Some early lower priority camp scenes can also be missed if higher priority ones are queued. To advance companion quests or romances, make sure to long rest often.>Q: Can I recruit Minthara without going down the evil path?>A: If you knock her out in Act 1, yes. You do miss out on the sex scene, but otherwise the romance remains the same.>Q: Underdark or Mountain Pass?>A: Either, or both. It's recommended to clear both on higher difficulties for the experience and loot. Both connect to the same Act 2 map.>Q: Is The Dark Urge essentially "Tav+"?>A: Yes. You get additional content, BUT there are points where, if you've chosen to resist the Urge and/or don't complete quests the "right" way, you'll have to pass additional checks to avoid losing companions.>Q: Are there any consequences to consuming tadpoles?>A: No, for the most part. However if you've consumed any tadpoles, there will later be a DC 21 Wisdom check to reject the Astral-Touched Tadpole, which affects your appearance if consumed.>Q: Should I enable Karmic Dice?>A: Karmic Dice will avoid streaks of low rolls, both for you and the enemy. It is recommended to disable it if you're specializing.>Polls:>Romance: https://strawpoll.com/NMnQ5kJXYn6>Race: https://strawpoll.com/kjn18WPzeyQ>Class: https://strawpoll.com/eNg69DKKjnA>Companions: https://strawpoll.com/bVg8o8l3VnYOP pasta: https://rentry.org/bggpastaPrevious thread: >>538451132

"With a torch, you can go anywhere you want" he said to himself, out loud.
there's an imposter among us
Mizora should have been a party member instead of wyll
>>538622006Nah, there should have been an evil path with evil exclusive companion characters including Mizora.
>>538622735Players would complain until Mizora was added to the good playthrough, as happened with Minthara.
You know what I haven't seen yet? A Swen build. Too bad none of the Paladin subclasses really feel suitable for him. Plate is Heavy Armor so the only alternative is Fighter but the options might be even worse there. Probably Battle Master is the only one that could be in the conversation if you squint hard enough.
>>538623406The biggest reason they'd have to do this though is because they put fuck all content into evil playthroughs because all the early access faggots were playing heckin good playthroughs
>>538623406>>538624435If there's anything I hate about Larian is that they bend over to the masses way too easily. This is not being pro-customer just lacking a spine in general. They should have just stuck to the half of the companions is evil, half is good concept and call it a day. Hecking good playthroughs will always outnumber evil ones for various reasons, one of them is that it's rarely supported in the first place. Where could you expect a such thing if not in an RPG that cost like a quarter billion?
Missionary with Astarion
>>538625438a better posischun
>>538625374It's more just a problem with management, early access should be for fixing bugs and smoothing out the performance for the game. It shouldn't have any effect on the plot because the number of people playing early access doesn't represent the demographics of everyone else who will be playing it on release, it was such a fucking stupid decision.
>>538626865EA is a plague to developers like Larian as they interpret feedback during that phase as "making the game better". And we know the head honcho's stance on the question, right? In reality they're just letting a vocal minority who's already in their pockets hijacking the game, resulting a product that comes with the said EA players flavoring for the rest of the world. BG3 would have benefited a lot from only seeing the light of day as a retail release. Especially that all that money could've bought them the best Q&A team the industry has to offer.

>>538633139>dex 8if you are roleplaying yourself your int should be 8 too
>>538633776Why do you have to be mean, anon? Is this how you get dopamine?
>>538625374>They should have just stuck to the half of the companions is evil, half is good conceptOf the six non-Dark Urge origins, three are good-aligned - Gale, Karlach, and the non-character - and three are evil-aligned (though I prefer the term "morally gray") - Astarion, Lae'zel, and Shadowheart. Gale technically leans more toward neutral, but if you count him as good-aligned for simplicity's sake, the cast is evenly split so far. The good-aligned later gain Jaheira in Act 2, since no one is really using the sex pest instead of her, and Minsc is only recruitable when the game is almost over, so he doesn't really count. The "morally gray" gain Minthara, in Act 2 as well. These eight companions are the ones used by the overwhelming majority.
>>538633139Problem is that even the most Multiple Ability Dependent (MAD) classes feature DEX as one of their component. Literally each and every one of them. That's how important DEX is in 5e. Rolling with it is a brave decisions and the negative effects of a low DEX can be mitigated to a degree but not without further investments. The other issue is that no class uses WIS and INT together, not even as a primary/secondary formation. Sure, having both means you'll be a wonderful skill mule as they govern 10 skills together and almost all of them are used for checks in the regular but that's not really what you want from the protagonist. So that's why it's hard to recommend any class for that ability distribution. There's not a single one that's mechanically coherent and have a synergy with CON/INT/WIS at the same time. But if you're a bit more flexible and switch that INT to DEX you have Monk. Or if you turn that INT and WIS to STR and DEX a Barbarian. Or a Fighter, even if it's possible to dump STR for them with specific builds. Do you want to stick to your original plan no matter what?
THRUSTING LOCATED HNNNGGGGG
Why don't magic initiate feats use your own character's spellcasting stat? They use the stat of the initiates class instead. Frustrating.
>>538633139Congratulations, you've unlocked the hidden Life Cleric/Wizard support bot. You can heal and buff allies through Disciple of Life and Preserve Life, and also use your Reaction to Ward them and reduce incoming damage. You can cast buffs like Shield of Faith on the Fighter, and Mage Armor on the Rogue. You can alternatively concentrate on Spirit Guardians and throw Fireballs. Your DEX score is a meme that needs Alert as a band-aid, but you could technically make it work.

Well they all share a similar bone structure
>>538641468Here's a recent example, from a couple of days ago.>To be fair..the only positive representation of a family in this game is Jaheira's, and even they have problems.>The other example is with Rolan and his adoptive siblings.I guess Arabella's parents being worried to death when she's held captive doesn't count. I guess Selûne weeping for her divine daughter when she is murdered doesn't count, because that's just a background event you can't screenshot. I guess Shadowheart's parents enduring decades of torture, and Shadowheart's willingness to endure a lifetime of chronic pain if it means she can have her parents back, both don't count as "positive representation." How quick the pig is to dismiss familial love as long as it suits its low-INT narrative that the writers hate their parents and want to portray familial bonds as awful and abusive. Beyond the grammatical mistakes and porcine "lexical choices," this is what the swine really is. A genuinely stupid fuck.

>>538642846Is this some...actual game discussion?I never really thought about Arabella's parents, you're right: they're loving and caring and it's very sad to find her Dad in Act 2, truly an heartbreaking moment.Shar, well..she's a goddess, I can't really relate to these kind of 'feelings', and considering Aylin's presonality I can't picture Shar as a complete calm and quiet divinity even if that's her whole personality, but that's just me: some Gods have more screen time and I think of Shar as a little "Lunatic", eheh. And we've have already talked about Shadowheart's parents!Anyway we can summarize it in the general concept of "tyranny versus freedom", but from the very beginning of the game, starting with the "Build your own GUARDIAN" moment, there are constant conflicts between "parental" figures (be they religious, military, political, etc.) and their lesser counterparts.
>
>>538645142I don't the dream guardian is meant to be a guardian in the sense of a potential figure. The fact that they're always in plate armor, are intended to be considered attractive to a degree, and present themself as a peer (describing themself as an adventurer who got tadpoled and desire freedom just like you) rather than a superior or an authority suggests that they meant guardian as in "someone who guards something" (i.e. (You)).
>I guess I've been wrong then, I just missed some of the most prominent and in-your-face examples of familial love>I guess I've been wrong then, I just hallucinated that Mystra only starts to show interest in Gale after he got the orb>I guess I've been wrong then, I just headcanon that the writers wrote abusive parental figures because they hate mommy and daddy>I guess I've been wrong then, I just think Astarion is just dissociating in the brothel for no reason whatsoeverThere is no game discussion between human beings and pigs. There is a species barrier.
Why does Mol disappear in photomode? Just wanted a pic of her next to 'Lach.
>>538645964My point is that the game features many figures who appear authoritative and worthy of respect, only to later reveal themselves to be deceptive and not entirely transparent in their intentions to the point of becoming manipulative and harmful to the people they are supposed to "lead", but yes I agree: the Guardian/Emperor is definitely not a "parental" figure.
>>538645964>I don't [think] the dream guardian is meant to be a guardian in the sense of a potential figure. But... it's in the name? The entity is named "guardian," so it must be like some kind of parental figure? At least, that's what my dictionary tells me. Dear Mintharafag, there is no language barrier.

If you see similarities with current governments, it's because it's a story as old as time itself...>>538646697The word 'guardian' is not etymologically related to the concept of "adjacent parental figure" in my language, so once again your bitter sentiment is misplaced. :( Talk about the game!
>>538648958It's all dex, likely because aiming is seen as a dex quality, even if in reality bows are more like a quality weapon than either/or.

>>538646853The creature can barely string together a coherent sentence. Don't expect too much of it.>"parental" figures (be they religious, military, political, etc.)So you see, in the pig's mind, Gortash was like a "political" daddy to Karlach. And Mystra was like a "religious" mommy to Gale, making her relationship with him guilty of both transgression and incest. Anyway, this is all on the writers' mommy and daddy issues. >>538659068To be fair, the HP bloat post 2e AD&D has seen to it that everyone doing a martial will go for the biggest weapon possible if only to cut back on shaving down the enemies a few HP at a time.
>>538656429This has highlighted an issue I have with the gear in BG3. There is plenty of generic chest pieces (your various +1 padded armors, +2 splint armor, etc) but nothing for gloves or feet. Nothing that increases AC or movement speed. Some generic headwear grants things like DEX saving throws +1 or CON saving throws +1, but that's it.Why does this game treat gear this way?
>>538658394GWF only adds 1.33... (repeating, of course) average damage when using a greatsword. The way it's coded in BG3 means you could realistically bump that number to 2 or 2.5 damage, which is alright, but doesn't make it a clearly superior option compared to the alternatives. Dueling's +2 damage allows sword-and-board to remain competitive while still benefiting from a shield, and Defense's +1 AC is generically good.

>>538660686light helmets tend to give dex saves, medium helmets tend to give con saves, and medium gloves tend to give str saves. These are small little buffs but they help. There's a glut of magical items in the game that do accomplish what you said you desire. I wasn't really hurting for items to put in every slot, except maybe the cape slot. If you have magical items that do accomplish everything, then it doesn't really matter that non-magical items don't do very much, since they are just a stop-gap to use while you find better stuff. They're supposed to be pretty basic so you experience the player-progression of finding better magical gear. I think it's one of the fun parts of the game, gear progression is super important. So there has to be "starting gear".

>>538663060lame!
>>538661060GWM is mathematically very strong, but if we're going to be fair, the game doesn't "funnel" you toward it or two-handed weapons. If anything, it's the opposite. Sword-and-board remains competitive - if not superior - for classes like Paladin and Rogue because Savage Attacker is so buffed in BG3. Dual-wielding is competitive simply due to the sheer number of weapon options - plus you can't beat the aesthetic. And GWM's +10 flat damage isn't doubled on critical hits, so the more you rely on critical hits, the less valuable +10 flat damage becomes.

>>538642496neil is hot but astarion is hotter
>>538667678I didn't misunderstand, and your pointless hostility is unwarranted. In fact I directly addressed your question by explaining why generic gear doesn't do very much. Generic non-magical gear is not very impressive by design, because gear progression is an important part of cprg's, as it is in mmorpg's and arpg's as well. The magical gear you complete a quest or explore a dangerous area to acquire has to be meaningfully more fun and/or mechanically superior to what you start with. The medium armor gloves you find laying in a cart in the grove only give a small +1 to str saves because it is generic non-magical gear that the player finds for free, and that is by design because the gloves you get as a reward for helping the teiflings do something powerful and you want that meaningful gear progression. If the free gloves you found on the ground already did something cool and special or already gave you meaningful stat increases like AC, then your quest reward or exploration reward isn't meaningful. The game does contain gloves, boots, and hats that do powerful things including but not limited to increasing movespeed and increasing AC, but those effects are attached to quest and exploration rewards.Gear progression is a pillar of game design and I am happy to discuss it and answer questions but you having a catty high school passive aggressive attitude about it makes absolutely no sense. >>538666145There is no need to be rude.
>>538668241Most events are random, but sometimes one companion will have priority in specific scenes.

Sigh...time to play the game, I guess.
>>538669280it wasn't my question to begin with. the anon complained about generic gear then you went HOLD UP there are magical items here's where to find them. you misunderstood. btw yes, a heavy ass metal helmet should increase AC at least by one. its unrealistic that a helmet isn't contributing to your defense at all. helmets don't have to be unique or magical to protect your head
>>538668241>>538668576That's my experience as well. Though I'm not sure about the completely part. It should be that way but I often felt a preferred option exists. Obviously anecdotal but I had Karlach commenting on the pile of dead gnomes in the Grymforge after the duergar left first. It took me 23 reloads to get that interaction again. Yes, I counted it. >>538669794The Evasive Shoes increase your AC by 1. They are found on one vendor in the game, one that can die in act 1 and thus potentially never show up if you don't do a certain save the tieflings questline, and cost about 2000 gold depending on your character's stats. So if an item is hidden behind completing a quest, and costs a noble's ransom in gold, and all it does is increase your AC by 1, why do you think generic gear that you find for free on the ground in the grove at level 2 should do the same thing? You are mistaken as to what generic gear "should do".I'm happy to copy and paste the paragraph about gear progression to answer that question. Again.>well if the generic gear gives +1 ac, then the magical expensive shoes should give +2That steps on the identity of shields, and people who have shields and the shoes would have +4 ac at a point in the game where things are balanced around certain AC values. This question would bring us to the topic of "bounded accuracy" and the average values of what players and adversary npc's are expected to hit and how difficult it is to hit them. Contrary to what some people like to say, there are actually lots of mathematical considerations to make when designing encounters and designing gear progression in dnd, and there are certain expectations for each level, or in this game, you would say roughly each act. In other words, the encounter designers expect a certain AC for the players to have in the creche, and that is different from what they expect you to have at the city sewers. Everyone throwing around +1's on generic cgear and that inflating magical gear to have +2's and +3's to compensate for the fact that generics give +1 now throws all of that off. The entire system would have to shift to accommodate the inflation. In summary, it's actually proper game design to have unimpressive starting gear that upgrades as you are rewarded for completing quests and exploring, and there's actually a lot of math in why.
Is it cringe/cheating to start the game as one class/stats that is strong in the early levels then respec into another class who is strong in higher levels later after you levelup?

Female fans (henceforth referred to as "sisters") of Astarion, the vampire spawn of Baldur's Gate 3, often share ritualistic posts on 4chan such as "Missionary with Astarion" or "Making dhampir babies with Astarion." Sisters also often share pictures of Astarion shirtless, clad in some fetishistic leather that leaves his chest bare, or fully naked - to the point where normal clothing would signal that the poster is likely a tourist. The overtly sexual nature of these posts is not accidental. Although some sisters prefer a more tender approach, such as giving him affectionate nicknames ("Pookie" or "precious baby") or fantasizing about cuddling with him and stroking his hair, the undercurrent of sexualization is never far away. Likewise, the apparent sisters' preference for the confident and dominant Ascendant Astarion over his meeker spawn counterpart is not surprising. Ascendant Astarion plays to the sexist stereotype of masculinity - the macho idea of how a real man should be and how close a leash he should keep on his woman. A man should not show vulnerability. A man should be sexually dominant. Astarion becomes, through the daily repetition of such posts, and in the Welchian sense, a sex object. Reduced to a perfectly sculpted body, devoid of imperfection and eternally young. Critics have long praised Astarion for his nuanced and layered characterization, but all of that is flushed down the drain once he ascends. Vampire portrayal in fiction has a long history of intertwining forbidden danger and eroticism, but that alone cannot explain the heights of "Astarion posting" that eclipse the sexualization of popular female characters in the game, indeed of other sexy vampire characters that came before. Call it the ASS (Astarion Sexualization Syndrome), if you will. Astarion unfortunately epitomizes the sexual commodification of characters who were meant to be more than sex objects, from the thousands of smut works on Archive of Our Own to the dark corners of 4chan.

>>538675396Honestly I think it's pretty weird how a lot of the most vocal AA critics seem to have more of an issue with how it affects Astarion (e.g. "he becomes another Cazador", "he's abusive towards his romance partner", etc.) rather than the fact that the act of ascending is absurdly evil. I wonder if those sorts of people would be ok with the insanely evil ritual if his personality didn't change as a result.

>Casting a high-level concentration spell, then immediately overwriting it with BlessI'm still doing it bros.
>>538682938Multiclassing is easy in BG3. There are no ability score requirements. You have a level cap of 12, so you can often split it 6/6. Almost every class gets a relevant feature then - martials get Extra Attack at level 5, Paladins get their Aura of Protection at level 6, Clerics get their second Channel Divinity charge and their subclass feature at level 6, etc. The more difficult question is whether you're achieving something meaningfully stronger than a humble Fighter 12, with their 3 attacks per round and 4 feats. If you just want to roleplay a character concept, then that doesn't matter.
>>538682938Just like many other aspects of the game multi-classing is all about synergy. Well, that and potentially having a bigger bag of tools. Why do people get 3 levels of Rogue to their Monk? Because one of the main attractions of Monk is the extra Unarmed Attack with a Bonus Action. The 3 level of Rogue needs you to unlock the Thief subclass. Why? Because Thief grants you an additional Bonus Action, or in this context another Unarmed Attack each round. This was as bare-bones as it gets on purpose but hopefully you get the idea. In reality that Rogue dip also adds a couple of useful things (Expertise, Sneak Attacks, Cunning Actions) that comes handy to a Monk as well, so overall it's a well-worth investment due to the high level of synergy that empowers the build better than just another 3 levels of Monk.

multiclassing sorcerer and wizard, which stat determines the effectiveness of the spell, INT or CHA?
>>538686336yes
>>538686336For class spells, then it is the Spellmodifier of the class, ie wizard levels up chromatic orb on level 1, it uses INT, sorcerer levelup chromatic orb on level 1, it uses CHARHowever, Larian did not enough budget to properly implement multiclassing in the game, so its broken; for everything else that is not a class spell, IE scrolls and equipment spells, then it uses the spellmodifier of the LAST class you took. Even some class spells suffer from this: If you take Chain Lightning as a sorcerer, but your last class was Wizard, then Chain Lightning will use INT for its chain, which makes it much worse. Therefore, as a spellcaster multiclass, you should pick your best spellcasting class last, or else it will use the shitty modifier for a lot of casts

It displays a profound misunderstanding of what bonuses non-magical equipment should provide, and of the AC inflation Mintharafag speaks of. 5E is far from a perfect system, but those putting forth these suggestions know nothing of game design or balance.
>>538717649Practically all AC is derived from body armor. If Larian slightly lowered body armor AC to allow for AC from other equipment pieces, the issue would be resolved completely.
>>538717649>player NOT wearing a helmet has exact same armor class as someone wearing a helmet>this is good game design and mintharafag is right..........
>>538718850>cloak that adds 1AC..............>helmet that adds 1ACIT'S BREAKING THE HECKING GAME
>>538718135>Practically all AC is derived from body armor.Yes, by design. This is how it works in tabletop as well and is not a Larian quirk. There are already baselines of expected AC for light armor, medium armor, and heavy armor users. Splitting 1 AC off the chest piece onto the helmet changes nothing in practice, except for that awkward phase where one of your characters lacks a nondescript, non-magical helmet and is now less effective for no apparent reason. AC already abstracts that, so there's no need to change anything. Similarly, boots should not provide movement speed bonuses (unless they're magical), as that devalues the movement speed bonus/penalty of different races.>>538718850Bounded Accuracy, the term that Mintharafag mentioned, is an actual core design principle of 5E. It intentionally limits the scaling of bonuses (to attack rolls, saving throws, AC, etc.) that players and monsters get. This ensures that even low-level enemies can remain threatening to high-level PCs in sufficient numbers, which is in line with the "realism" you value so much. The system is not designed to handle further granularity, and in fact actively seeks to avoid it. Don't like it? Go play Pathfinder with its monsters having inflated AC in the 40s or 50s - see if you like it more. You'll find quickly enough that bloat does not often lead to a better, more meaningful system.

I'm going to be honest with you bros I just can't bring myself to like Karlach. I like her design, but every time she opens her mouth I roll my eyes at whatever retarded shit she spews. She also feels like some self insert. Tragic backstory and someone who fought in a war against her will yet she still has a super positive outlook on life, every companion automatically loves her even Laezel and Minthara, has an "incurable" problem even though there's about a hundred things in this setting that can easily fix her.
Since there'll one day be BG4, what's the canon ending they're going with?Tav was killed by Dark Urge in a comic so the protagonist will either be one of the origin companions or Durge, and they will not go with Bhaal/Domination endings because the Sword Coast should be intact, but is it going to be a regular good party ending or will Dark Urge commit sudoku or piss himself and try to murder the party?
>>538728630they don't have to do a direct sequel
>>538728707It's more likely than a prequel or a sidequel since Forgotten Realms has an advancing timeline. One big question is whether Orpheus gets out since a githyanki civil war has lore implications. >>538733229Speaking of Orin, perhaps they reveal that she too was impregnated by Sarevok and the baby is a grown up Bhaalspawn in the next game.
>>538717649Not to be rude but you’re kinda retarded. I can't imagine there's going to be many connecting threads between unique BG3 characters and BG4. >>538728292Yup, she's awful. Peak millennial writing.
>>538733738>It’s +1 to movement speed(on a common item)+1 meter is significant when humanoids start with a baseline of 9 meters per turn. This +1 becomes +2 when dashing and +4 when dashing and hasted, which, amusingly enough, starts to strain realism once again. You're saying that a common pickpocket, wearing these "common" shoes should be able to dash for 20 meters per turn and easily evade the city watch.>And it requires you sacrifice the entire boot slot for +1 to movement. Great opportunity cost. By "sacrificing" the boots slot, my level 1 Ranger with Longstrider can now endlessly and effortlessly kite more than half of the bestiary. That doesn't sound too balanced to me. Sounds like it should be a magical item.>the races aren’t created equal btw...which is exactly why the gap between a halfling and a human, or between a human and a wood elf, shouldn't be so conveniently bridged by a "common" non-magical item. It cheapens the few remaining racial differences that still exist before everything is homogenized, and the only remaining differences are cosmetic.>This means nothingIt means you're playing a system that is already fine-tuned with a low granularity which is by design. Is that system the holy grail that can never be improved upon? No. Pathfinder players will disagree, and so will Path of Exile players. But this is 5E, and you don't get to upend the balance because you want to tweak "common" non-magical items.
>>538651034>>538736104Every time a companions joins to the party their XP gets adjusted to Tav's, who (outside of exceptional cases) should have the most anyway of the roster. >>538744060So you have less proof of this companion's entire ending than proof that anyone can easily find that Minsc was planned to have a romance? I'm not going to believe that all the scenes about Karlach coming to terms with her fate were just a coincidence and she'd actually have a perfectly happy ending because you handed someone some more infernal iron because you said "trust me bro"Also, what fucking connection does Karlach have to the upper city? She actively states that she's from the outer city and she's barely been to the upper city, how the fuck does she have more connection to it than Wyll who grew up there?
>>538744936>I'm not going to believe that all the scenes about Karlach coming to terms with her fatethat's her bad ending>Also, what fucking connection does Karlach have to the upper city? gortash, his HQ is stated to be there to this day

>>538744936>>538745128From what I read in interviews, Karlach was mostly written in near the end of development. All of her voice lines were recorded in six months IIRC. The idea of fixing her heart may have floated around but nothing was ever written. Honestly, her storyline feels a bit rushed and barebones. At least they gave her a proper ending in the epilogue.
>>538744204Of course! BG3 is already one of those fan beloved titles, already a cult classic few years after its release.Took the industry by storm, and reignited the love for RGPs with a solid formula. Memorable characters, awesome soundtrack and lots of replay possibilites. And the modding community created many mods so the experience is always fresh and different.>>538745534>>538745220For the past 20 years, every Bethesda release has been received like this:>"OK cool Todd, now let us fix that for you"

>>538745128>that's her bad endingWhy would she be in her bad ending in acts one and two, where the idea of her dying gets set up? Why would her biggest emotional scene, which presents her as someone who finally realizes she's inevitably dying, be part of a bad ending while her good ending would have nothing bad happen to her? Why would her bad ending just be "she dies lol" instead of losing herself to power like every other origin character?>>538745575I'm not a huge fan of Karlach because she feels a bit like the writers REALLY wanted to make sure that you felt bad for her super tragic fate but I am interested in video game cut content so seeing people make shit up and insist it's cut content annoys me.
>>538744204By boomers? Sure, if they haven't died of a heart attack by then.By zoomers and attention whores like the pig? No.There is a disconnect between a generation that grew up on few but unifying cultural phenomena, and can value a work that they recognize as ultimately rare, and one that only co-opts these cultural phenomena that existed before their generation to sound cooler than their peers. One musical artist, one movie, or one video game in a niche genre could easily define a generation back then. But in the era of Spotify, Netflix, Steam, and viral content, BG3 is just another good game from that one year that the zoomers will forget or have already forgotten. Everything is ephemeral to the zoomer - BG3 can only be the "Lord of the Rings movies of video games" for a short period... "for now." The zoomer lacks even the knowledge of BG1 and BG2 to compare BG3 to.
>>538745976Samantha Beart definitely said she voiced everything in 6 months. She said she started working on BG3 in December 2022 and finished in June 2023. She also said the character underwent some rewrites even during that small period

>>538801913Take into account almost every NPC interaction has enough dialogue lines that'd be enough for multiple ones in other RPGs. Not because BG3 is so verbose but due to the number of variables that might be involved. This is mostly apparent if you make use of your 4-men party and actually talk to NPCs with them. Yes, class and racial tags appear quite often but you also have things like Speak with Animals for basically every single such creature in game. Most of them get a dialogue tree that can only be accessed if you have that condition, then there's an alternative one for those who's not messing with SwA. This often involves Animal Handling checks as an attempt to replicate (some of the) SwA actions, which leads to other dialogue branches. All I'm saying is context is important here, BG3 is pretty atypical in terms of dialogue. Even stats like >>538790159 can be misleading as Githyanki tags tend to be very concentrated in my experience. Obviously places like the Créche is filled to the brim with them, then you have some of Lae'zel's content and the certain story bits revolving around the Astral Prism. So while the numbers are what they are, it's not like Githyanki were so incredibly heavily favored by the devs in general throughout the game. The bulk of that huge difference between #1 and #2 is story elements that you're going to see anyway, except playing a Githyanki yourself could add another dimension to it through race-exclusive dialogues.
>>538801913Going through my copy of the dialogue files, approximately 5893 of those were PBs, ADs, PADs, VBs, avatar or orphaned origin moments, or behaviors, nearly all of which would not have any reason to expect reactivity from
>>538791053>>538790914You don't need to START in a BG3 dream to get a BG3 dream. If you are awake enough to remember the dream, you are awake enough to turn it into a lucid dream in nearly every case. Pay careful attention to your surroundings. Is anything off? How did you get there? This way you can get way more dreams you actually want because literally any dream can be turned into a dream you want. You don't need to wait for the right dream to appear. Nightmares are the easiest to turn because you are usually super aware in themOnce you notice it's a dream, you can quite literally do anything because remember it's literally all in your mind, you are your mind and therefore you are God. Eg:1) You are in some other dream (doesn't matter what) and realise it's a dream.2) Use a portal. This can be anything, a doorway, a staircase, a literal portal, a mirror if you want to look cool, reflective water, etc. Doorways are the easiest for newbies3) Visualise who you want to meet and where they are. (you can also include WHEN)4) Step through and you will be where you want to be as long as you subconsciously expect itPractical example: 1) I'm in an airport2) I climb through a stone archway & visualise Raphael and the House of Hope on the other side 3) a pissed off Raphael quite literally materialises into existence in his own home that I've just appeared in.4) a new plot beginsYou can also force everyone in a dream to change and the setting to change, but I find that it's cleaner just to start over.

bg4 is going to be worse than bg3 and it's going to prove that bg3's success was due to larian, not wotc or dnd. In particular, Borislav Slavov and the sound design crew. It's going to be the first major game made by wotc's in-house game development studio, which is staffed by various industry veterans who have good games to their names, but from over a decade ago and now they are just going through the motions so the game will lack soul. Basically bioware. It will have "epic fantasy music", but nothing compared to Borislav's work. It will have romances, but nothing as well written as Astarion or Minthara. It will be a sanitized corporate ensemble with wotc's political agenda seal of approval because they will be directly overseeing it unlike Larian which is a freelance contractor. It's still going to be a "good game" because it's still going to be a turn based epic fantasy game with a high budget and lots of effort, but it's going to have less soul.

>>538836668>bg3's success was due to larian, not wotc or dnd. This isn't quite accurate. BG3's success was due to a combination of Larian's experience and D&D's appeal. Not a single sane person would give credit to WotC for that one. Remove one part of the equation, however, and you lose a significant part of the audience. I doubt Larian's next title will be as popular, regardless of quality, for the same reason no one is really excited for BG4.

I love my wife Minthy. I always give her the best armor, the best weapons, the best shield, the best rings/gloves/etc, I always give her the strength elixir, and I always make sure she lands the last hit on Orin so she can savor her death. I love taking care of her and pampering her and the fact that this game has a pair of rings that bond you and your waifu is just one more drop of kino in the ocean. The fact that you actually get a happy ending with the evil drow is something NWN and BG2 both chickened out of (Nathyra isn't even evil, and Viconia dies in her romance ending).luv Larian.luv bg3but most of all,luv Minthy.Simple as.

>>538867814no its the fact that its voiced
>>538866007I tried that once, but it gave me one of the short races and I just cannot bring myself to play as a shortstack. They're just so gross.
