The Meta Era of Sonic remains seen as a mistake that did no good for the series, and everyone is glad SEGA is finally slowly moving past it and its influence.
I honestly would prefer it if they just soft-rebooted the comic with the timeskip. Like just straight up don't mention any of the OCs for at least 2 or 3 years and when they do show back up, rewrite their personalities so that they fit better with the gamecast. This comic's plot line for the past 80 fucking issues is just a complete clusterfuck and trainwreck that continuing the narrative at all is just pointless.I've said it before but in order to unfuck the comic book at this point outside of rebooting it would take a minimum of like 10 straight issues of essentially rewriting and restructuring most of the OCs so their character arcs in the comic actually have lasting impacts on the characters.Also, remove Evan. His absolute priority should be returning the Chaos Emeralds to their shrines on Angel Island with the Master Emerald. Keeping all the Emeralds united as one big force maintaining balance in the world. As long as the Chaos Emeralds continuously scatter around the world, they continue to exist in and spread more "chaos". This is what Knuckles is responsible for, so he must stop that spread of chaos by keeping all the Emeralds together in the Hidden Palace. But while the Master Emerald is directly linked to Knuckles, the Chaos Emeralds are always entangled with Sonic. Where the Emeralds go, Sonic is sure to be around. He thrives in that chaos. That is the catalyst for his adventures. And so, Sonic becomes a major obstacle in Knuckles' duty to keep all of this "chaos" under control. Whenever Sonic is after the Chaos Emeralds to stop Eggman's latest scheme, Knuckles should always be an obstacle in that endeavor. Sonic can't even go "Super" when Knuckles won't even let him get his hands on the Emeralds, let alone use them. And thus, we have established Knuckles as Sonic's Rival appearing frequently on Sonic's Adventures AND being stubbornly immovable in his duty to protect the Master Emerald. All by adding in the idea that he must protect the Chaos Emeralds too.
