>Thoughts on Divinity: Original Sin 2?Haven't played but I want to bone the skeleton guy
>>541324710Was nice to see Swen trying to actually flesh things out but really did not like the changes to combat mechanics. I do very much like having all areas be designed properly and not randomly generated.
>>541324710garbage
Run from it, dread from itBut magically inept fighters will always play second fiddle to the glorious and tremendous wizards. To keep up the fighters need to use magic items anyway. What a shame
>>541326041Imagine a class so pathetic it needs a magic spell to open a locked chest when Joe the fighter can just smash it open
>>541326408>when Joe the fighter can just smash it openIf the game lets you, how many CRPGs really let you just smash things instead.
>>541323314Did that but they aggro the enemies just accross the way and make it worse.
>>541326650Are you using consumables? Don't hoard them. You get a lot through the game, and they're almost all low-level meaning they will never be as impactful as they are in the early game, and from mid-game on you'll just sell them all because they're basically worthless to actually use.Post character sheet if you want, maybe you're missing something. I assure you that the entire game is viable with a rogue MC, but re-roll if you aren't having fun with the class.
>>541324710>Thoughts on Divinity: Original Sin 2?pretty fun, the ost is as good as the main plot is badly written but it was still an enjoyable experience
>>541324710>Thoughts on Divinity: Original Sin 2?it's okay but like all larian shit it tries just a little too hard to be cool. some good ideas in there smothered by cringe. better with extra class mods.
>>541326483but prep casters are the worst in crpgs?
>>541327230I do. i fire everything but they just spam fear and summons and everything is compete anarchy.
>>541324710I liked the custom being the literal who amidst the companions being the important figures. Refreshing from the opposite.
>>541324710>Thoughts on Divinity: Original Sin 2?Stopped playing in fort joy twiceSimply couldn't enjoyPerhaps its the party members, perhaps it's the armor system, I simply do not like it
>>541334652This was my experience too. Got off the boat, went up towards the town and it just starts to unwind until I'm fully uninvested. Rarely happens with crpgs for me too, Larian really knows how to deflate a game.
>>541334973I think that's just ADHD anon.
>>541335165Doesn't happen with other games for me, even lengthy wordy ones like Owlcat's shit.
Do you think the admech and the 3 unrevealed companions for Dark Heresy will actually be good looking?
>>541337001I hope its a man so waifufags kill themselves more
>>541337001even if they were 10/10 space babes, do you really want to suffer the company of monstrous or ugly companions for 80 hours
>>541326483You just bash chests in planescape in general
>>541337001Even if they're good it's not going to salvage the Dark Heresy companion cast, it will 100% be a downgrade from RT no matter what. It's only getting worse with each new DLC for RT adding yet another companion, too.
>damn this chest is locked>if all the screwdrivers in the realm hadn't been magically banished, we could take the hinges off>oh well I better smash it and maybe break everything inside, nothing else to do
not my fault a rogue or a fighter wouldn't be stopped by a door but a wizard would
How do I rationalize picking Wenduag as a good aligned character? I don't want to suffer Lann the Cringe King in my party.
>>541338356You do the same Camellia cope of "I can fix her" but you can't.
>>541338356Just kick Lann out of the party early on
>>541338356an ARMY of CANNIBALS?are you out of your MIND?
How do I rationalize picking Ember as an evil aligned character? I don't want to suffer Cam the Cringe Queen in my party.
>>541338979Your personal pet mindbreak project.
>>541338356Why don't you just create a custom mercenary that actually fits what you envision as a solid party member? I swear people have no imagination and never try building their own team of guys, instead acting like they MUST take the prewritten NPCs at all costs. Tragic stuff.
>>541337658I thought the WOTR cast was a downgrade overall, but still WOTR was the better game based on everything else.
>>541338356Make a mercenary instead. Or take her with the justification that you'll only keep her as long as necessary and then kick her out the moment she acts up.>>541339254This. I've been having more fun in my recent WotR playthrough just replacing companions I don't like with ones I make myself, with a backstory I've come up with. I do miss on some companion missions but I've also come to realize that when I really don't like a companion I view their quests as a chore 9 times out of 10 anyway, so I'm not missing out on anything.
>>541338979You have a soft spot for her
>>541339254>heh why do you even recruit prewritten characters when you can just imagine the banter and character of a mercenary
>>541339660It's especially pointless if you're doing a replay since you've already seen the prewritten NPCs content anyway, so there is absolutely zero reason to take them all over again.
>>541339761NTA but I just get varying degrees of put off or irritated with some companions. I don't like how quirky Woljif comes across for instance, so his banter just takes me out of the game instead of adding anything.Would I prefer banter? Yes, but not if its so discordant from my tastes.
>>541339761Correct. Imagining my fully custom built parties interactions is far more enjoyable and entertaining than seeing the badly written NPCs whose personality and character I don't even like interact with one another.
>>541339254I don't want hollow non-characters in my party. I literally never hired one in 500+ hours of playing KM and WOTR.
I played Pathfinder, WotR and Kingmaker and Baldurs gate 3I own Shadowrun, but for some reason I'm not 'vibing' with itmaybe it is just me, but it feels hard to get into
>>541339939WotR companions are the worst cast of characters Owlcat has made so far, the only two that actually feel like they belong in the setting and on the adventure path are Regill and Daeran. I suppose Seelah as well, but she's so dull and uninteresting the fact she fits doesn't matter much.
>>541340047Might as well go full retard and imagine you're playing a game in your head rather than playing one for real.
>>541340103They're only "non characters" if you somehow don't have enough creativity and imagination to create more than a singular protagonist.
You guys would either make a ton of bland goonable waifus or stereotypical old school rpg boring companions. PASS
>>541340268Isn't this what tabletop roleplaying games are?
I don't need to care about Ember or the spider or the succubusI can just imagine better versions in my head
>>541340268I have to say I think it's funny that the idea of playing a CRPG with a fully custom party breaks the mind of many current CRPG players since the full custom party, rather than the singular protagonist with pre written NPCs, used to be the standard, and not the exception.
>>541340207What about the DLC companion? Ul-something? I haven't tried any of the DLCs, but he looked kindof odd in the marketing, for a barbarian.
>>541340610These games used to emulate the tabletop experience, now they're just emulating each other instead.
How many anons here have the ability to fully imagine an apple in their mind's eye?
>>541340592Whats a better version of those 3.
>>541337001Owlcat knows waifus sell, so there will be at least one hot chick
>>541340610You sound like an old man crying that movies are now in color or that households used to have a landline phone
>>541340996None of them
>>541340793Do you create the characters that all the other players use when you play tabletop?
>>541340793The classic degradation, people copy the copy instead of the original and it just continues to snowball piece by piece and people forget the original altogether over time.
>>541340464tabletop is fun because you're interacting with the GM's vision, imaging half-baked stories in your head all by yourself is equivalent to playing with dolls. it's just a sad sight
>>541341207You sound like a guy whose mind is so crippled he can't imagine his own party of characters and needs pre written, canned banter to feel like he's engaging with something. Pathetic.
>>541341612Things evolveThings changeIf you don't evolve you stagnateRPGs didn't peak with Icewind Dale 2
>>541338356CHADzata "I can fix her" of course.
>>541341515I mean you're playing with dolls regardless, so I don't see your point, since the only difference would be playing with the dolls you made or the ones handed to you by someone else.
>>541341814>RPGs didn't peak with Icewind Dale 2Citation needed.
>>541341441The GM sets the tone and expectation for the game, so they're guided towards something that'll fit either the campaign or setting. Also, I only play tabletop with friends or people I know who tend to have similar tastes by virtue of being friends. We're not all alike, obviously, but no one is so out of step and if they were subtle social pressures tend to bring them in or it gets more easily ignored by virtue of being friends.
>>541342445Does each player create their own character or does one player create characters for the whole group?
I hope Owlcat do something about agility in Dark Heresy. Its too strong of a stat in its current form.
>>541341963no, as a player the only doll you play with is your character. other players have their own and most (if not all) of the fun comes from them interacting with each other.since these are singleplayer games, companions are supposed to fill that void
>>541342615Everyone creates their own character, obviously, the GM creates all the NPCs. You know, like a normal tabletop campaign.
>>541342924I just don't see the point, especially on replays, taking along prewritten, static NPCs that offer nothing, rather than creating my own band of adventurers with their own backstories. I cannot understand why you find it hard to see that doing so is a fun way to play a CRPG.
>>541342931So the most accurate to tabletop method would be to have the player only create one character rather than an entire party?
>>541343351In most cases, there are some game types where you might create minions but sure.I do see what you're saying but these games are still originally intended to emulate the tabletop experience. In the cases of old Bioware games you were encouraged to play multiplayer and in games before then they were single player due to limited technology (though there were a handful of off-brand ones where you did party recruitment but everyone was voiceless like a mercenary would be in most of those, to my memory).
>>541343597I mean Black Isle games. Forgot Bioware didn't do Icewind Dale, just same engine.
>toybox bugged and keeps giving me crits on every attackFucks sake. I just wanted to skip skill checks not make combat even easier.
>>541344917There's a crusade management mod that also does the skill check thing from an ingame menu instead of toybox, could try doing it through that instead.
>>541343597I do agree that having multiple custom characters works in multiplayer, but I prefer the DOS2/BG3 approach of having premade companions if you don't have enough players to make a full party rather than just having one character create an entire party if they're playing alone.
>>541308294>>541308294Okay, I haven't got any answers for this, so, alternatively..does anyone know how to add Echo of Deskari keys through toybox? I only have one because of fucking course it turned out i was supposed to wait aaall the way until you got Yaniel (which I had no way of knowing) so I can bring her to kill Minagho to get a key, and then there's something about a "secret stash" which i just straight up fucking cannot find anything about. The last one was with Berenguer and now I just can't even talk to him to tell him to go.
>>541345126I'm playing RT not WoTR.
