News when...
>>541798280Say it with me2 MORE WEEKS
>>541798280It's been like a month, I thought Todd was all about releasing things as soon as their announced now.
ENTER GODTRIOX...
>>541798891Some of my fondest memories in this general were right before release and we were getting flooded with /v/ermin but we were already getting DOMINATED by the Grizzled War Chief Escharum and were ground underfoot of a true /vg/ spammer.
>>541798550Apparently that got changed because people complained that they weren't releasing significant content patches, so now Bethesda is holding out to likely put anything outside of bug fixes into one big patch.
>>541799746He spammed /bfg/ when Battlefield 2042 was released and it killed the general....
TODD HOWAAAAAAAAAAAARD
TETSUOOOOOOOOO
>>541804364The Banished…..too strong…….*dies*
>>541800468The upcoming patch is supposed to update ship traveling/encounters. Tim Lamb, the guy whose the lead on the starfield team, said he thinks of Starfield as four games. Ship building, ship exploration, ground exploration, and outpost building. this patch is seemingly going to deal with space stuff, so maybe a 2nd patch later will deal with ground stuff.
>>541811975Fuck, I hope the game gets more than that one big update.
>>541798280No time soon. I don't expect to hear anything until March or April at the earliest. If it happens before then, I'll shit my pants with surprise/joy. The Game Awards copers are going to start crying themselves to sleep soon. The real ones knew that any chance of an announcement in 2025 died when the game no-showed the Xbox showcase in June. Slower people like myself weren't convinced of the truth until it also no-showed Gamescom. The poor Game Awards copers are still clinging to the disproven theory that a developer like BGS with hundreds of employees should be able to complete a DLC faster than once every 2 years.
>>541798550He says that, and people believe him. His idea of announcing and releasing shortly after was true for Skyrim and Fallout 4, then they decided to do that dumb teaser trailer for TES VI in 2018. They've talked about it being a mistake, and how they want to go back to what they were doing before. And yet they just keep doing the same 2018 bullshit all over again. A bunch of random teases for more Starfield DLC, and then silence. Silence which will, if leakers are correct, continue for several more months.Bethesda was never great at communication, but they did get better with each release... but now they're regressing, becoming worse than they ever have been before. Their plan for managing hype to avoid another Shattered Space disappointment is to tease a bunch of shit, promise big things, talk specifically about what they're going to add, and then dropping off the face of the Earth for another 6 months.Who wants to make a bet? I bet we'll get another tweet shortly after The Game Awards where they once again say they have "exciting things" coming to Starfield. And then they'll say nothing more until halfway through the year.
>>541822797Every dev will tell you that announcing things early is bad. The problem is Bethesda works in a snail's pace so you never hear from them for a whole year.
>>541828798You don't like it taking 16+ years between TES games?
>>541835054I'm way past that at this point. They could do a teaser that reveals the location though.
>>541836458they did that years ago.
The TES VI teaser will turn 10 years old before the game comes out. Also before Starfield gets its 3rd DLC. By the time Fallout 5 comes out, the 4th game will be 20 years old. Young people who played Skyrim when it first came out will be starting to have grandchildren by the time we get TES VII.

dead game, shutter the company
>>541836669It didn't reveal anything they are still discussing if it's Hammerfell or High Rock
>>541838317Todd will probably retire after FO5 in 2030~, by which point the staff and industry will be too different to really predict their future. The cycle might chug along, they might expand so they can work on two mainlines at the same time, or they might start using third parties again. Its also entirely possible ES6 shits the bed hard enough to oust him or even end Bethesda outright.

Bethesda doesn't get enough credit for Starfield visualsTES 6 would show these ungrateful bitches
The outpost system is very frustrating. There doesn't seem to be any point besides building more outposts, it's a closed loop. You can't build a functional bathroom. There's always 2-3 abandoned industrial sites within eye sight because the stars decided to abandon 95% of their industry because the war ended and they need to rebuild so fuck all those resources. The whole thing is just gay but could have been cool.
>>541856572I never enjoyed the settlements system in Fallout 4 so what's the solution?
Didn't notice that Varuun ships are are not pitch black but actually a very dark blue. I also bought one from the Dazra ship vendor just to check, then reloaded. Never captured one before.

Is Starfield the biggest disappointment in gaming history? 9/10 Anons say yes!
>>541878335Soon Todd will drop even more reason to be disappointed.
>>541878335Maybe for low IQ zoomers, but gaming has had far worse. Even in recent memory you have stuff like Shenmue 3 where people waited 20 years for a filler episode. Spore, Fable, Too Human, the entire Sega Saturn, you could go on and on. Starfied by comparison is just kind of unrealized, and it still has a hook for me. Honestly part of it is just a shift in gaming culture away from enjoying games and torwards meme faggotry as the center, so shitting on games just becomes a thing, especially for very online phone zoomers. Same thing happened to Cyberpunk and basically any big new release in the last few years, it's mostly independent of the game itself. Even something like elden ring gets a contingent of faggots saying "lol roll slop lol" to each other in gay discords and bringing it here.
steamdb shows they're messing around with trailers now. Could mean something, but probably not.
>>541880532What?
>>541869395The only time the rest of us will move on is when modding completely stops for Starfield.
>>541881053Exactly who I mean.
>>541880551False alarm. Other Bethesda games show the same activity. Yet another Starfield nothingburger.
I hate the legendary loot system. I don't want to savescum 10,000 times to get the version of the gun I actually wanted. The older games had a better system. Figure out which gear you want, check the Wiki to see where it's located or what quest rewards it, and go get it. Or craft it yourself. Also, shower thought: the New Game Plus reincarnation system in Starfield was the inevitible consequence of having Hindus develop your game.
>>541876487Very snug
>>541876487Looks like it could be an actual ship in-game, like a freighter-like version a ship producer has, similar to the Deimos Bireme
>>541891192The kalpas and Shezzarine are over there in Elder Scrolls
>>541891192Wait till you learn where the word "Kalpa" or where the name "Vivec" come from
>>541891632>>541891909Thanks for the engagement but I would have prefered you replied to the first thing I wrote, about Starfield's loot system. The bones of it were there in Fallout 4 but it was ignorable. In Starfield, watching out for muh legendaries is considered a core gameplay mechanic and I think it sucks
>>541891192Quest rewards are still fixed. Legendaries are more powerful than TES swords anyways leaving them for handcrafted quests is bound to create more repetition in a repetitive game
>>541892339The anon in your first reply here. I don't know if it's just because they got a new guy to work on the system or what, but they imported stupid things from Fallout 76 that only makes sense for multiplayer balancingCan't loot NPCs fully, can't improve/upgrade gear class. Now it's even more stupid: mods gets destroyed when you remove themYet years after its release, 76 now has a way to mod in legendaries
>>541893318Or maybe they thought Bethesda games were too exploitable so they took notes and balanced around that.
>>541893318>mods gets destroyed when you remove themYes, I forgot to add that to my list of things I hate about Starfield. Basically the theme of the game is you need to collect 40 different versions of the Beowulf if you want to swap between scope, iron sights, automatic, semi-auto, different legendary perks, etc. I just want one gun that I can swap mods onto as needed. Other games figured out how to do this. Even older Bethesda games had it figured out.
>>541893646I'd agree with you but ships have the same sense and feel of build freedom that is present in Fallout 4's item modding. Given enough skills and levels you can take a basic ship all the way through your journey
>>541893318>they imported stupid things from Fallout 76 that only makes sense for multiplayer balancingI think the loot system was designed for flexing, or "e-peen" as they used to call it. No Man's Sky does the same thing. You have a 0.0001% change of dice-rolling the perfect set of perks or starship upgrades or colorway or whatever, so you feel all proud when you finally get it, and you upload your screenshot to reddit for updoots.
>>541894624You msy not like it, but this what made Borderlands a billion dollar franchise
>>541896091:(
I'm just glad BGS is managing our expectations by promising big things coming to the game, dropping a Tim Lamb video with exciting implications followed immediately by what is essentially a title reveal for the next DLC, and then going silent for what will probably be several more months. They're doing an excellent job of preventing overhype by teasing us for a year straight and providing zero real information.
>>541899657Huh, I didn't think of that. Tempering expectation is definitely the way to go, though I can't guarantee that some people won't still be disappointed, especially if people put too much speculation into what this DLC is actually going to be about.
Farseer seems like a interesting paid mod, but the description makes it seem like it features fleet command gameplay which makes me a bit concerned about how it will react with Watchtower
>>541856572>There doesn't seem to be any point besides building more outposts, it's a closed loopThe point is to give players the ability toA. Mass harvest resources automatically, which feeds into research, and crafting.B. Build homes in cool looking environments where they want.
>no space whales in Starfield
Okay, Richard. You convinced me to try out Tiny Reasons to Explore Space>>541905826We got flying whales in Skyrimhttps://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/43598
>>541906459Can you get eaten by them, and harvest resources from them?
>>541906596Nope, they're purely for ambience
>>541906785shame, still cool thoughone of these days I'll get around to playing Skyrim in VR
Weird, but neat
>>541903328The issue with resources is that buying them when you're in town gives you everything you need, and sleeping to reset the vendors is still more time efficient than setting up outposts for so many different resources. Outposts are better for racking up hundreds/thousands of resources, but that's far more than you ever need for research/crafting and less efficient to sell than guns. The home aspect is also underbaked, the available habs are meant for industry, not comfy space cabins. The only unique thing outposts bring to the table is the ship builder. They could've leaned into that more, with a progression of fancier pads offering more and better parts.

2025 has been a depressing year to be a Starfield enjoyer. Can't wait for it to be over. I wish I didn't like this game. I bet The Outer Worlds 2, a game that isn't even out yet, will get DLC before anything else comes out for Starfield.
>>541941335At least Starfield will get DLC before GTA6
>>541942590I wouldn't count on that. I think the chances are about 50-50.
>>541942937More like 100% since Shattered Space is already out.
>>541925061The story/characters are fucking shit, but it could have been a lot worse. It could have been more george floyd, or trantifa like some of the other games that flopped hard recently. They could theoretically do some relatively minor adjustments to the story and salvage it, but they won't because they don't care. Bethesda are completely delusional about this game when it comes to their perceived quality vs what everyone else actually thinks about it.

>>541982753Third person doesn't even work in starfield. You try aiming the mag weapons, you can't. Also the movement feels like shit because there's some weird acceleration that's not present in first person. It's like they were made by two diffrrent people.

>>541999419Those mods still haven't fixed how retarded V moves in third person. Even John Tanner didn't look this bad
>>541998202I think it's better that way. Notice how melee attacks propels the character forward in third-person, which is typically a good thing? In first-person that can be jarring, but it's much easier to jiggle WASD to achieve the same thing in first-person anywayBasically different animation sets. Probably why you mostly can't switch perspective mid-action
These seem to be the most must have mods (at least in my opinion) for improving your space experience right now:Paid1. WatchtowerTons of different things going on in this mod, but as for space, you get a new faction encounter (with high difficult because of their sheer numbers), the ability to build a fleet of ships, and some new ship parts2. Tiny Reasons to Explore SpaceAdds a bunch of ruined spacestations and asteroid settlements for you to explore a bit in Zero G. They usually have a bunch of supplies to find, so it's ideal for a scavenger playthroughFree1. Dark Universe seriesSome of these mods adds more npc warfare activity as well as mission board opportunities that includes destroying hostile objects, and exploring abandoned starstations and alien infested ships2. HorizonWork in progress spacestation player home, probably the best one made so far as you can even transport it around the settled systems3. AstrogateAllows for real time interplanetary travel, either manually or through an autopilot feature. Pretty good if you want to just do just hang around your ship and watch the galaxy go by4. Better Boarding Encounters and Enemies Boarding My ShipThe former mod adds a chance for you to encounter traps when boarding enemy ships, and a chance for enemies to board your ship after docking with theirs. The latter mod makes it so that enemies attempt to dock with your ship and board it mid combat
The way this mod tries to implement the ability to explore the vacuum of space is pretty jank, but it gets the job done.
There's a few altars that show up in these places associated with Sanctum Universum and Va'ruun that I'd assume would give you a buff or something. Looks like you can't get those buffs if you don't have the traits associated with them
These Starborn Crystals will also supply you with random stuff like credits or equipment in exchange for 2 quantum essences

December will be all about Fallout 76 since it has a new update coming to coincide with season 2 of the show. There's a nice slot for Starfield to fit into. But I won't be surprised when nothing happens.
>>542158954Game Awards is in December and fuck Fallout 76 they are getting too many announcements
>>542162850I agree, fuck Fallout 76. Unfortunately, it's the game Bethesda is focusing on right now. The Fallout 3 remaster isn't ready, and Fallout 5 is obviously many years away. Fallout 76 is how they capitalize on the success of the TV show. They have no room or fucks to give for Starfield at the moment. Their presence at The Game Awards will be spent on Fallout 76. Starfield fans will be waiting until next year for any more news, most likely.
>>542162850It makes sense for 76 to get the most amount of support because MMOs are a bigger passive money maker than single player games are.
>>542164057TES VI will probably just be an expansion pack for The Elder Scrolls Online
>>542164019Not him, but with Starfield I was hoping Bethesda (the Game Studios) would finally be free of the Fallout burden since now they have their own scifi game series, and fallout could finally be left to rot or go to back to Obsidian again for all I care..
>>542167885Starfield had an iffy launch and Fallout is more popular than ever before. Best case scenario now is that Starfield is added to the franchise rotation and we get a sequel 25 years from now.
>>542167885I don't know why you would even think that, Fallout is still a major cashcow for Bethesda, Starfield mostly served as a testing ground to expand their franchises outside of TES and Fallout.
Some information came out on the revenue modders receive through Creations if anyone cares about that, some other stuff is in this video as well.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2YGG_3n8OE
>>542173907I know people are dumb but how did they believe that Bethesda takes the most amount of money from them? Why would anyone make paid mods at that point.
>>542175216>but how did they believe that Bethesda takes the most amount of money from them? Luke Stephens said it, and people gobble his nuts.
>>542175903I should've started a youtube channel already. All it takes is a pretentious thumbnail and a safe-nerdy looking guy for it to take off.
>>541958349Maybe Bethesda Should stop making games if they cant move forward.
>>542185250They can't just give Houdini away. It's not theirs to give.
>>542186885>cant use it>cant get rid of it>cant replace itWhat can Bethesda do then? They should just give up and hand their IPs to a studio that can do something.
>>542188592They likely won't, you're better off playing something else if you can't stand Bethesda anymore. Go boot up Dark Souls or something
>>542188592Name one AAA studio that allows modding as much as they do.. can't answer? shut the fuck up then
>>542190552Why not
>>542189017He has a point though. Using Houdini instead of developing their own solution (not like heightmaps are arcane supertech) was a terrible decision. You're using "but they allow mods" to defend something that has crippled a whole category of modding.
>>542193428Houdini is why the environment has procedural generation that doesn't look completely incohesive. Bethesda would spend a whole decade developing for one game if every tech was made in-house
>>542197950Again, Houdini isn't the only company to have figured out procgen. Bethesda is not a struggling indie company, if they didn't already have programmers who could make something good enough in a timely manner they could just hire/contract them and have a solution that modders can access. Even if its not quite as good as what they got with Houdini, that tradeoff would've been worth it.I'm not saying they should go through the trouble for every little thing, but this wasn't a little thing. Its a game about exploring planets and they locked planets behind proprietary software. Imagine if they pulled that for TES6's interiors and no one can make house or dungeon mods. Would you be saying "but who else allows you to make swords"?
>>542201753retard.
>>542193428NO HE DOES NOT!
>>542201753There's several hundred planets and you can tweak the proc gen of the planets that are already in the game.
>>542203201That's not okay, that kind of language doesn't represent us starchads. Do better, Sarah says.
>>542209105okay nigger
Luke Stephens said his favourite video games areBG3NMSCyberpunkStar CitizenQuake 3 Arena
just to remind you ingrates.
>>542213448definitely an NPC on top of being a liar.
MrMatty said The Outer Worlds is better than Starfield
>>542213480Gameplay options are the coolest feature from this list. Bethesda games are all about customizability and to translate that into the difficulty is genius. I love having each character with its set of gameplay rules.
>>542213448Very basic bitch tastes. lol>>542213874Is MatPat even relevant anymore?
>>542214269MatPat left his channel last yearMatty was never relevant outside of niche Bethesda spheres
Luke Stephens aka the only guy who still remembers that Saarfield exists. I'm surprised he even bothers to talk about this absolute failure with 1000 players on Steam inbetween his NMS sessions.
>>542214946Luke Stephens is the type of guy who'll try to persuade Barrett into fucking his wife but Barrett refuses because he's gay
Who is Cora's real dad? Barrett or Vlad?
>>542213448>Star CitizenMay he end up destitute
>>542215984Barrett is gay. Also you already know the answer, Jacob Coe
>>542221070So he is hiding more than maps in there...
>>541891192Would the bottom variant be really bad if it also came with a visible change? Like adding a serrated edge, making the sword longer... Weapons in Starfield actually do that, swords too like the Varuun ones.
>>542225153Ooooh yeah that Va'ruun sword, I hope it was a test for TES 6 weapons. I can already imagine how cool the variants would be considering Bethesda has tripled their art budget since Skyrim.
>>542225153Yes. The tier system's main function is to frustrate players and waste their time by arbitrarily making their loot obsolete. It doesn't belong in a single player game, and any tricks to fix it up like visual changes would be better off as part of a mod/enchantment system instead.
>>542228286They should copy Diablo or POE and make the add-ons the things you grind for
>>542215984Cora is adopted. Fact of the matter is Sam is actually an FtM whose original name was Samantha Coe.
>want to play Starfield again>look at mods>become overwhelmedI felt that when modding Mass Effect for example, there were very clear and unanimously decided upon "essential" mods. And then I'd add some stuff I liked on top. Here I feel lost, especially so given Creations exist. Maybe I just play vanilla again. Maybe I'm just retarded. Maybe both.
>>542229104both. Starfield, like Fallout 4 without mods ia horrible experience. Console kiddies have it roughJust do a collection you spaz
>>542228469They shouldn't be copying any lootgrinders. Gear progression should be about exploring the world, engaging with it through quests, or building up crafting skills so you can cobble something together yourself, not grinding 1000 identical lairs and praying one of them spits out something usable.>>542229104Just think back to something that annoyed you, then see if there's any mods addressing it.
>>542229320>Starfield, like Fallout 4 without mods ia horrible experienceI have used hundreds of mods for Skyrim but only like 5 for Starfield now and it's just aesthetic one. Also for Fallout, tested dozens but only had like 15 at most running for normal gameplay.
In fact I can boot up MO2 right nowSkyrim active 138, total 282, some of these are patches or variants for the same mod, but tested hundreds over the years Starfield active 9, total 32 Fallout 4 is empty because I uninstalled long ago and never played it again

Good morning, I hate Fallout 76 for constantly stealing the spotlight from Starfield and being Bethesda's favorite child
>>542242114>Bethesda's favorite childIt's a pimp and whore relationship really.
>>542244790In that case, I wouldn't mind if they starting whoring out Starfield a bit more. I'd pay another 30 bucks to stick my dick in that.
>>542245310>I'd pay another 30 bucks to stick my dick in that.Based, so based

>>542249371Looter shooter go brrrrrrBut I got bored from it and switched to different games, used to play a LOT of Starfield but I'm playing Borderlands 4 now from time to time.

Time to play through Farseer
Oh look it's Matthew Santoro!
Glad to be coming across mods like these. Bethesda really did screw up some of these perks up with adding some unwanted affectshttps://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/10297https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/5780

This mod seems to have some nice interior designs so far
Vault-Tec populations tend to have a big enough population to avoid inbreeding issues for those living in them for over a century, but how did the ECS Constant manage to avoid that with so few people living within it for over 200 years?
>>542286339How many years is starfield set in the future? 200? Assuming a breeding generation is ~25 years you can manage it with arranged marriages with a population of around 100 or so.
>>542286339Don't think about it, Bethesda didn't think about it so neither should you
Yep, this is definitely an annoying puzzle alright
>>542286339you guys are so fucking dumb lol.
Well, Farseer was a pretty short mod. Upon finishing the story, you'll get a spacestation player home and two drone ships that you can choose to have follow you around and provide attack and stun support in combat. it's looks like there is also some post content for the mod that you'll get access to over time, like for example I just unlocked an option to increase the reactor output of my ship after waiting a few days.
Realistically what would the next update bring exactly
>>542302754Bug fixes primarily
>>542302889Now this is what I call realistic expectations.
>>541794739>46th presidentHe will be our 50th President after Vance's two terms are up.>>541856572I want to build my own Akira City or my own Neon. I know that'd be like asking Starfield to also be a city builder or a game like the Sims or something, but if they ever got to that point in Starfield, it would literally be one of the only games I'd ever need. It's already one of the only games I play much anymore and is literally the only game that came out this generation that I do still go back to and invest a good amount of time into.
>>542306267>He will be our 50th President after Vance's two terms are up.Finally, a president that everyone and their grandma will actually know for sure is full of shit
>>542306778Funny how that applies to both
>>542302754Cruise mode
I know Tim Lamb is cooking a fine ass cuisine. It's in his name, Lamb.
>>542302754They're working on something called cruise mode (presumably seamless ship travel, or at least better obfuscated seams) and something called Terran Armada, so its safe to say some kind of space update is coming, but all we have is names right now, no idea about the exact content. TA might be DLC2 coming way after the next update, or a small Vulture-tier creation meant to showcase cruising, or another Kinggath mod.
>>542312116I doubt Terran Armada is DLC 2. If ti was they would've trademarked it.
>>542313307It's part of the free content drop for the ps5 announcement. Starborn will drop with the PS5 release in April. The content drop will drum up some good will
>>542313307A smaller mission is most likely. Still, they didn't explicitly say "this is the title of the next update" so its not impossible the TA thing was a lore tease for something within DLC2 and not the actual title. If its called Starborn, maybe the plot is about a group of them taking over and enhancing a fleet of generation ships to steamroll their way through the artifact hunts.
>>542315075I hope this theory is correct. A big base game update shadow dropped at the Game Awards alongside a trailer for the next big DLC and PS5 port announcement. It makes sense, it sounds awesome, and would be a very smart business move.
>>542313307Is a trade mark necessary for a DLC?
>>542324494Is anything necessary when the game is shit?
>>542326586Yes. Now stop being dumb and answer my question
>>542324494No, but it's a good idea to do so if you don't want to deal with other people trying to claim ownership over it and try to claim you're infringing on the trademark, or use it to trick people into buying the wrong thing. Bethesda might also want to build merchandise around it too.

when does the ps5 version of this game come out so we can finally get a good update?
>>542330506I'm going to laugh when they do drop a PS5 version and the update that comes with it breaks all the existing mods as bad a the Fallout 4 next gen update did.
>>542331046Fo4 update broke everything that touched facegen because its facegen was already broken and the update broke even more. Modders have already fixed it but it's baffling Bethesda hasn't done anything about it. I don't know if Starfield has an equivalent
Backstreet's back, ALRIGHT!
>>542331695>Ah shit, Bob broke Fallout 4. Should we send a couple of devs to fix it? >Nah it's printing money regardless, focus on TES 6 right now
I've spent days trying to build a ship and when I finally finish I find out that the doors on the ship are incompatible with the modded parts I have. I hate ship building.

Dead game.
Why do I have three variations of the StarfieldCustom file? Which is the real one to edit? The config file has text in it, while the actual ini is blank. This doesn't at all line up with what I'm reading on mods and their comments.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, dead thread.
I think I might kill myself. I am genuinely unable to enjoy video games anymore. Nothing else is like seems to be working out and I have no distractions from life.

Looks like Starfield passed the 110 million mod download mark. Just needs 5.5 million more to surpass Mountain Blade, and 69.5 to surpass Witcher 3 so it can finally catch up to it's other Bethesda brothers.
>>542371484Not bad for a new IP they had to make from scratch, instead of adapting existing non-game works>Mountain BladeYou mean "Mount & Blade"?
>>542368664>people can barely afford to even be whimsy anymoreNTA but none of my problems stem from not being able to afford things (seems to be a meme from people too stuck on politics refuse to work around). Currently the things lacking from life are good people, entertainment, and the idea that the future is bright.
The invisible walls between Virgin and Ohio need to go.
>>542383038Virgin?
>>542378859mountain blade butterlord
>>542378859What makes it even more surprising is that Starfield is more of a hand scifi setting, which have traditionally done poorly.
>>542393332It's not that surprising at all when you consider the fact that it's a Bethesda game. It might not have been well received, but the fact of the matter is that Starfield still has a high potential to be a modding playground like it's predecessors. People will try to shape it into the ambitious space game that they dream about playing.
