Where Is The Little French Girl? Edition

>What the heck is this
/indie/ is the general for all indie games, such as A Hat in Time, Animal Well, Baba Is You, Balatro, Battle Brothers, Cave Story, Celeste, CrossCode, Cultist Simulator, Darkest Dungeon, Darkwood, Dead Cells, Disco Elysium, Environmental Station Alpha, FTL, Hades, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Hotline Miami, LISA, Lobotomy Corp, Loop Hero, Machinarium, Monster Train, Noita, Nuclear Throne, OFF, OneShot, Rain World, Shovel Knight, Slay the Spire, Starsector, Subnautica, Sunless Skies, The Witness, Void Stranger, etc., as well as other games that just don't fit in any other general such as Atelier, Pillars of Eternity, and Valkyria Chronicles. /jrpg/ is welcome. Idle, roguelite, shmup, 4x / RTS / city-builders, and RPGMaker games are cool too.

Mobile or consoles, Flash or Unity, freeware or early access. This place is a home for the indie game community and indie and obscure games that don't have a home. So be free to talk and share all your hidden gems, forgotten games and starving devs here.

>Can I talk about games that already have a general?
We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads, however, all indie games are allowed. So talk about them if you want, but don't overdo it since you already have other generals for that.

Id say their individual perks is more of a suggestion than a class per se, like nothing stop you from dabbling in magic as a club wielding dwarf, but obviously you shoud specialize as to reduce the chances of fumbling asap. The dwarf ex bandit is pretty good because you can carve some trophy from elites which you can sell or turn in (if killed as part of a contract) for an hefty bonus, which help a lot early game. None of the characters start with skills, its mostly just suggestions that synergize well with their background perk, but even then they arent a requirement.

Apart from the witch, that is, as her perk encourage pure magic builds as you get a net magic power bonus for each magic learned iirc.

Maybe that ubisoft executive was right about women negatively affecting game sales...
>>

Good morning, I hate women
>>
>>541254070
As long as the girl is actually appealing then it's fine.
>>
>>541254070

I haven't keep up with Ubisoft games other than Anno.

>like nothing stop you from dabbling in magic as a club wielding dwarf
Other than the skill trees being locked out?
Can you unlock them later in the game via trainers or something?
>>
>>541256103
A game forcing me to play as a character that does not appeal to me makes me significantly less interested in playing that game.
>>
>>541255936
Ubisoft exec scold writing team for wanting to make a female protagonist as the main character of assassin's creed odyssey, a dev leak it to the press, the press roll with it.
The exec was serge hascoet, who is currently on an 18 months probation for sexual & workplace harassment.
This is fairly common in triple A games. A sony exec admitted that he was a bit scared horizon zero dawn would fail due to having a female protagonist.
>>
>>541257150
Why do you care? You ain't gonna fuck the pixels.
>>

I agree. That's why I don't play Hades. I hate muscular twinks. They remind me of dmc devil may cry's version of dante. That's why I like the deus ex reboots. Adam is fucking hot man like dude I know he had a girlfriend but I wouldn't mind seeing which part of him are not augmented if you see what I mean.

>A sony exec admitted that he was a bit scared horizon zero dawn would fail due to having a female protagonist.
Well, Alloy was hot, a bit autistic, but wasn't a girlboss insufferable cunt like may other westerner's female characters are.

I don't play Hades because it looks like tumblrcore. It only lacks the red noses.

Releasing the original deus ex again in this day and age is a political statement. I'm surprised embracer dared to do that. I'm even more surprised that no one talks about its message. Between the project getting greenlit and the announcement there must have been a ton of reasons to pull the plug and say "Maybe it's not the right time".
>>
>>541260043
Nobody understood the intended message, to the average player it's just "cool future, technology is rad!"
>>
>>541259759
>Well, Alloy was hot
They fixed that in the sequel.
>>
>>541259759
Aloy looks like my neighbor so I'd say they succeeded in making an average woman face. The writing was bad and forgettable. The gameplay was okay but turned into ubislop very quickly. It was just another triple A game. Nothing special about it. The thing I remember was the reactions to aloy's face. It was embarassing. Like some people literally added make up with photoshop and called it a fix. Poe's law was in a full effect.
>>
>>541259759
Anon, did you actually fall for what people said? None of that other shit mattered, the gooners would be happy with any character that looked like a model.
>>
>>541258826
Of course I have preferences. But it really doesn't matter, it's an optional metric. Sure, I like women with big swords and bigger tits, but it ain't the end of the world to play as something else. I made it through the Angry Buzzcut White Guy Protagonist era just fine, and there is nothing appealing about Cole McGrath or whoever the fuck John BlackOps was.
>>
>>541223362
I think this is about the best I can do for the middle of year 2, any further than this would just be diminishing returns that aren't worth it for me right now. If I was close to pre core Sun Pill levels or something I'd go for it, but I'm not close enough for that right now.
>>
>>541256142
Huh, I dont remember them being locked out, but its more likely that its my shitty memory failling on thst peculiar matter. You can get books later on that teach you the basics of a few skill trees, first guy is in the second town which I dont recommend going to super early because the jobs there are too hard for starter gear and skills, and they cost a lot.

Finally got around to Hades 1
>unlock bow
>kill dad on first try
>9th attempt overall
Well that feels overpowered. Seems to be the worst Supergiant title. Combat is much less interesting than Transistor or Pyre, about on the same level as Bastion - but that game benefited from being linear sequence of unique challenges. There's not much enemy variety either, just a lot of button mashing
Hades also suffers from visual noise. Clearly a lot of effort went into the art, but not a lot of thought into making it readable. Foreground art frequently obscures parts of the room. There are all kinds of glowy animated decorative objects and particle effects and over-detailed floors, which make noticing visual cues artificially difficult. Didn't fully realize that until the final boss which you fight in a clear snowy field, which felt like turning on the lights. Suddenly it's crystal clear where enemies/hazards are and what they are doing, because it all stands out from the simple environment. I could finally lean back away from the screen and stop squinting.
Story wise it's alright, Zagreus is a good main character. The game is pretty strongly implying that there is more to see after beating it once, and Supergiant have earned some leeway with their previous games. How many mere (successful) runs to reach the true ending or whatever?
>>541263083
>screw Tong
The interesting part about this ending is that, unlike the others, we don't really get any indication as to how it pans out long term. The Illuminati have a status quo to maintain and is fairly open with JC about their plans - Helios says it has a directive, plus we get clues about its motivations and methods from Morpheus. I assume the idea was to associate freedom with uncertainty by making the outcome an unknown.

Always felt like the Helios ending is the best one overall for all involved, as the illuminati just want to keep the status quo which is why everything went to shit and twat like bob page could attain such power in the first place (iirc he was part of illuminati but went to do his own things), and tong "solution" is just throwing the bathwater with the baby out the window and hope the next generation know better which is a fool errand as you simply cant expect the ignorants to learn of mistakes they patently do not know even transpired. In comparison, Helios at least provide a tengible alternative, as it is well aware that its limitations prevent the possibility of the application of a viable solution and therefor, willingly accept to sacrifice itself by fusing with JC to understand humanity better.

But I guess its irrelevant to discuss it further since the next game made it so all the endings were partly canons.

I like how each ending shows JC in a different light, and with Helios he seems to share it's ambitions of godhood. Tong himself is a bit annoying (and not as well written as Helios or Everett) but there is plenty of merit to destroying the global surveillance & control system. Even if future generations might recreate it, that doesn't mean they should be denied the freedom to live better lives in the meantime. There is always the chance they go down a different path, or repeat the same and end up destroying it again.
One of the foundational themes of the game is that it is not natural for a human civilization to exist unchanged for ever. Attempting to create one which does is what created all of those problems. It's very fitting for a game which came out in 2000, in the midst of that turn of the millennium complacency where people in the west started to think that history was 'over'.

Got a good drop from a stone casket, there's three highly useful manuals I'd like, two I have to just get lucky and find randomly, and this is one of the two.
I'd have to complete the quest this one gives which will take at minimum three seasons, but it'd make getting a large supply of spirit roots much easier in the future. It's maybe the least useful of the three for me on my current achievement run, but it's still one I want long term for sure.

You mean the plot? Spoilers: The setting is a digital city where all the characters are constructs and live in a democratic utopia. Singer girl flees from an attack where she lost her voice and her bf got absorbed into a sword. There are robots running around processing stuff into blank slates like them. She eventually finds out the robots were under control of the Camerata, a secret group of people who were trying to control the city. One was jealous of the bf and tried to absorb the girl, but bf got hit instead. As the sword absorbs people it gains power related to the people, the Camerata were using the robots to wipe things to a clean slate and the sword to recreate things. Somehow during the failed attack they lost control of the sword and the robots went wild, attempting to wipe the entire city. You beat up robots and try to get revenge on the Camerata and save the city. By the end the Camerata all committed suicide or died to the bots, the last member offers to work together to save the city but doing so means only one of you can live. You beat him up too and fix the city but you find out you can't restore sword bf so you kill yourself with the sword to get absorbed and join him.

You stop time to plan out movements and attacks then automatically execute that plan. But that has a cooldown, so you have to scramble around in real time using attacks on the fly before pausing again. Throughout the game you get access to a wider range of attacks; each one can be used as an active ability, or as a modifier which alters the effects of an active ability, or as a buff to your character overall. There are countless ways to re-arrange them for different builds, and you can swap them round to try new tactics at every checkpoint. It's a fun and genuinely unique system,

This game manages to hit all the spots a good stealth game should have, has good weapon / gunplay design, nice customization, runs great, has a map editor built in and I still can't get myself to like it.

I think it's due to the fact that the top down simply does not work for a stealth game. Basically I have three gripes:

1) You can run and gun but then the game plays like Hotline Miami 2 - you move your cursor to the edge of the screen to get the enemies rushing you. You spam bullets and that's it. To alleviate this, game forces you to look for ammo and change weapons relatively frequently. All in all it's simple, and soon becomes trivial to beat the game this way.

2) If you elect to play stealthily, you also have to do the same HM2 mechanic to look for patrols because they move a bit faster than should be realistic, otherwise the game would be even more trivial due to how much control the perspective gives you. Sound design is good but does not help with this problem. Dev tries to limit quicksaves, but still, stealth is simply not fun for the same reason shooting isn't.

3) To pad out the time, dev introduces unbreakable and unpickable locks / doors so for some areas you have to hunt down special keycards, but for some you do not.

I could add that the story is horrible, idiotic and amateurish but the game's problems are much bigger than that. It does matter though because HM2 feels like a newgrounds game compared to this one's complex systems, yet it easily clears it due to interesting story and great atmosphere.

Failed the half hour boss run again. This time I reflected on just how many useless perks there are in this game. I count TWENTY wasted pickups in this run. Pretty great game design. The Q perks are belly laugh tier bad too. You basically only have two usable ones out of like 30: the clone and time stop. Think about it. Would like to literally freeze time, or summon a few dinky missiles? How about summon a swarm of jellies? No? Oh come on. How about an ability that opens every chest in a 5 feet radius? A teleport back to your entrance portal??

I think autobattlers can be designed well, I would like to see a diablo 2 clone that is a mix of autobattler and dunno. Maybe more emphasis on dodge.

Does this run well on potatoes? Lots of shit on the screen.

What's left until it hits 1.0?
At least a bunch of skill trees from what I gather.
Other than that the game seemed very feature-complete, though I don't know how much planned content might still be missing.
Is voice acting planned for the entire game? Because the tutorial had surprisingly good VA with memorable voices for such a small indie game.

Last shop before major threat midgame boss, my weapons are totally inadequate but theres a thrall pit for sale and a module that makes friendly crew explode on death dealing 10 damage to enemy crew
Pick up a couple of neck romancers along the way who can throw ghouls at people across space
Pick up a spell for my witch that throws 5 ghouls at people
Also have 2 soulstorms, a soulspear, a bunch of rejuvs and a module that makes every non-summoning projectile deal 1 extra damage (turned out that included rejuv as well lmao, wanna heal on your own ship? eat hull damage)

Just finished Chronicles Of The Wolf. Loved it.

It's a hard sell, a rough glorified fan game but it's a true love letter to Castlevania. Basically two games in one.

The first half is structured like Simon's Quest where you travel through hub towns with NPCs and forests and swamps with mini dungeons. Progression is mostly linear with proto-Igavania design here and there.

The SOTN second half you reach an actual large castle with multiple sub-areas and one big interconnected map, more non-linearity, faster pace. Early game isn't really representative of how much it opens up later on, it starts slow and stiff but as you get more upgrades and unlock warps you start traversing fast.

I love that structure. Simon's Quest always had a great idea buried in a flawed game and here it finally feels done right.

It commits to feeling like a lost 90s game with stiff, committal heavy controls, no checkpoints only rare manual save spots with frustrating runbacks. It's backtrack and resource management heavy. There is an in-game map but without any markers or names so you're expected to manually write some stuff down. It has important progress hidden behind things like breakable walls, puzzles, scripted deaths and bullshit traps. And some varied and inspired level ideas at times that really nail the aspect of spooky castle full of weird supernatural mindfucks.

For the most part it's not a difficult game but it is a bit obtuse at times. Nowhere near something like La-Mulana but it's likely you'll get stuck on some bullshit. Progression is a mix of requiring Igavania abilities to reach new areas and survival horror design of requiring certain items to deal with certain locks or NPCs. Dev had a lot of fun trying to add variety to progress gates, the inventory is huge. There are multiple endings, and to get to the true ending it gets more challenging and cryptic.

Don't bother if you can't appreciate purposefully old school design. But it nails what it's trying to achieve.

All of them?
Momodora 1 and 2 aren't really metroidvanias and fairly linear. But 3-5 are the ones that are on steam.(III, Reverie 4/under the moonlight, 5/Moonlit fairwell) Though i haven't played 3 myself.
Minoria is from the same devs and basically just Momodora but with 3D models.
Tevi is from the same devs as rabi ribi. Similar combat and stuff. not quite as non-linear as rabiribi. still a decent length though.

I'd probably rate the games like
Momodora4=Minoria<momodora5<Tevi<RabiRibi
from least complex/content to most

I build "service tunnels" between floors and run elevators into them to hide the spagetti (though it's usually not that much a spagetti this way). You can buy the elevator holes to make them look nicer.

i've got all my programming experience from modding games as a hobby over the years, and that gives you a ton of hands-on experience which isolated programming courses don't cover (like a lot of config work, proper architecture principles and fiddling with different API structures which would be 90% of your work on an actual software development job)
eventually i went to college, did nothing for 4 years and then written my diploma in 3 days, getting the highest grade, everything they would've taught me there i already knew by simply coding myself
now i just do backend on typescript for a local ISP part time 3 days a week, more than enough money to sustain myself because i am not exactly a high-maintenance guy. a ton of time to play vidya and actually do things that i want

nothing public yet
it's a pretty ubiquitous asset loader with a few game-specific kinks, json saving system that intercepts game's loading/saving methods and injects generic json code, and a status system (because vanilla game handles all statuses via hardcoded fields lol) that handles logistics, provides a robust template, has common hooks for the most common body events and is tightly integrated with the former two to the point where you don't actually have to import loader/saver to create a simple status effect as everything is handled automatically. the last mod is an extensive testing suite for all three because i have no access to a profiler/debugger.
they're all performant (i try to use direct ILpatches when possible), loosely coupled with the game's systems for futureproofing and all have simple APIs which are condensed to 3-4 method calls and a few data structures at most.

I recommend building concrete foundations under all of your buildings as soon as you can afford them. Also holding Ctrl(?) while placing foundations will align them to a global grid, this way you can be sure that two separate parts of your factory will fit together if they ever end up growing big enough to touch.
But I fully agree, building nice looking shit is so time consuming sometimes. Last time I played I eventually got put off by the fact that I was spending way too much time to build this engine unit assembly line, spending a lot of time to make it pretty and then realizing that it's quite far away from my actual factory. So once it will be finished I'll probably hardly ever go here

True, though I tend not to do that. I think resource extraction buildings are the only thing that look fine on the ground not aligned to the grid.
But either way I think clipping some concrete into the ground (and maybe rounded off with ramps at the edges to make it look more natural) goes a long way to make your factory look a lot better and also easier to traverse and organize. Plus with some supports you can build multiple stories up without it looking awkward.
>>541429790
I've been procrastinating on making blueprints really hard. It's a lot more cumbersome compared to factorio, where you can just blueprint an existing build and have no size limitation. Though I accept that it's also a lot easier to make it that way in 2D compared to 3D

can't really pass the opportunity to post my old clowcar webm. I spent more time making the factory looking good than building functional things and never finished the game, never will. There is just something in the progression curve of satisfactory that I think the devs kind lost themselves.

I don't respect hacking as a system unless the right set of conditions exist, and having an ion blast II already does the hacking role well.
Besides, I'd rather have fun and potentially throw the run, then play boring and have a slightly higher chance. Hindsight is just that.

Honestly I feel like this is a big part of the game, hence why I think comparing this game to factorio is a little misplaced sometimes. Factorio feels a geared a lot more towards optimizing production lines, while Satisfactory is almost a little like Minecraft in the sense that one of the big aspects of that game is you building nice looking shit for the sake of building nice looking shit.
Don't trust anyone who says one is strictly better than the other

Satisfactory feels like it was made by multiple teams that didn't always comunicated with each other, didn't care much about the end product and its also a collection of ideas that are good isolated, but doesn't always fit that well with each other.

For example, early in the EA all these wreckages and alien artifacts had no purpose, its like they liked of what subnautica did with ship wreckages but didn't stop to think how that would interwine with the factory building, the result is the entirely optional hard drives introduced later, that doesn't really do much for exploration. Someone decided that would be cool to have this clusterfuck of a geography full of obstacles for the player to build around (and its not a bad idea), but them added trains that don't fit in and kind contradicts this design, probably only because some suits decided that the game MUST have vehicles and they would just figure later how that would work.

I think the game starts out great, but some upgrade tiers later are kinda boring.

No, it just makes you look silly. People make up shit all the time for historical people for stories, much less fictional characters. The entire modern conception of Hell is mostly based off one dude's fanfiction a couple centuries ago. Do you throw a tantrum whenever someone describes fire and brimstone? Even the people themselves back then had different versions of characters that sycretized with local traditions. Dionysus most likely started out as a god of the dead, but that eventually morphed into a drunk crazy party dude. Hermes fucked off to Egypt and got associated with Thoth and people merged the two and they spawned Hermeticism, which brought us alchemy, completely unrelated to Hermes himself. Not going to get into how every ethnicity likes to depict Jesus as one of them, despite very obvious logic that he wouldn't be. Hades (the game) making stupid tumblr OCs about greek gods is just following in the tradition of people making stupid OCs about knights being idealistic and chivalrous, or stupid OCs about mafioso being honorable and cool.

Actually you're wrong, it was made up by the catholic church as to entice pagans and made them believe that if they didn't convert, they risked eternal damnation, while also giving the casus belli for the early Catholic converts to conquer their pagans neighbors under the guise of muh divine justice, as they could claim they were doing it for their spiritual sake and not just being power hungry pricks.

Heck, the Torah has absolutely no mention of hell, the only thing remotely similar is the concept of Sheol, and even then it isn't a realm of suffering but rather a limbo where those who didn't see the light of god during their lifetime were stuck in, not suffering per se but the condition itself was seen as undesirable.

There's only 1 keycard door in the entire game that you can't kick open as far as I remember. The game was designed to be played on true difficulty, enemies notice you 3 to 4 times slower on normal and you can easily survive multiple hits. On throwback, you can tank enemies like no tomorrow with heavy armor and they're less aggressive if they don't see/hear you and more aggressive if they do. So true is the hardest difficulty and the real default.
>unbreakable doors
You can't break metal doors but you can kick the doors open.
>If you elect to play stealthily, you also have to do the same HM2 mechanic to look for patrols because they move a bit faster than should be realistic,
I'm not sure what you mean by that. The patrols follow a set path and timing, they're not synchonized with each other. In fact this is why the "notice missing patrol" timer is so long, because it's meant to represent the fact patrols only see each other sometimes. If you have enemies "patrolling" without pattern or logic, it means they've noticed something very wrong and are actively searching for you.
HM2 on comparison is extremely binary. Enemies are active or not. Enemies don't notice anything except the player. You can open doors, even kill and they won't notice you as long as they don't notice the player itself.
>>
>>541460941

Sorry I mixed it up, yes the association with fire is in the Bible. The details like different layers and locations within Hell are the ones that Dante came up with. Things like the seven deadly sins were also never in the Bible and conceived of later by the Catholic church. Point is, people treat these characters and stories as static pictures, when they're almost never that. I think the tumblrification in Hades is silly, but no more silly than everyone else throughout the millennia making their own interpretations.

If you want to see it for yourself, just open two version of the bible side by side, I personally recommend the Douay-Reims (stay the fuck away from modern prints, they're basically just the KJV in a trenchcoat) and the King James Version, because the later is the worst version by far. But like that other anon said, this isnt indie and we shouldn't derail the thread with discussion of religion.

>>
>>541494954
the game is good, but the high-end challenge is not well-balanced. Majority of your runs can't win simply because your combination of items/cards isn't broken enough. On the plus side runs are only 20min long so losing doesn't feel as bad

>>541522545
it's decent fun except if the combination of words deckbuilder roguelike makes you want to gouge your eyes out
>>
>>541521304
I've only played Onirism, but I played it enough to confirm that the only thing preventing this game from achieving GOTY status is a lack of optimization, some serious bugs, bad controller support (who plays a shooter with a controller lmao), terrible user interface and the incomplete dub, but all should be fixed with 1.0. Other problems include steep difficulty spikes in an otherwise pretty easy game, and the levels' maps being useless. Some people complain about getting lost in the levels, but 80% of the time, it's a skill issue, though the later level layouts can be confusing.
On the other hand, you get a very long campaign mode inspired by the PS2 era of platformers and the shooters from before like Serious Sam (full campaign should be 30-hours long, and playable with co-op up to 4 players) with varied environments and enemies, and a ton of weapons. The general gameplay is great, you have fast and varied movement tech, you can slide, dive, go prone, do long ang high jumps... The humor is refreshing and the soundtrack is very good. It looks great thanks to a very pretty art direction and they brought the cream of the crop for the French dub, that we'll experience in full in 1.0.
On top of it, there is two arcade modes (a score attack horde mode and a CoD zombies bonus mode), and local multiplayer inspired by PS2 games like Nightfire or Timesplitters, with online on the way.
The current version remains very rough, so I hope 1.0 fixes its problems, but otherwise, that's some proper vidya.

I'll probably keep this result, not because the total of the two cores is over 1.2m which was my original hope, but because during the breakthrough I had a disaster event pop at Riverbank plains finally. That alone makes me want to keep it.
I will do the breakthrough again though, just because there's one more thing I explicitly want to test what would happen.

Quasimorph is a game that exhausts the player with dungeons that take far too long to finish and the gameplay that is not varied enough nor fun enough to justify it. But somehow they managed to flesh out a fascinating setting that would make for a fantastic immersive sim RPG if someone had the skill to make it.

Act 1 get your bearings on Earth
Act 2 go to Mars
Act 3 Quasimorph concept reveal (mid game twist)
etc etc
it's a better setting than Dead Space

Risk of Rain 2 devs must be kicking themselves now that Megabonk is making buck

The game is very repetitive and does not feel rewarding to play. It's built around inventory management and three modes of combat (number of actions you can take) which is very simple to learn. In order to minimize the chance of getting one shotted you have to play very careful, which adds another layer of tedium, since it's not hard to grasp, but absolutely necessary to do. Imagine having to play Diablo 2 on walking speed. That's what Quasimorph is like.

>Tainted Grails 3rd chapter

Goddamn, what an awful drop in overall quality, you can tell they rushed the zone and just wanted to be done asap, and it kind of start to show by the end of act 2, where you have a pretty sizeable chunk of the map that is just empty wasteland with nothing at all, and not even the big ass wickerman statue that is hinted in a cutscene is even used for anything... and it just get worse. Just completed the morrigan crow questline and they didn't even freaking bother to give Arthur a comment about how we just freaking met one of his sisters... and the act 3 map itself has long stretch where absolutely nothing happens as there isn't any spawn.

kinda dissapointing so see the game make such a nosedive right by the end, hope the main quest is at least tolerable.

>Reach the house of some guy called Aki
>Say he doesnt know what cheese is and want me to bring him some
>This premise is so freaking stupid I cant even bother thinking of something witty, just take it and proceed to backtrek to my stash (lot of quest in act 3 are straight up just back n forth between place you've already visited, morgane crows last few quest being especially bad)
>Before I leave the house, see that he has fucking cheese on his kitchen counter

Are you fucking serious? God act 3 is a fucking joke compared to the rest of the game, kind of sad how shit it is compared to the rest of the game. Its like they just gave up with the questing and just made some obligatory 3 quest per tribe village checkmark shit, its sad to see. At least the enemy design is still nice.

You know, before genAI, devs lacking in certain skillsets just used shitty MSPaint Programmer Art and TTS as placeholders. Yes, it was garbage and everyone knew it, but it still showed that you actually cared about your product enough to put in that effort despite your lack of ability. Using genAI just shows that you have no personal pride in your work.

i am usually against minigames since they get tedious and offer almost no skill expression once you figure them out, however i think most new interactions avoid it as they add depth
i.e. the new dressing minigame solves a lot of previous issues and makes things more coherent: rolling speed depends on your stats, dressing quality and how damaged the main hand is; you need to learn how much of a given dressing is enough to stop the bleeding allowing for micromanagement of individual dressing rolls. large, multi-limb bleeding wounds can no longer be instantly stopped by slapping bandages everywhere, and there's actual reason to prioritize catering large wounds now since you can only bandage a singular wound at once.
i am on the fence about hacking and lockpicking minigames, but afaik they still depend on multiple parameters like stats, your main hand health and whether your claws are intact or not (which also get damaged by digging, adding another layer of management - "do i want to dig through this wall now but risk not being able to pick locks until my claws grow back?"), and failure can damage the them.
>>
>>541575821
Probably. Just keep in mind that it's very easy to miss things unless you plan to do multiple playthroughs.
