They allow you to play some Archetypes without spending half your points pathing across the tree to the specific notable cluster that has something you need, masteries instead let you pick from a list of benefits for finishing a cluster (which also rewards you for finishing clusters instead of just pathing to more jewels) and there's further depth from stuff like runegrafts that can replace a mastery with a different effect. The PoE2 tree is designed to look open but is actually 10x as restrictive as the PoE1 tee. There is SO much pathing needed to do anything but play your starting class's designated area of the tree, and there's no central Scion area through the tree either so cross-class pathing is even more punished. The reason everybody is playing Deadeye instead of just everyone taking the movespeed nodes is that to actually reach them as warrior is basically impossible. You can at most go one class's area over, which is why Witch and Ranger/Huntress both pretty much always go over to the Monk starting area for all the busted overvalued shit it has easy access to while also being the best way to get Crit.

There's plenty of room for experimentation but for your first character you're just trying to comfortably get to acts and learn the game. 2 has a very nice feature where you can hold alt and hover over most keywords to see a very detailed rundown of what they do exception: "more/less" are flat addition/subtraction which means they're much more impactful than "increased/decreased" and if you just do that and ask questions when you're confused you'll be fine.

There's a growing disconnect between mapping and bossing in poe 2 and it's going to explode in GGG's faces. In the process of pushing defences, mitigation and/or damage to stop dying in maps, by the time you've got a build that can run T16s consistently you've already outpaced any single pinnacle content in the entire game to the point where the bosses are just jokes. They tried so hard to balance recovery and defenses around dark souls bosses but 90% of the time it's just poe mapping, 400 life regen in a boss fight is awesome but it's completely retarded to think that's gonna keep you alive in any map; jump into an abyss mosh pit and see how fast you die, and all your t1 regen affixes in every piece of gear will start looking like flavor text. This is just an example, the game is littered with stuff like this, and all the shittiest ascendancies are filled with similar bespoke mechanics that they tested in an empty arena but didn't think for 2 seconds about what they do in a juiced red map. Something's going to give, sooner rather than later.

I used a pearlescent amulet in the recombinator.You can get the pearlescent amulet as the result. Unfortunately the ilvl is hardcapped at 46. Unlike a normal recombination, the ilvl does not get averaged if the pearlescent is the result. I haven't tried getting the ilvl below 46 for a tri element twink necklace, but I doubt it works.
