And hey, for all you know that frame might become some rare stuff down the line, seeing how the prints of the puzzle artwork from the Star Allies OST's first batch have become surprisingly rare nowadays. I will say though, yeah I can understand how it'd sting getting it and having that announced so soon, in my case I got it back in December so it genuinely was the most convenient way for me to listen to the OST freely until they tossed (some) of it onto Nintendo Music. Here's hoping SCW's tracks get at least a smaller jewel case release compared to the big boxes Nintendo soundtracks usually go for.

I played it as post-game but went out of my way to only use the ability evolutions I would've had by the point in the game the levels would be as brand new unlocks and had a good time. Have a friend who's playing FL for the first time who said the Starry stages flow pretty naturally into the existing stages though, could be worth considering. It's not like the stages are these big bumps in difficulty like, say, HiAD for example.

I've had shower thoughts about what a kirby movie would be like although i have no clue on what studio or people would be suited for it.
Kirby should talk like he does in the audio CD and have similar characterization to the novels,
I think the story should be a combination of dreamland 1/spring breeze and metaknights revenge where the plot leads from dedede getting his ass beat by kirby to meta knight getting frustrated at how dreamlands laziness let dedede almost get away with it. That way you have all 4 main characters in it and have them develop their dynamics as rivals but also friends.

It has to start somewhere and instead of forcing it, he just placed him in the spot light just like everyone else for the trailer. He's only as forced as you could say Cappy is and that's the core difference, Starman is defined as cute and has a cape. Then people start looking back at his past and trophy and the whole "he could be mistaken for the hero...has the courage of one" makes him a bit more likeable especially in the wake of Superman's latest greatest movie. All factors just came together for Starman to rise into being highly likeable with very little work since he wasn't hated before and was just around. Superman ironically paved the way for Starman's big break.

Also, I'm wondering who has the longest super out of the cast we got to see. Base Kirby seemed to have one of the shortest beaten out by maybe 3 others while Starman seems close to tied with blue Kirby and Red Kirby for distance and duration. I got more Elfilis lore so that alone justifies both its price and the Switch 2 for me.
But really though I did my semi-review for it last thread, in summary I'm more than happy with it and definitely feel I got my money's worth, great new levels, amazing new fights, amazing music, very damn pretty visuals, the technical boost is very nice (though for me it's mainly 60fps, my monitor's only 1080p anyway, but the antialiasing is way nicer) and fucking incredible lore implications.

That's mostly a spin off thing, the 3rd movie really doesn't even bring it up. It's not a terrible idea since knuckles has flame in his history and it makes more sense to associate something called the flames of disaster with the red guy who actually uses fire since Sonic made far less sense even when it was Silver being gaslit. More over the show never actually ends up saying the name Iblis for the thing he killed, only that in killing it he got the flames of disaster(just flaming fists, it really didn't actually do too much else)

The colors came out a bit fucked on mine but I think my printer's kinda running out of ink so I'll blame that. What would Friend starman look like since Star allies says most characters get their ability hats when Kirby befriends them. Would he get an extra cape since kirby's hat gives him one or would it just be the wings?

It would have to be someone from 64, though. That's the one game Sakurai has gone on record stating he avoided playing, and the mainline Kirby game that got scammed in Ultimate the hardest. No other inclusion would really be able to emulate that sense of an impossible comeback.
And that's assuming he'll actually bite the bullet with 64 this time, which is completely uncertain.

considering air ride had 64 songs i don't think that claim has too much to back it up unless you have a source but if it is true then it wouldn't make much sense from most angles.

>too many humanoids? maybe, but the fairies only provide a basic plot and only ribbon shows up much and ado was already slightly prominent in 3 with the credits pictures

at best i can maybe see him being cautious due to 64's troubled development, but unless there's backup to this claim (which can be difficult, i know a few other anecdotes from interviews that can only really be found by people bringing it up after the fact, especially if the initial interview is in japanese) then it just feels a bit baseless and possibly made up to stoke the fire of sakurai's biases to his games.
