It's an inibuilds plane so it'll be good enough, possibly decent. Their manuals are always basic, but it looks okay flicking through.

I'll take inibuilds over carenado or AH anyday.
From that manual it looks pretty decent to me. I've been clamoring for a servicable turboprop airliner for ages now, still aching for an L-188 but this I think might scratch the itch for a while.
>>
>>540371071
Carenado stuff, since FSX, has always looked good but have basic systems and fight model. Shame that Microsoft got them to make most of the planes in 2024. AH are just a shitshow, I assume they took on too much work, they may have improved now as I think the Lancaster was well received.

I've seen a vid somewhere where they restored an original space AGC into an Apollo lander simulator and went through the landing exactly as it did in real life.

I wonder what would happen if ED got the original source code for say the Viggen CK37, the LANTIRN, or something as modern as the Gripen source code.
>>

>I wonder what would happen if ED got the original source code for say the Viggen CK37, the LANTIRN, or something as modern as the Gripen source code.
They would sell it to the Russians or the Chinese.
Jokes aside I don't think in terms of sim development they actually care about such codes. Developing for a sim is in my understanding completely different from IRL. An actual TPOD code needs to tackle real life conditions, same with radar waves for a radar lock that aren't as 1 or 0 as a simulated game. Actually being able to play with a tpod would probably help them much more than having to reverse engeneer from a source code.

DCS has no soul simply because the most popular servers won't set to night/bad weather, and don't generate missions when you have to bomb an individual building in a city.

No, just notch the missile (fly perpendicular, there is a HUD indication) and then hit the jammer. It takes about 3 seconds to lose a lock. You DO have to lock on and aim to use the direction jammers on the Medusa.

>>540478675
>datalink
Can fox 3 be given track data from awacs/datalink?
>>
>>540479627
Fox-3 is already a form of datalink, as it receives mid-course updates from the launch aircraft. At this point, I assume it's up to the software/avionics of the launch aircraft whether the mid-course commands are based on information from the aircraft's own radar, or from an external datalink source.

I assume on the Typhoon, where there's "sensor fusion" it matters less on what information source the individual track is generated from, as long as it's a solid track.

How do the medusa jammers work exactly? does having 2 pods mean I can jam 2 targets? And what's the range and can you jam through obstacles? I really want to like the medusa but I can't seem to make it work.
>>
>>540572470
>does having 2 pods mean I can jam 2 targets?
Yes. You also get a bit more range if only jamming a single target. 4 jammers obviously increases all this, but you'll drain your capacitors faster.
>And what's the range and can you jam through obstacles?
You can't jam through obstacles as far as I know. You need direct line of sight. It might ignore other vehicles, but not terrain.
50km according to the HUD, within this range is works very well. After that its effectiveness falls off but it still kinda works, but I don't know exact numbers. I know by 100km it's useless, unless maybe you have 4 jammers.
>I can't seem to make it work.
Keep in mind it only works against radar guided missiles. Ships can have IR or AAA they can still fire. It's also possible for them to briefly acquire a lock based on your range. If they're shooting at something close by they might maintain the lock long enough to hit it. For stratolances you want to jam the radar truck directly and blind the whole battery.
I don't actually know if jamming AI planes does much. Jamming human players will annoy them and mess with their map, but they can still fire missiles just fine. Plane launched missiles are all ARH and need to be jammed directly. You can do the same with SAMs but it makes more sense to jam the radar/launcher.
>>
>>540578269
Thanks. I think its a really good looking plane but every time I give it a spin I just get the impression I could've brought something cheaper with more ordnance. Do you use it in singleplayer and if so, how?

I can't tell you how to use it since I suck at it too. One tip I do have, is that your capacitor charges faster if your radar is off. This is true of all planes, but on the Medusa, you can basically use 2 pods indefinitely with the radar off and your engine at max spool.
>>
>>540578674
I don't use it as much in singleplayer, but that's because the AI sucks and has no idea how to deal with it (a lot of human players don't either) and systematically taking out their SAM network and ships. One more tip is that you're pretty free to ignore the weight limit. But in singleplayer I don't think the radome is worth the extra drag nor is a full load of fuel needed if you're not planning to fly around for radar coverage. Better to be lighter and faster to attack and rearm as quickly as possible. If you know a target isn't covered by IR sams or AAA you can fire a single ARAD and switch over to your jammer. For defended targets you need to be closer, like within 30km, and ideally have some altitude, but a single missile per target still usually gets through. Only on ships other than shards would I suggest firing multiple missiles. Unless you're playing a custom mission with very heavy AD coverage.
With 6 ARADS and how effective they are combined with the jammers, it is very effective against anything with a radar that isn't flying. And the cost of the plane itself isn't much of a concern once you can afford it if you know what you're doing because of how insanely difficult it is to shoot you down. But if you're thinking of carrying anything other than ARADs, then yeah probably just take a different plane.

Some of what I said might be outdated, I haven't played much since the last patch which buffed ARAD speed but also buffed IR sams and added the CIWS trailers.
>>
>>540578674
Oh, and one very simple but important tip.
Disable weapon safety while the map is open in the options. Being able to jam while you have your map open is extremely important.

The campaign of Cold Waters is really fucked, and the information you find on the internet about home base assignments is just not correct. Still in '68.
I had intercepted some dudes near the ice cap and had to hurry down to the norwegian coast because some cruiser fuck was trying to attack the coast or something.
Sadly I haven't taken any pictures from the operation because I tried it numerous times.
The thing is, I am in a Sturgeon, and the Sverdlov makes like 32kn, which is faster than me AND my torps, which means that if I even so slightly disturb the group, it just bails and I'm fucked, so I had to go for a more prudent approach.
Basically I parked in the shadow zone and had them come to me. Two Kotlins and two Rigas as escorts.
Got btfo numerous times, until I eventually said fuck it, just sent everything the big dick's way and bailed.

Trackir just reminded of the abomination I thought I'd purged from my memory.

>still have to get world updates from the marketplace in 2024 even though they're streamed
What's the point?

Well that was pointless, I was looking forward to flying it too.

They're free, but it seems completely pointless needing to add them to your library in 24 as it's streamed.
>>
>>540620990
Probably to give players the choice is they have slow internet and no disk space
>>
>>540620990
The dumbest thing is that there's a big notification the first time you start the game after a world/city update that lets you know it exists -- with absolutely zero mention or links for going to the marketplace to get it. Unless you already know how it works, you'd just assume it's happened automatically and end up never getting it.
>>
>>540621776
Absolutely and that's what happened to me,
>Why isn't the Japan update in my library?
>Hang on I have to manually add it
>turns out I hadn't added the German city update either
I see the point for 2020 when you don't want to install absolutely everything, but for 24 it doesn't make any sense.

It's an old FIAT test track called Pista di Nardò. Now Porche owns it.
If you can't use the coordinates take off from Lecce-Galatina AB from runway 32 and fly heading 285 for around 15nm.

Cheers, I'll have a look at some point.
