The only time you have to actively steer Shart towards picking a better path for herself is in act 3 and only if you had her kill Nightsong and she's on the Dark Justiciar path. She can still pull of a last minute redemption but only if you activated specific flags for her. If you don't then you have to pass a pretty high persuasion check.

If you find yourself with a shart you don't want, simply return to the nearest Shar cloister and return it. They won't be able to exchange it for a better shart but you'll get shar credit you can cash in for some cannon fodder later.

I doubt picking a half-elf is going to budge your DPR that much. You get access to Booming Blade, big deal. Hmmm, I've been enjoying my current tactician enhanced+extra action enemies+randomized loot playthrough, it's more satisfying difficulty and the new items have been a blast, but I realize I haven't done a true solo playthrough yet. CON should be 14 at a minimum, and not an odd score. DEX is 10 for no reason, even though it is one of the most important stats in BG3 with Initiative being a d4 roll. The anons who recommended Alert or War Caster to you are right, but only because your stat spread is so awful to begin with. My suggestion would be a 10/14/15/8/16/12 spread, then grab Resilient: CON to round up your CON score. Or 10/14/14/10/16/12 if you're grabbing ASI.

In general, people go through storylines. So a tsundere like Roland usually learns to open the fuck up. If you start with happy shit, it usually ends up with sad shit especially families. Starting with a family is usually going to hold the relevant characters back in their character arc so they normally all die tragically. Whereas if you have no family to begin with or it's not ideal there's still room for the plot to move. When you see enough of these stories you will see that they nearly all go the same way.
