Items increase stats3. soul efficiency bloats stats furtherPlayers in the lead can go glass cannon since they are ahead, but if a player is behind, they die even easier. If they build a tanky item, then they can't deal enough damage, and since they are behind, they do less damage anyway.

It turns out I was using a very, very old build, one that came out right when the shop update happened, and never bothered to update. I changed to a more modern build, and so far I'm 3/4 games. I love Drifter but i really feel like he needs some love. His early game is so bad and you basically need to become fed to have any chance to carry, and even if you do get fed he's just not as good as other gun carries in the late game.
