>>539363506I tried it, but I don't think it's for me. Did the first tower with a guide, did the mini tower by myself, but anything else was just too stressful. I took one look at the beach level and just turned the game off.

First carrot harvest gave me a full stack of the fuckers, and I've got a bronze anvil cooking. Life's good.>>539366949That alone is half the stress. I get that the main gameplay loop is redoing towers over and over with better knowledge, better strategies, and more sun tokens, but it's very much all or nothing, and sitting there staring at a single floor deliberating for hours and making one move every five minutes, just to walk away with nothing because you played wrong 4 floors ago, doesn't really inspire a will to keep playing. You can't even Leeroy yourself across the tower the first runthrough just for scouting because you still need to prepare 6 floors beforehand.

>>539382913>Just dig up the tilled soil and replace it once you've sucked out the nutrients with a crop of each nutrient type and repeatWait, doesn't that destroy the cube entirely?

I have a weird obsession with this game, I've wanted to play it again since I was a kid and now I learn it has community run-servers. I don't know if I really want to play an MMO from 2004 though shit sounds kinda ass.

>>539427341I don't know, I get the strong feeling this is one of those games that's more fun to think about then actually play. I remember playing it as a little kid and hearing older kids in my friend group talking about it on camping trips and they made it sound so cool; how you could combine elements together and be a fire/ice blaster if you wanted, or be a tank that protects themselves with fire or radiation or whatever. And I thought all of those were perfectly balanced and that must mean it's a good game lmao
>>539427658Yeah, but still. I got really obsessed with an old game called Deathtrap Dungeon, and it wouldn't leave me alone until I emulated it on playstation and finally played it myself.

Hmm, the Mist in Silksong is interesting in concept, but I have no clue how to get out.I've noticed that walking 5 tiles to the right leads to some sort of checkpoint-like area but after that it seems to loop forever. Walking up it also seems to loop, only other idea I have is walking right, up and then left again

>>539324943DRG Survivor has just left Early Access
>>539427128Do it, I felt the same, but it was very cathartic. Thunderstorms is the server the old /cox/ threads use. They changed things, all the classes are viable solo, minions aren't useless at high levels and there's all the dlc. Crowd control is blatantly overpowered tho.The endgame content is great, the war against Mott gets legit pretty spooky and you get to beat up npcs who bossed you around before. The "incarnate" endgame progression is really confusing, though.

150 hours in my modded Horizon's Gate playthrough and I'm finally starting to see the bottom of the bottle.(The vanilla game is sub-40 hours)World map 100% explored, most maps found and most quests done aside from repeatable content and Edmina's questline for ports of ill repute. There are still a few repeatables I can't even beat fairly without cheesing on RUIN difficulty. And I somehow still have 4 classes to unlock. I don't even know where to find 3 of them.
>>539456442>150 hours>(The vanilla game is sub-40 hours)The game has that many hours of gameplay?I remember quitting once I manage to build a fleet of big fat cargo ships with ships from the top left island. The combat was something I couldn't really get into.
>>539457294Yeah it has incredible modding scene and mountains of modded content. Many of the mods even fit seamlessly into vanilla lore/worldbuilding and are of similar quality if not better. However, a couple of mods I've got installed just feel like blatant cheat mods with how poorly they are balanced.>The combat was something I couldn't really get into.If you don't like the combat in rad codex games, there's not much point to them I guess. The fleet combat and ship trading systems are quite undercooked, not the meat of the game. But sailing on the overworld is a good and easily expandable setting for an open world game of this style.
Had I known that I could do every ending in dragon's dogma in a single playthrough, I would not have had to go through the entire game 4 times.

What's the point of those late game enemy spawn blockers in Abiotic Factor (radio scrambler, exor fetish, pest scare crow)? They all require some hefty materials like gate defence rune and carbon battery, while the humble crafting bench does the same job with cheaper materials AND blocks all spawns and not just specific ones.

Neyyah is bumming me out. I really want to love it. Obviously a lot of effort and care went into it. One dev running wild for years with no oversight. Visuals, atmosphere are gorgeous. But it needed harsh feedback so badly. There's so much unbearable babble. And I love information-heavy puzzle/mystery games but the way it's done here is just so poor. Unbearable. You enter a character's room and there are like 5 different journals, each 10 pages long, and they're all worded like "My dear Grigirovich, you will find the secret Mitochondrion #6 hidden in the Pahululu Chamber near the Zatharax Spalood, may the Zanzibart of Myrmidon be with you" and on and on and on. And if you wanna understand all the techno babble, you have to read dozens of dry infodump tabs in a computer but it's such a chore holy shit. That's not how you worldbuild and design a game. It completely destroys pacing. But an even bigger sin is, it seems like you can just ignore most of it and not engage with the lore at all. Because under all the appearance of complexity, it's still very basic, collect random items for your inventory then use them wherever you need to activate a mechanism. I feel a complete disconnect between my progression in the game just wandering around and trying whatever until it works, and whatever clues all the documents are supposed to feed me because I can barely even understand wtf they're describing.

>>539502284Devs require food and shelter to continue making art, and the only means to secure them is capital
>>539507359Many artists do not use their art for profit. My point is that it is ironic to use your art to critique capitalism while simultaneously using that art for personal profit.
When people complain about Capitalism they're not complaining about being allowed to open your own store or have a copyright on your shitty indie game characters and make a few hundred thousand on a huge release and letting your retire some day they're complaining about Nintendo patenting common game mechanics and the vast majority of the worlds wealth being owned by a tiny class of unaccountable billionaries btw. It's not that deep or complex and doesn't require ideological rigor to understand.
>>539508732>When people complain about Capitalism they're not complaining about being allowed to open your own store or have a copyright on your shitty indie game charactersThere's an entire ideology that has widespread support with one of its goals being the abolishment of private property.

>>539508732The problem is thinking its an issue with capitalism itself, which ironically enough was one of the best way to allow interclass transition but old blue blood ruined it via corruption, assets that dwarf anything anyone could realistically obtain using legitimate means (protip; even the richest man on earth worth hundred of billions is worth pennies to these scums) and systematic nepotism. Do mind the same old blue blood are also heavily involved into the claimed ideological opposition to this mentality, by effectively bankrolling them since regardless of what you believe, emone make the world go round. Basically the game is rigged and ''we've" allowed the ones who've been rigging the printing press to run amok. What a time to be alive, innit?

>>539454678Its more abandonware than indie, but Severance Blade of Darkness had some nice ost, albeit a bit repetitive, but Atmosphere 6 has been living rent free in my head for more than a decade. Tried the demo for Million Depth. The inconsistent pixel count and awkward controls are annoying, but it has some interesting ideas and nice music. I appreciate that the roguelike formula is a separate mode instead of being the only way to play the game

Cultic chapter two is pretty neat, while at first I was kind of salty that I had to buy it even if I was an early supporter of the game, ill admit in retrospective that its completely worth the price. Playing this new Aniplex-published original game. Some nice pixel art and music, but the asking price is way too steep for how mediocre and lazy the gameplay and level design is. Combat feels terrible, and the stages are nearly all filler, copypasted layouts, assets, etc. where you just fight the same enemies in the same boring ways for 8-10 minutes straight.
