Strider removes ton of situationality that charge-reliant Large units have: no more charge penalty when charging uphill (which is more than 50% of the fights because AI loves to camp on hills), no more -20% melee penalty from fighting uphill, no more -20% MA and Speed penalty when fighting in woods and most importantly extra acceleration so its a lot easier to push through enemies if you get swamped.

I don't know anything about programming or vidya development but wouldn't it be easy to make "ai" that just has a list of everything it can possibly do with a ranking of how important it is based on conditionals and it does the top 3 or 5 or 10 things on the list? like for "recruit spearmanii" it would be +5 for having less than 8 spearmanii already and +2 for being at war with bretonnia and -8 if elite spearmanii are also available. then even if you add new mechanics all you have to do is add them to the list.
