But if we want to talk about of all time, I've replayed kotor1 and kotor2 many times, and no list of best crpg's would be complete without ps:t and vtmb, both of which were also influential for me in my childhood. I have thousands of hours in the Fallout franchise between the 6 games, and I wouldn't want to leave Divinity out of the list either. I love so many it's hard to choose. Honestly, I think people don't mention Arcanum enough here, that game has tons of humor and solid writing and I love the setting.1. I'll say Rogue Trader because I'm a huge 40k nerd that has been playing the tabletop rpg's and wargame for many years so I'm really stoked that game exists, and tactical turn based is my favorite type of gameplay.2. I'll cheat and combine kotor1+kotor2 together. The music for these games is absolutely stellar, and their exploration of the star wars universe that I've loved since I was a kid is really enjoyable. The gameplay is somewhat simple and even on the hardest difficulty you breeze through as long as you build well, but I love these games more for music and story and character reasons. Atmosphere.3. Planescape Torment. I don't really like the gameplay of this game very much and replaying it recently made it feel dated, but this game proved that videogames can have good writing and it proved that videogames as a medium can be art, and the writing and what it asks of the player to consider is higher than most videogames before or since.

However there are two glaring flaws:1. Its obviously made by someone who loved HoMM2 or 3 but was told to dumb it down and simplify it so plebs can understand it. It would have been better had they leaned into it further and actually made a proper HoMM clone.2. Nowhere does the game show that its shitty Unity jank more than when you hit act 3 and get the "full" experience. Loading screens between literally everything, and this is exacerbated by the fact that almost everything you do in the first half of act 3 only takes a minute or two. Every minute at least, you're literally on a 5-10 sec load screen. Citadel meeting, load screen, campaign map, load screen, settlement building, load screen, army battle on campaign map, load screen, travel to next quest and have random encounter, load screen. There's only a couple areas where you get to have a nice, longer dungeon crawl or adventure (come to think of it, its only Wintersun, Ivory Sanctum, Areelu's Lab, and maybe Blackwater if you're a hardcore masochist). Unfortunately everything about the early game, act 1 + 2 is merely a tutorial to prepare you for you act 3, so its largely the same. I've rerun act 1 so many times its muscle memory at this point, but at least Gray Garrison is always fun. City Square also feels pretty good to go through and clear. Act 2 has Lost Chapel which is a lot of fun, and of course the Drezen siege, almost everything else is the same shitty 1 minute side area.

I like the vibe of Kingmaker. What I don't like compared to Wrath is to play on higher difficulties you have to engage in disgusting 3e multi-class degeneracy, so I don't do so. In Wrath, Mythics made single class very strong.
