They arent .pngs, they are Helldiver models with ALL armors loaded to each render screen, then every armor except one is hidden. Judging by how Helldiver's model file size grows in each patch they add armors, they also likely do this with in-game models: each Helldiver has every armor loaded in, then everything except one is hidden but still consuming resources. The game also contains more duplicated files than original files. IIRC something between 60-90 GB are unnecessary duplicates. Also each particle in this game casts dynamic shadows, so each time someone shoots/walks, those little dust clouds cause 30+ extra dynamic transparent objects into lightning calculations, hence FPS dips when there's lots of things going on. You could disable these at some point for easy 20 FPS boost The game also never rebuilds shader cache (?!?!?) so it gets bloated over the patches, causing permanent drop in FPS unless you reinstall/delete the cache manually to force a rebuild. This used to be easy but they hid the shader cache location couple months back. They should just rebuild the cache on startup like literally every modern game, it takes only a couple seconds

I just woke up from a dream where they shadow dropped the minigun by making it a free mission stratagemmedium pen, max stalwart RPM, and something like 3838 held rounds. instead of a backpack it had like this weird mounting bracket frame that looked like a small metal bed frame you wore on your front. the weapon wheel options had something called "magnetic assist mode" which if you disabled just made the whole minigun and ammo drum assembly fall off the support frame and break. it also displayed a laser for every barrel and you could twist a cylinder attached to the muzzle of all 6 or 7 barrels which would then tighten or loses the spread of the minigun, which if you loosened it would cause the aiming lasers to twist and curl, and no matter how much you fiddled with it you couldn't get it to back back to firing in a straight line

Just reached level 60 on Xbox. As a newfag I can only say my enjoyment of the game has only decreased with time played. When you realize majority of the weaponry and gadgets are useless at higher difficulties (worse on caves), the lack of variety, dogshit performance and glitches, lame community... I'm convinced this game fucks over anyone that has any one bottleneck in their system, be it GPU, RAM, VRAM, CPU, storage, or power supply. I'm getting stable well beyond 60 on pretty blown out (all maxed ultra quality rendering) settings with minimal crashes but my PC is about twice as nice as the average. It's actually unfair that a fucking Playstation game can test a build like this, but here we are in near 2026 and console ports can still be inferior garbage.
